Kin

Darla noticed the change of his tone. The heaviness in it. She turned to find her mate's face saddened.

She cupped his face. Moving her thumb on the stubble on his cheek. "Hey, its ok; for all we know she may still be on Earth. Still alive. You can't know for certain she died Daryn" she said in a soft tone as she lightly trailed his face.

He relaxed to her touch. A warm rumble rolled from his throat. "I fear she did"

"Why is that?"

Daryn sighed. Looking for a way to explain his encounter before arriving in Azra without sounding crazy. "You see; when i arrived. Before i gained consciousness actually. I dreamt she was with me. Wounded and disoriented just as i was and she was calling to me...to help her...but i couldn't see her it was so dark. I could hear her. Hear her voice and i tried to save her...i really tried but i couldn't. No matter how i tried and she begged me not to let her go but then_,"

His face crumbled. Darla hugged him letting him cry on her shoulders. "We drifted apart Darla....i lost her"

"Shh. It's ok"

"I lost my little sister"

He sobbed for a while. When the tears stopped, he straightened. "How late is it; we need to make dinner and plan for our feast" he said cleaning the tears from his eyes.

"Yeah, its truly gotten late. Eric would be coming back soon for dinner. I wonder what her had eaten all this while."

Daryn snorted. "He'll manage but he is not gonna stop talking about it"

They both laughed and stood up then jumped down from the tree.

In the Moon Palace,

Selene was staring into the slow flowing river she used to watch her son. The bushes beside her rustled and shadows crept forward to the open and there stood Fenrir. His swaying in excitement. He walked to the moon goddess and sat beside her.

"Tomorrow he becomes your kin" Selene said flatly. Fenrir hummed and waged his tail.

"Be careful Fenrir. Thats my son we are talking about. Not another one of your dogs.

Fenrir heaved a heavy exasperated breath and opened a mental link with the goddess. She didn't refuse it.

"Ofcourse i know he is your son Selene thats why he is special. Do you know how many are able to survive my call even to say remain sane after, He has a trace of me running in his veins and still he doesn't feel different from it."

"That would be because of his heritage. He is a god afterall....even if he is mortal" Selene sighed at the last part of her sentence.

"A mortal one, but i have not seen a none beast god or goddess compatible with any of the beast gods before. Its either they fight the bond or they die from it. Young gods are proof to that,"

Selene said nothing and turned back to the river unable to argue further. "Lets see if he survives it after the full moon."

"And if he doesn't?"

"I'll just have to look for another champion for this tournament season and wait for my son to be reborn for the next"

The wolf god grimaced and watched the mortal god that would soon become kin.

Azra's Jungles.

"Do we leave early?"

Daryn shook his head. "It won't matter. The darkness does not hinder her."

"Then what should we do"

Daryn stopped in his tracks. He felt as though the weight of the situation would crush him. He didn't want to leave her. He couldn't and the fear. Fear she would wake up that day crying that he had left her. Abandoned her. And she would hate him for it and he would loose her. Was he making the right choice by leaving her?

What if he took her with. She would be with him. She would love him not hate. Even fight beside him. But he knew_ he knew he would loose her to battle. A battle way above her...He would be sending her to her death.

"I wish i didn't have to leave her" Daryn croaked as he fought back tears.

Eric sighed and put a hand on his friends shoulders to sympathize with him. "I know its hard my friend but we will be saving her from certain death." He tapped his shoulder "she will be safer here. Even better than with us" he smiled at his friend to try to cheer him up. Daryn could only manage a wry smile.

"C'mon lets go have lunch. I'm starving"

"She is holding a feast in honour of Selene tomorrow, Your invited."

"That's good I'll be there. Maybe that will be our chance" Daryn couldn't reply to that.

They entered the house clearing. Making long strides till they were inside the house.
