Chapter 25

I had unwrapped part of the throw blanket off myself and moved close to where Yan was seated that the sides of our bodies were touching then proceeded to drape the throw blanket over his shoulders and once it was over him I placed my hand behind his back pulling him even closer to me. The blanket would have warmed him up eventually but it would have taken some time so why not speed it up with somebody heat.

Thanos" Alex! Dude have you lost it"

What do you mean by have I lost it, Thanos? you really didn't expect me to just sit here and do nothing, did you? He helped us when we were freezing earlier so am just returning the favor.

Dragoshi" We get it Alex you wanted to help him but wasn't there another way than this. I know I said he's cute and all but this is a bit too sudden and a bit too close for comfort.

Fine Dragoshi tells me of you other ingenious ways I would have helped him I will wait.

Dragoshi"..."

Nothing? Oh, I see or maybe you would have preferred me to give him the entire throw blanket and leave ourselves to freeze? I get why you guys are being all fussy if there was another way out I would have taken it but there ain't one so just bear with it until the storm is over and we can go our separate ways.

Thanos "he is starting to move that's a good sign that he is getting better so we can unwrap our hands from his body right? but he can keep the other half of the throw blanket.

Very funny Thanos his body is still freezing so suck it up and deal with it.

Yan was starting to be responsive which was a good thing since it mean his condition had not become too serious and he will be better in no time and hopefully it is in time to refuel the fire in the basement before it dies down and we have to start it again.

It started to get warmer all of a sudden, unlike the cold frozen island my body and mind were trapped in. It felt as if I was so frozen that I couldn't move any part of my body at all, everything in my surroundings seized to exist, Alex, the fire whose warmth wasn't doing anything for me and even the loud noisy storm couldn't stop me from fading into the quiet frozen island and like everything else my thoughts stopped too and I couldn't tell how long I had been like that before the sudden feeling of warmth started slipping its way through my cold body.

The feeling was so delightful, I could feel my system working again I could move my some parts of my body and through the excitement, I moved my body even closer to the newfound source of warmth and it willing engulfed me in its warmth. My body now felt as if it was fully out of the frozen island and more on a tropical island enjoying the sun's warmth on my skin as I lay down by the beach with a big smile on my face.

I was jerked from my fantasy by something shaking my body and as much as I tried to shake it off and go back to my tropical island the shaking became even more vigorous. Opening my eyes to give whoever or whatever was ruining my fantasy I met Alex's face which was only inches from mine. Not knowing how we got to this point, I jerked back trying to create needed distance between us but a pair of arms around my waist stopped me In my tracks.

Wow has this boy been this strong all along or am I the one getting weaker?" Hey, get your hands off me!" I was in a panic state which was causing me to become defensive.

" I could let you go but I can bet on my life that the moment my hands are of you would go running off to the furthest corner of this room away from me and we can't have that so instead of giving me death glares you should be thanking me for saving you from freedom to death which makes us even for helping me when I wasn't feeling well." I get that but he still owes me one for helping him with the body.

" Even though, did you have to be that close with your hands on me? I can feel the heat radiating from your body." Every time he spoke his warm breathe kept hitting my neck which had the hairs behind it stand from chills that had me swallowing hard from time to time. unlike I who seemed to try and not panic from the close proximity he kept his cool the entire time and even tightened his interlocked hands that were around my waist.

" huh! Says the one who cuddled me and only came closer when I tried to wake him up. Am not the biggest fun of skinship, and I would either not cuddle with a total stranger but living you to freeze would be adding more work of getting rid of a dead body that I had not packed extra supplies for. So for the meantime, you too suck it up for a couple of more minutes to allow your body to absorb more heat and retain it."

It seems it's for my best interest so I did resist but that doesn't mean that I will melt into his hands like the time I wasn't fully conscious. After several minutes he took his hands off of me and went on to add more pieces of words to the fire before informing me he was heading down to the basement to add on to the fire to make sure nothing would be left of the girl. I offered to go with him but with his flashlight in hand, he dismissed me with a mumble that sounded something like ' you better stay still and fully gain back your strength I would rather not drag you up the stairs in case your legs give out

Once he was out of the room and a few doors down the hallway I was left in darkness with only the light and sounds of burning woods from the fire keeping the room a bit alive. The rain was still falling but not with the intensity it had, in the beginning, indicating that there were signs that the storm will be over if we are lucky by the crack of dawn the next day. I sat quietly gazing at the fire waiting for Alex to get back.
