Chapter 3

(Flashback)

That night was just one of normal nights, but something was different. Sara couldn't handle the situation anymore. She couldn't keep pretending everything was alright as she gently rubbed her seven months belly. She hated lies that being told to her face every day.

After they finalized their divorced proceedings, Stefan initially allowing Sara to stayed back in their apartment. However, Sara felt empty and cold, no longer a safe place, no more witness of their love. She stared at the white walls while every memory replayed in her head.

Like the time they were planting their favorites plants during summer and smacked the soils to each other and got into the steamy jacuzzi together afterwards, or when they were finally setting their first Christmas lights but due to weather changes, every setup went totally haywire and it short-circuit thus having to spend their first Christmas as a married couple with a candle lit dinner and a dark tree.

"Where have you been?" Sara asked clearing her throat.

"With my best friends. I told you, right?" Stefan said not looking at her, eyes still scrolling on his phone.

"Can you look at me when I'm talking to you? I just want you to tell me the truth." Sara almost burst her anger.

Stefan sighed. "The truth? What are you talking about? Do you want me to call them so they can confirmed that I've been with them all day?"

"Since when does your best friends used female perfume? It smells like expired milk; I hate it and I know you must be with Tiffany all day!" Sara yelled as she covered her nose with her palms because the smell made her extremely nauseous.

"Sara, stop this nonsense please. We are separated and be grateful enough that I let you stay here for a few months since you're nowhere to go. And yes, I'm out with Tiffany but why does that matter to you anyway?"

"Now I don't care about where you're going to sleep tonight, you can go back to your ex-boyfriend, Minho, right? Go, just go!" With that Stefan stomped his way to the bedroom and slammed closed the door ignoring Sara's voice calling out his name as she keep banging on their bedroom door.

Time seems fly by like summer, spring, winter. Seasons change and a year later, Stefan officially gets engaged with Tiffany. After much pleading from Dylan, Sara finally let Stefan communicate with their child through zoom online because Sara had migrated to Seoul City with her bestfriend, Hailey.

Dylan had a hard time searching for Sara. Through Hailey, they both finally met online. Since then, Stefan has been communicating with his child. Sara of course she still doesn't understand why her former husband keeps bothering her with calls and text messages which she ignored it.

Two years pass, when Stefan started introducing all the nursery songs to Hanie.

Three years pass, Hanie would show all her favorite plushies yet small to her daddy.

Four years pass, father and daughter bond can never be separated, they're chatting almost every night and Stefan would sing a lullaby or read storybooks to put Hanie to sleep.

Into the fifth years, finally Sara meets face to face with Stefan to request for help. During those five years, Hanie and her daddy has been communicating with each other except for Sara. Never once she appeared during their zoom meeting.

It's difficult for Sara to pretend. She would every time fake her smile and acted to be bit nicer because Hanie needs her daddy too. Her child missed her daddy, so for the sake of her daughter, Sara has to accept the path that she's on now.
