Each step in the crafter's notebook was mostly logical. Steven really had a thing for details, opening the spellbook and placing it on the floor in front of him were two separate steps while choosing the magic was one simple and vague instruction. Uri prepared a bag with all the necessary materials and with the notebook so that he could head to the magic spike and perform his creation magic, "I wonder if my magic will be enough," He thought out loud as he began to think about the wand maker's comment about having to alter magic in a small space to enhance the spellbook, "Well, nothing left to do but do it."
The moon was high in the sky as Uri arrived at the magic spike. It had remained untouched since the headmaster and the young mage had come to inspect it, "Maybe this can work," He reached into his bag and pulled out the blank spellbook. The wand maker had told him that it would require a huge amount of magic to alter its attribute, the glow of the magic spike made Uri believe that this would be his best shot at getting a large amount of magic in one area. He placed it on the ground and began flipping through the crafter's noted, "A powerful spell directed at a book that is guarded by magical runes can form a spell book, spell used: Storm's Rage," Uri put the notes away and closed his eyes as he tried to remember the way the teachers in training of the storm school had cast their spells.
His hands began to move, beginning to write out the purple spell and dragging black storm clouds above him. He could feel magic coursing through his body towards his hands before he finished the spell and with one last movement, a bright, powerful bolt of lightning struck the ground, singeing the ground around the book and making Uri look away from its brightness. The bolt had been so bright that the night had turned into day for a short time, any normal book would've been destroyed by such a spell but not this one. The book was intact but nothing had changed, it still had the same amount of magic, if not a slightly more, compared to when he bought it, "Storm's Rage, failed," He mumbled to himself before thinking of what magic he could possibly use to overload the book's magical properties. He leaned on his brace as he thought and then it hit him, the Dominator's magic. If the life mage could only use a small portion of the magic, he could probably get the desired effects on the book. The clouds quickly cleared and allowed the clearing to be filled by the light of the moon and the stars of the sky. He put his hand out and began thinking of the spells that he had used back in first year.
Suddenly, a gauntlet formed around his arm. Uri reached down and picked up the book, holding it tightly in his gauntlet covered hand before his second arm was covered by the same armor. If he struck it with one of the dominator's magical weapons, maybe he could shatter the limitations of the book, or simply shatter his arms. A burst of light made Uri turn away before he felt a weapon in his left hand, not a heavy one but the magic was nearly overpowering. With a gulp and an exhale, Uri lifted the magical mace and then brought it crashing down onto the spellbook. A second, more powerful burst of light and an explosion sent Uri flying back as the night had once again turned to day, but the light persisted for a few seconds before fading. Uri was on his back as he breathed heavily and felt his body to see if he was alright. The Dominator's magic had faded and he was back to being himself once more. The young man sat up and saw the book was still intact but the strike had altered something, it was glowing like the magic spike. Uri could feel the difference in magic the book had and the strike had successfully shattered the limitations of the spellbook. A grin crept onto his face as he quickly retrieved the bag that had been thrown off of his shoulder when he had broken the spellbook's seal. His fingers flicked through the pages as he quickly looked for the second part of the process, "Choose your magic," The step had stumped him from the beginning. He stopped then began thinking of what he wanted from his magic and then continued to look at the steps. It was all very basic for Uri to do, he took the pen he had brought and began drawing the runes that corresponded to the creation of the new spellbook as outlined by the crafter's notebook. The book fell from his hands as a pulse of magic forced his hands away before, as Steven had explained, Uri's body flared up as magical energy pulsed visibly in the air.
The spectacle that was pure magic made the young man's eyes go big as he looked around. It danced, jumped and flickered around him as his body acted as a pillar of magical light. The leaves on the branches of the trees of the clearing rustled and the blades of grass lay down. Runes began forming themselves on his body as he felt the magic contained within him manifest and gave the world a show of its immensity. He laughed with glee as reality around him seemed to shimmer as the book's pages began turning back and forth before lifting up from the ground and writing began appearing on the pages as they flipped back and forth.
"Benjamin," Damia woke her husband as she stood by the window, "What is that in the forest?" The light was so bright that it made the night sky nearly resemble that of the day's sky. He stood and walked to the window before squinting.
"I believe that might be one of our students," She looked at him with a concerned look, "I was never going to be stop him from his ambitions."
"Yes, but this?"
"Steven gave him the tools, he is using them," Benjamin smiled as he looked at the beacon of magical light, "I will head out there."
"That is a good idea," She remained by the window as the headmaster headed to grab clothes to head out to the forest, "Answer me this."
"Go ahead."
"Was he the one who made you consider researching those old books?" He stopped and looked up at her, "I don't know why but, ever since he started dating Kelly, I have been looking into prophecy magic."
"What for?" The headmaster looked at his wife, confused by her question and statement.
Uri felt the light fade, the branches returned to their calm and the blades of grass stood up once more, "Is it over?" He spoke to himself as he noticed the book had gained a title and was now closed. With caution, Uri moved towards it and picked it up, it felt powerful. The book's title caused Uri's expression to go from excited to disappointed, "The tome of Oik magic," He was tempted to hurl the spellbook but he was curious how Oik magic could actually fill a spellbook. To his knowledge, there were only two spells that the Oik could use and had ever used. He kept the book closed and tucked it into his bag, he would have something to study his magical creation.
"Uri," He turned and saw the headmaster standing at the entrance of the clearing, "What happened?"
"I made a spellbook," Uri paused, "Of Oik magic?" The headmaster looked at him confused, "My spellbook," He pulled it out and held it near the headmaster, "Is Oik magic."
"How is that possible?" Uri shrugged, "Are you alright? I saw the light from my tower, it was very powerful," The younger man nodded, "Let's head back, no need to stay out here for longer," The two of them began to leave before the headmaster looked back at the magic spike.
"What is it?"
"Is it me or is the magic spike smaller?" The two men looked back at the spike as it began to shrink rapidly and then, before they could do anything, it disappeared into the ground, "What is going on?"
"Could be my magic," The headmaster shrugged and turned back, "Were you worried?"
"Not at all, it was Damia, she was worried."
"Why is Mrs. Solven worried about me?" The headmaster shrugged once more as the pair headed back to the campus of the school. Uri tucked the book away in his bag, there was studying to do for him.
