CHAPTER 7

THE PEGASUS

The horn consists of seven colors , the pointed top was red , before red , orange , under it yellow , green , blue , indigo and violet. The glitter on those colors was making it more beautiful.

What should we do now ? Think about something ! Brooklyn said. They were discussing when Autumn sees the same red dinosaur flying and coming towards them. Hey Violet look ! That's the same dinosaur youm met in the jungle right ! Everyone turned around ,

and a ray of hope awoke in everyone , they started to wave at the dinosaur , who was already coming towards them.

He landed and said:

𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚛𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚒𝚜 𝚝𝚘 𝚋𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚒𝚝𝚜 𝚘𝚠𝚗𝚎𝚛 , 𝚊𝚖 𝚒 𝚛𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 ?

Yes ! Yes ! they all got excited.

𝚌'𝚖𝚘𝚗 𝚕𝚎𝚝'𝚜 𝚛𝚒𝚍𝚎 𝚘𝚗 𝚖𝚢 𝚋𝚊𝚌𝚔 , 𝚒 𝚠𝚒𝚕𝚕 𝚍𝚛𝚘𝚙 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚊𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗.

Then he carried them on his back and flew up in the sky , ten to fifteen minutes later he took them down to a desert , the sun was now risen and the desert was very hot , the sunlight was slapping directly on their face , the sand was very soft but very hot.

This is a desert. What to do here? The dinosaur then breathed in and , whifflet with force , the sand began to fly fast , it seemed as if a dust storm had come , they all put their hands over their eyes. Several minutes later the dust stopped flying. They removed their hand from their eyes. There was a lot of sand on the edge now and there was a big board under the sand which was now visible.

It was the world's largest checker board measuring 4.89 meters (18 ft 3 inch each side) the squares were black and white and each square measured 9 × 9 meters , the pieces were 45 inches. The board consists of 100 light and dark squares with 20 pieces on each side. WOAH !! This is too big , said Brooklyn. I've never seen such a big checkerboard in my life , Leo said. Everyone was surprised. Then Violet asked , what do we have to do ? 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚖𝚞𝚌𝚑 , 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚠𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚊𝚝 𝚊𝚗𝚢 𝚌𝚘𝚜𝚝. But how will we play this , this is so big , we will have to see this from the front , instead from above , this will make it even more difficult , 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚌𝚊𝚗 𝚒 𝚍𝚘 𝚒𝚗 𝚒𝚝 ? 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜 𝚒𝚜 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚖𝚊𝚍𝚎 𝚋𝚢 𝚖𝚎 , 𝚒 𝚠𝚊𝚗𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚘 𝚠𝚒𝚗 , 𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚍𝚕𝚢 !!

𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚒 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚐𝚘 , he said sadly and leave.

Then the same evil girl came there who now looks weaker than before , you have to play this with me , I will play with black pieces and you have to play with white. But before starting listen to the rules.

The uncrowned pieces will move one space diagonally forward , but can capture diagonally forward or backward.

Kings can move any number of squares.

Enemy pieces can and must be captured by jumping over the enemy piece.

If a jump is possible it must be done , even if doing so incurs a disadvantage.

Piece CANNOT move backwards towards its own home space but CAN move backwards if a piece is going to be killed.

A piece will become a king if it reaches the promotion line of the board (the most distant row on the opponent's side) and stops on it.

The ordinary pieces of black ones can capture the white king but the white one can not do it.

If the player has the opportunity to capture one or more of the opponent's pieces , then the player must do so , whether it harms you.

If a player fails to make a capture then one will be penalised by having the piece that could have performed the capture huffed , i.e. removed from the board.

Only one among you will lead it and guide the rest of the players , other players can't move according to their wishes.

Just go one box ahead where you want your piece to jump , the piece will itself follow you.

If a player is put in a position where they cannot move , they lose , losing your piece will kill you which totally depends on the leader.

Only the black piece will have an extra turn if it was able to capture white piece.

You all will lose if at least two among you will be killed.

If the king killed you , remember the king is venomous.

What ??How absurd these rules are ! This is not fair ? You're cheating !Clara said. If you think I'm cheating you may quit , the evil kid replied. But what is your enmity with us ? Why do you want us to die ? We are not saying that we give up , we are just saying that you are doing us wrong , Autumn said. The rules are fixed. It's up to you whether you want to play or die , the evil kid replied. We're playing and we will win , I'm their leader , Wan said.

So , let's start the game , said the evil kid. Wan moved on to the game. You will start the game , the evil kid said.

The total number of four rows were filled with 20 pieces each side , two rows were empty in between.

Wan moved her first white piece from the right side , from the very corner of the fourth line and the black piece moved its second piece from the left side to the right side. Then she moved her very corner piece from the right side which was now colliding with black and the black piece moved its piece from the right corner to the right side at the very corner of the board. Now the jump was mandatory for Wan so she killed the black from left to right and the black one killed her piece from the right corner of the third row. Then she moved the piece in the middle to the left and the black one moved towards white piece. She killed it moving from left to right but the black piece killed her piece too. Now from the third row she moved her second piece from left to right. And the black piece from the third row moved to the right from the left corner. Wan moved the second piece on the right side of the third row to the left , the black piece who was in front now moved to the left side , again the jump was mandatory for Wan , she killed it without any harm to herself.

The black piece from the left corner moved to the right and Wan killed it , again she wasn't harmed by it. The black piece from the second row on the right side , on the second number , moved to the right. Suddenly , Wan made such a move that killed the three pieces of black forward and backward. All her friends who were standing on the king side , were applauding. After about two hours , when all the three rows went empty and all the pieces were wandering forward and backward when Wan moved a piece which killed her three pieces altogether , the evil kid was laughing at them. After some time , she forgot to kill black and her piece huffed. Now only eight pieces were left , seven belong to Wan and her friends and one was without any leader. Just because the black was having an extra turn by killing white , black was winning.

They were now panicking , the three pieces of black were crowned and the black was not emptying their king space. The piece without any leader was killed by the king from the last corner , jumping over six rows.

You're not emptying your king place , you are cheating , said Brooklyn.

Where it was written it is mandatory to make your pieces crowned , the evil kid said smiling dominantly. Black kings were killing white pieces , jumping over many boxes.

Wan ordered Violet , who was standing in fifth row to move to the very corner and saved Violet. After that she gathers her friends' two pieces together without any empty box in between so that the king can not kill them and save their life. What are you doing , Wan ? Violet said. The leader always saved their followers first , this is the rule of life , Wan replied. She moved her piece and the crowned piece of black killed Wan from the first corner to the last corner just because the king's place wasn't empty of black pieces. The game was over and Wan sacrificed herself.

The crowned piece of black killed her so hard and threw her out from the board. Wan !!! Wannn !! What happened to her ? Everyone ran to her.

She will not wake up anymore. In seven hours , the poison will spread all over her body and she will die , the evil kid said laughing. I am sad that you guys didn't lose and still manage to go to the next turn , but I am so delighted that you lost your very smart companion , she said further and disappeared.

The checkerboard started sinking into the ground and converted into stairs.

Everyone was staring at it amazingly. Let's go under it , said Parker. They went down the stairs. There was a water pond , and giant lily pads were placed on the water pond. Brooklyn went ahead to check the water , it was very cold but not deep , she dared to step on the lily pad which was as hard as crystal. C'mon friends it will not sink , she called everyone. They all crossed the pond easily and now they met a ditch. Ladders were placed to go under the ditch. Everyone went down , and was surprised to see a very giant and beautiful door in front of them.

Woah !! That's so adorable , looking like a palace door , Brooklyn said.

Yeah !! And the way to enter it would be more adorable. She listened to her and her worried face reappeared.

It will not be that fancy , Parker said, raising his eyebrows. How ?? Do you know how to open the door ? Violet said. Umm... I'm not completely sure , but I think , yes I know , he replied.

What do you have ? Clara asked. I've a key , which I found in the jungle. Everyone among us utilizes the present gifted by the animals they met. I'm sure this is the time to use the key , Parker said. Oh ! Yes , I remember , put this on the door , Leo said excitedly. He put the key in the door and a bright light came on and the door opened. Behind the door was a white horse-like animal with wings on it , but it was petrified.

Is that real? Parker said. It seems like a showpiece ,Clara said. So ,Is it made of iron? Autumn asked.

There was a pit on his head. Maybe it's his. Put it on his head here. Violet marked on his pit. Violet took the horn from Brooklyn's hand and tried to fix it in the pit. After twisting it two to three times , the horn fixed and glitters started to spread everywhere , the horse hair started to blow smoothly and started to catch the color flying around and his whole hair were shining with glitter and his whole body was clear white and horn was shining too much , he had a rainbow stamp behind his tail and whole body was pure white. He slowly opened his eyes , his eyes were blue in color. The whole desert began to turn green , it started to rain lightly ,

and there arose a great sea , large lush trees and plants came , and the weather became very nice because of the light rain. Thank you for freeing me. I'm Pegasus , a Unicorn.
