Not all people are people

Walter managed to take advantage of Miran's helplessness while he was howling in pain. Although with one hand, Walter's attack power decreased, however, blow after blow turned the opponent's back into a mess of meat, blood and bones. He struggled in agony, but soon he finally went limp. But Walter did not stop there, he did not want to make a mistake again. He smashed the enemy's head.

Walter looked at his hand hanging on the pipe with a very strange expression on his face. He didn't feel the pain when it separated from his body and still, the pain never came. He realized that something had changed in him at the moment when emotions began to die off. He felt like an insensitive, cold machine and before such thoughts would have terrified him, but now that he has already become so…

"How did I manage to heal a broken back in a matter of seconds?" -Walter pondered -"Is it possible that I became a natural Awakened? Can I really regenerate? It's worth a try!"-he tried to tune in to the thoughts he had in his head when he regenerated and began trying to regenerate his palm.

The wound began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye, but that's it. The arm didn't grow back.

"Apparently, there is a limit to regeneration! Nothing, if I show myself well in the tests when I enrol in the army, then I will be given a military bionic prosthesis. But these are all things to come, first you need to survive this hell! "- he threw out the pipe and picked up Mirantz's blade- "The handle is too big, but it's better than a pipe." - he took off the unloading from Miran's corpse and tried to adjust it to himself, but even after tightening the adjustment straps as much as possible, the unloading still hung on him like an apron. But still, it's better than nothing, while the grenades and the blade are in unloading, it's still much more convenient than putting all this stuff in your pockets. He stuffed the first aid kit back into his school bag. I picked up the gun and checked its charge level.

"37%, not bad, if you shoot carefully, I can fill up three or four more. Now it's worth getting out of the city! You should not wait until the rescue team and troops arrive, and you should not even dream of evacuation! The best option is to wait out of town! " - Walter outlined the plan. He knew the city quite well and therefore it was not difficult for him to find the shortest route. He moved cautiously, looking around corners and constantly looking around. Along the way, he saw the war at its worst - the massacre of the innocent. Everywhere were the corpses of his compatriots, men, women, old people, children… The Mirans spared no one, cracking down in their favourite way - tearing bodies to pieces.

The Mirans had a cult of strength and it was considered shameful to use any ranged weapon. But at the same time, they liked to arrange explosions that turned people into mincemeat. Primitive cruelty. That's how Walter would describe their most terrifying trait.

But after Waking up, the person who almost vomited even less from the sight of blood did not show a trace of disgust or anger at the sight of corpses. Only emptiness. Along the way, he also saw several corpses of intruders and several quite alive Mirans, but he avoided them, realizing the stupidity of the attack, and there was no need to waste a pistol charge.

Suddenly, Walter heard the sounds of shooting, he also carefully looked around the corner from where the sounds came, there he saw three Federation fighters who opposed ten enemies, firing laser rifles. The result was expected — only two opponents were killed before the soldiers were torn to pieces. After that, the Mirans headed towards Walter. He jumped back, there was a manhole nearby, and the young man took shelter under it. Hanging on the stairs with his stump, and holding a pistol in the other, he strained his hearing with all his might. Suddenly, all the sounds intensified, he could clearly hear the water flowing in the sewer, as explosions were heard in the distance and…

How the Mirans pass over it. He waited for half a minute, then climbed out, he headed towards the corpses of the Federation military. He threw off the bag, and then the unloading of the Mirans and changed it to human unloading from a more or less whole corpse.

He picked up everything that could be useful to him from the corpses. He also took a laser rifle. Without one of the palms, there could be problems with aiming shooting, but suddenly before his eyes, there were scenes with the participation of the best shooters of the army from a documentary that he watched a few years ago, and from somewhere there was a confidence that if he had to shoot, he would not miss.

He decided to continue on his way. Along the way, he constantly heard the sounds of gunfire and explosions but avoided collisions by all means. Looking around the next corner, he saw a whole company guarding a house. As soon as they could, they shot back at the opponents, and behind the fence, there was a flying armoured personnel carrier that had descended.

"Strange, I didn't think that important people live in this area!"-Walter noted to himself. Unexpectedly, Walter noticed someone familiar among the soldiers - Anaz Rethel, a classmate who has a high affinity with the Essence of the Flash.

"So they protect the one who is about to wake up."-Walter understood.

"Hurry up! Hurry up! "- shouted Anaz. He was terrified, which made him rude to everyone.

"Nephew, take your sister with you, she should be at a friend's, just three minutes from here!" -the woman begged him, standing on her knees.

"Are you crazy, old woman?! Your lousy daughter has been dead for a long time! Don't make me die too!"-he shouted, kicking the woman in the stomach.

"Phew!"- sighed Walter, the emptiness in his soul began to be replaced by righteous anger, even the Mirans did not cause him such disgust. Yes, they killed his family and his brother-in-law and all the residents of the city, but the way Anaz acted with his relatives, is too much. He put the handguard of the rifle on the half-ruined wall in front of him, held his breath.

*Shot

He tried to squeeze the trigger as quickly as possible because an automatic rifle, unlike a pistol, released a continuous beam from its muzzle and if you overdo it, it will become much easier to find the shooter.

He got up and headed in the opposite direction, confusing his tracks.

"Dear Anaz, please get into the armoured personnel carrier faster, there is less and less time!" the driver of the armoured personnel carrier said, but he did not hear the answer, or rather the answer was screams. He got up from the steering wheel to sort out what was happening, but when he came out of the door of the vehicle, he saw the lifeless body of Anaz with a burnt hole in his head and a sobbing woman next to him. And the soldiers regrouped and began to scour the area.

"What happened here?"- he asked one of the soldiers.

"Someone shot our Awakened candidate."- the soldier replied.

"Did you shoot him? But who?"-the driver was clearly surprised by what had happened, the wound was clearly from a laser rifle, but he could not imagine who could kill the candidate for the Awakened.

"I have no idea, a small reconnaissance group went in the direction of the alleged location of the shooter." - he replied.

But Walter was already gone. He was already at the border at the exit of the city.

"I could leave now and just focus on survival, but in this case, how am I better than Anaz? But I'm not a hero, I'll just take and kill as many Mirans as there is enough charge in the rifle. After all, I promised not only to survive but also to kill as many of these bastards as I can! It's time to start hunting! " - a bloodthirsty smile appeared on the previously lifeless face.
