Cornered

Daryn sat in the bar of the inn looking at some papers with written notes in them he found on a table in the inn. The paper was obviously not from the village[they had no paper mill here] so it was obviously from another town or kingdom maybe. A traveller must have brought it here then.

The papers had different things written in them. One had a letter on it telling the recipient to get the items written on the paper. Another had a sketched picture of a criminal with a bounty on his head and another had what seemed like a decree made by the king of a kingdom. The rest was just scattered gibberish to Daryn. They didn't matter.

Infact nothing in the papers looked interesting to him. He was just looking for something to occupy his mind as he drank his ale and waited for Darla.

With the way things was turning out they may leave the village tomorrow instead of today as they had planned.

He took a sip from his mug and looked at the papers again. Two girls walked into the inn as the door bell notified everyone of their entry. One older than the other. In her teens. While the other looked like she was thirteen or fourteen years of age.

They chatted and giggled as they walked. Making little jokes with each other. Their laughters filled the now almost empty restaurant.

The only customer present apart from Daryn was a drunk man at the back seat with his head on the table snoring. The remaining was the cleaning staff and the bar lady at the bar cleaning the bar counter.

The girls walked a bee line to where Daryn was seated then the oldest tapped his shoulder to get his attention. He turned to see who it was. The little one spoke.

"Mr Daryn. You are sister Darla's patient right? Nice to see you again sir." Both girls had red colored hairs though the younger one had a brighter shade of red just like her demeanor.

They wore wool gowns. The older sister wore a hunter green while the younger wore red. Both sisyers in leather boots

"Hey Anya. How are you?"

"I'm fine thank you" she said cheerfully. "Where is sister Darla? Did she leave you?"

"She's in her room resting" Daryn answered with a raised brow. Then took another sip from his mug. "Did you go out?"

"Yes. Me and my sister went give our brother his lunch." Anya replied pointing to her sister that was standing beside her who wouldn't stop looking at Daryn.

"Oh. Your brother is at work?" Daryn asked looking at both girls now.

"Yes he does" Anya replied excitedly. "He makes tools and weapons and knives and shields and...and swords. He makes them for the warriors and the village. His a... em....."

"Blacksmith" the older sister replied for her sister.

"Yes a blacksmith"

Daryn nodded. "Thats good. I see his very important then"

Anya smiled happily. "Yes he is. He is VERY important thats for sure"

Daryn laughed at the girls giddiness. He then looked at the older sister.

"I didn't get to know your name yesterday. Whats your name miss?"

The girl looked surprised then she answered. "My name is Chaaya" she did not stop eye contact.

"It's nice to meet you Chaaya" Daryn replied.

"How did your trade go today?" Chaaya asked

"It was great. We sold our goods early and at a good gain to we still plan to enter the market again anyways."

"Thats good. So you and Darla are not done for the day yet?"

"Yes we are not." Daryn sighed. "She said we still have to get some extra things before we leave."

"Oh ok" Chaaya said in a low tone. Then Anya took over.

"Hey Mister Daryn," she said taking a seat next to Daryn at the bar. Chaaya followed suit. Sitting at Daryn's right

"Yesterday you said you were a lost one. How did you get to Azra exactly? Did you cross a gateway or something?" Anya asked

Daryn blew a breath. This was going to take a while.

"To be honest, i think i died before i got here" Daryn said.

The sisters expressed their shock. "You_ died?" Anya asked.

"I think i did. I'm not sure but i was in an accident before i got here."

"What kind?" Chaaya asked this time around.

"The gruesome type. Enough to kill me....as i thought at that time. Though when i got to Azra jungles i was pretty ok. Just little bruises....then i was hunted"

"Welcomed' as dad would say it" Anya chipped in

Daryn sigh laughed. "I was welcomed wasn't I ?"

Both sisters chuckled. "So which animal attacked you?" Anya asked. Daryn looked at her then drank from his mug again.

"A higher wolf" he answered as he dropped the mug on the table.

"Woah" both sister exclaimed already intrigued by his story. Atleast they were both good company that the papers he was reading.

He continued answering their questions. If they really wanted to know that much about his arrival in Azra, he did not mind telling them. What was there to hide anyway.

The three talked for a few minutes as Daryn told them how he got to Azra. The bartender even seemed interested as she looked in their direction each time Daryn began to answer a question. Until Anya dropped a hard nut.

"Mister Daryn, so what are your plans now you are in Azra. You are afterall a handsome young man. Do you plan to start a family?" She breathed in dramatically then "Are you planning to make a family with sister Darla?"

Daryn was thrown off. He look at the girl not knowing how to answer the question. For some reason she reminded him of Melissa his sister.

The sly little devil must have had it planned from the beginning. She just waited for the chance to drop the question when he least expected so he would be thrown off and if he tried giving an excuse, it would be seen through.

Daryn chuckeled. He kept his composure and drank from the almost empty mug of ale to ease the tension. All eyes were on him. Both the sisters and the bartender. Heck even the cleaning staff. Everyone wanted to know his answer.
