Ty shakes his head as he steps from his car and walks up Jayden's driveway. There were multiple vehicles parked in the driveway. Multiple vehicles meant multiple visitors.
He enters the house and smiles, he was right, six of his cousin were seated in various parts of Jayden's living room. "Hey, Ty." One said. "Doctor is in the house, y'all." Another one said. "Two doctors in one day, damn our family is so cool." Another said.
"Two doctors?" Ty asks confused. "Yeah, your dad was here earlier, took Jayden's vitals, drew some blood to run some tests, and all that." Another one said. "Really? Great, then I don't have to." Ty said setting his medical bag on a table and walking over to Jayden.
"So, how are you feeling?" Ty asks sitting next to him. "Like I was shot in the chest." Jayden laughs in a teasing tone. "I'm so sorry cuz….." "Hey, hey, stop I was just teasing, I'm doing a lot better than a few days ago, and as I've said a thousand times before, I don't regret any of it. I was only doing my job; a job I'm damn good at and want back by the way." Jayden said.
"Oh yeah…" Ty said with a nervous laugh. "About that….my wife has flat out refused to have another bodyguard…." "Wait, what? She can't do that, Kayla is still out there, she isn't safe." Jayden said in alarm.
"Oh trust me, she knows but she still insists." "But why?" Peter asks. "Why? She believes Jayden was shot because of her and she will be damned if anyone else gets hurt because of her." "What about her? There's no way she will be able to defend herself against someone like Kayla, not while she's pregnant." Kevin said in concern.
"Come on Ty, we know you love your wife and you respect her wishes but we can't just leave her to fend for herself," Jayden said. "I know." "So what do you suggest we do?" Jayden asks.
"I don know yet; she has two weeks at home before she goes back to classes so I've two weeks to figure it out." Ty sighs heavily. "Or we can just save you the trouble and decide right here, right now," Michael said. "Exactly, we'll all pitch in and guard her, every last one of us, she'll never know we're there but we'll be until that bitch is caught," Jay adds.
"Guys… I…." "Save it cuz, Janice is family and we look out for our own, end of story, now we know you don't like keeping secrets but for her safety please, don't inform her of what we're doing." Peter pleads.
"I don't keep secrets from my wife guys…I…" "Let me ask you something cuz? Sudane said cutting Ty's sentence short. "Do you agree that your wife is in danger?" "Yes…but." "That if given the chance that bitch Kayla will no doubt cause serious harm to your wife and unborn child?"
"Yes," "Then for their sakes, we're asking you to keep this between us, that's an order," Sudane said in a stern tone. "Okay," Ty said in a defeated tone.
Half an hour later Jayden had said goodbye to four of his cousins including Ty. He and the ones that remain were in his kitchen making snacks when Christian and Jared enter carrying multiple bags which they dumped on his kitchen counter before greeting everyone. "Guys, what the hell is all this?" Jayden asks in disbelief. "About a month's worth of food," Jared said walking from the kitchen.
"I already told you guys, you don't have to keep doing this, I'm okay, Ty's family is already providing everything my wife and kids and I need. I appreciate this guys but come on…." "Oh shut up already, you took a bullet protecting one of us, nothing we do could ever be enough," Christian said putting a big envelope on the counter.
"What's that?" Jayden asks eyeing the envelope suspiciously. "Three hundred grand," Jared said coming back into the kitchen with more bags which he put beside the others. "No, hell no, I cannot accept that; Ty already left a cheque for a substantial amount earlier, I've more than I need, please take that back." Jayden pleads.
"No offense cuz, but I wasn't asking you to take this money from me, I'm leaving this envelope right here beside these bags, accept it, don't accept it, that's up to you; but right now we have places to go and things to do, so catch you later, yeah, love you, man," Christian said patting Jayden's shoulders before leaving the kitchen.
Christian and Jared were almost in their car when Jayden's voice stops them. "Um….guys, thank you." He said looking embarrassed. "You're welcome and next time; lead with that, yeah," Chris said with a mischievous wink. "Okay." "We'll see you later cuz."
