Exception

Just like that, two months passed in a flash. Other than eating, sleeping, and reading, Yang Lin hadn't thought of a thing. On this day, he exhaled a content sigh, resting the old-looking book with its fairly yellow pages, Yang Lin smiled faintly. Over the past two months, his body was proactively absorbing Spiritual Qi from the ambient arrays, albeit these were formations to suppress sound from echoing from one room to the next, they still provided some supplement for Yang Lin.

By now, he assumed that his physique wasn't a special constitution, but the fox within his body had played a crucial factor in these developments. Even that Goddess figure could not pay attention to it, so he felt he was rather safe from exposure. Currently, Yang Lin had made a couple of breakthroughs in his cultivation. From Qi Circulation, he managed to connect the meridians and open up the acupoints for Qi absorption.

The first realm was the Transcendent Metamorphosis. Next, he stepped into the 'Dantian Consolidation', which is a plane of cultivation divided into five stages.

- Connecting The Meridians.

- Acupoints Opening.

- Meridians Expansion.

- Elementary Stage Dantian.

- Final Stage Dantian.

Only after establishing the dantian would he be considered a fledged cultivator. By then, he could utilize various mantras and cultivation scriptures, draw energy, and enhance his prowess. If he isn't wrong, Ming'er should be at the Elementary Stage, and maybe she was already finalizing her dantian and preparing for another breakthrough.

Shaking his head, casting these thoughts to the back of his head, Yang Lin approached the pile of native books to try his luck with their study. Since the books were mostly translations, he needed not to go over them all. By now, he should focus on learning the four languages and that's that.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Hm?" Amidst his studies, Yang Lin heard a faint knocking on the door. Curious, he reached towards an oval remote control, it had both native and alien technology embedded into its craft, allowing it to control the array to communicate with the room's door. With a faint sliding noise, the door parted open, revealing a muscular man.

It was the guard who broke Yang Lin's wrist earlier. Both parties were surprised…

As for Yang Lin, he didn't expect a visit, especially by one of the responsible guards. As for the man, he could only scan the room in disbelief. Many papers littered the floor, obviously handwritten foreign scripts. What shocked his wits the most was Yang Lin's eyes, they had a silver radiance in them, resonating with a desolate aura that encased his body. Both parties blinked in surprise, Yang Lin was yet oblivious to his own situation.

By the time he blinked, his eyes regained their abyssal luster, deep and dark. As for his aura, it receded almost instantly, it made the man question his sanity, was he dreaming?

"Xiao Lin, you…" He was speechless, what did he just witness?

"Hm? Oh, I broke through, fortunately." Yang Lin said, feeling as though the reaction was a bit exaggerated. Frowning, he observed the man's awkward expression.

"Yeah… You did…" A sudden breakthrough without resources is indeed something shocking. However, the phenomenon he had witnessed far eclipsed the breakthrough revelation. He couldn't help but wonder about this kid's background, and is that related to Grandma Mo's reaction and care for him?

For some reason, the man felt that he had witnessed something he shouldn't have, arousing a wave of cold sweat to sneak down his back.

You saw nothing, nothing happened. He told himself. Shaking his head, the man regained his composure and said, "I'm here to accompany you to the training facilities."

"Training?" Yang Lin was caught aback. He tilted his head and said, "I am yet to conclude my assignments, is that okay?"

"Well…" The man looked around the room, still shocked by Yang Lin's progress. He said, "You can say I'm making you an exception, all the other children have finished their assignments a month back. Now, they're all going through course field training. You seem to be doing well yourself, so, I'll allow you four hours of free-roaming every day."

The man explained his attitude. Then he added, "This will be your chance to get a new fit of clothing as well, these robes are in tatters, and might bring you unwanted attention once you enter the Military School. After all, they're alien fashion."

'They've been out for a month, huh…' Yang Lin thought. Then, he asked, "Did Ming'er leave her room too?"

The man seemed to notice something, he gave Yang Lin a weird look before asking, "You like her? But…"

"My question was simple." Yang Lin intersected, he knew what the guard was about to say.

After a brief hesitation, the guard said, "No. She finished her assignments, but locked herself in her room, apparently she doesn't desire to leave anytime soon." But of course, she was but a public enemy at this point, even his crew would occasionally bask in her misfortune and envy the City Lord.

"I see." Yang Lin nodded, slowly getting up from the mountains of papers and ink, his clothes ragged up.

"Take me to her room, and we can consider our debt as settled." He said afterwards.
