Chapter hundred and seventeen: no place called home

Elliott walked behind his sister. What was he supposed to say to make her feel better? She worshipped the ground their father walked on. Elliott must have opened his mouth a million times but no words came out.

"Jamie" He called out her name softly.

Jamie kept walking but she slowed down considerably. "It's okay, Elle. It's okay"

"Well, it's not okay. There is no way in hell that is ever okay. I don't understand why he did what he did, aren't you wondering why?"

Elliott walked faster to catch up with her. Her white dress was now tainted with mud. That type of dress was not meant for the forest.

"I...I.." Jamie knew why but for some reason she couldn't say it out loud without curling up like a ball and sobbing like a child. But if she kept a lid on everything she was feeling, she would be just fine. At least fine enough to make it to the castle without her brother picking her up.
