Voyage

'Well, what a strange turn of events this was...' thought Elliot as he was next line to be tested for entry to the University. He was just young enough to be a little too old for the average testee, but supposedly he could join the school if he was accepted after testing.

.....(Scene Break).....

While in the Southern coastal town with my troupe, I heard a shipman calling for passengers heading for Tarbean. He said that this destination was South of a city I actually knew in this world, a place called Imre.

Imre, although briefly glossed over during the trailer for Temerant, was supposedly adjacent to the famed University which that guy Kvothe attended. Haven't heard about that guy so he must not be THAT famous or he hasn't come to prominence yet.....' or he could just be made up for the purpose of the Trailor and is actually not real? I don't know...'

Eventually, after an internal debate, I decided to go and say my farewells to my troupe. Although we spent only a small amount of time together, it was enjoyable.

After the goodbyes, I ran to the docks and bought passage to Tarbean, then made my way to Imre from there. Traveling in this world is dangerous and it's easy to be cheated. Despite how young this body was, Elliot has seen much of the darkness in this world and knows how to stay low-key and out of trouble.

After paying the fees (I had a small stash of money collected from my generous show tips), and months of travel, I was in line to stand in front of the University personnel who will be questioning me. I learned a lot about the admission process from a few young men in Imre and actually read a few important books while there.

Not to brag, but my IQ is a solid 120, and if I can ace exams in my own advanced world, acing a test in this backward world should be easy. Moreover, why would a University (that isn't fed from primary schools) ask questions about topics they teach and expect you to know the answer before you're in school? Most likely standard questions that gauge intelligence and thinking capability, not knowledge of the subjects they teach.

....(Scene Break)....

In the dimly lit theater, towards the front row, several "Masters" were waiting for the next applicant to stand on stage.

Eventually, the tapping of footsteps sounded and a mildly nervous young man took center stage and waited for the incoming questions.

"Step forward young man..." the chancellor ordered. "Why are you here today?..."

"To attend the University Mr..." Elliot answered simply.

Every one of the masters chuckled lightly...." ah yes, most who stand on that stage do. You're aware that this university is for continuing education, not starting it aren't you young man?"

The look in Elliot's eyes spoke volumes to the masters, one of them, a deranged and disheveled man started cackling loudly...

"...hehe, that look is always priceless. Bye, bye!" Master Namer spoke sternly through his giggles.

Just like that, Elliot was walking out of the university a little less wealthy and somewhat confused.

'.....what the heck? There ain't standardized schools in this world, right? How can they say that the University is only for continuing education?....how ridiculous...'

Elliot decided to see what education is needed before one can attend the university because based on what his fellow testers were whispering about....it seems like he's gonna have to study a lot.

Moreover, something supernatural is going on in this world and he wants to see the truth behind the veil.

'Hmm....maybe inheriting a magician's body has affected me?...'
