Farewell

The last thing he did before everything left was to talk to his parents, who already looked at him with a face of marble and emotionless eyes.Well, more than usual, and probably the last time.

"What is it, my dear?" his mother asked again to comply with a remnant of politeness.

Udariv remained silent for a moment, then spoke.

"I would like to know, mother, father, did you wish to have me?"

His father frowned while his mother gave him an artificial smile.

"What a question, my precious! Of course!"

It was such an obvious lie that even the dumbest child wouldn't have believed.

"And do you love me?"

"You are asking strange questions today Udariv." exclaimed his annoyed father.

"I apologize. I would still like to know the truth. Please."

Then his mother raised her hand to her chest and wore the same expression she had when he received the first prodigy award so long ago.
