"No one knows about the place." Annoyance etches Stephen's voice.

"He's going to check public records," says the older man. "He might already know about it. Drake has friends - loyal friends - that will follow any lead for him no matter how small or large."

"Don't get your panties in a wad," says Stephen. "I wiped all evidence of your name out of the courthouse. The cottage is recorded under Valerie Rockton."

"Who the hell is that?"

"You don't remember?" Stephen laughs. "She was Hugo Robson's mistress. Don't you see? This is the perfect place to hide out and plan our next move because it can't be traced to either of us. That's why it's safe."

"You really don't know Drake the way I do. He's a man of his word. A determined man. And that's what makes him dangerous. He's going to turn this town upside down until he finds what he's looking for."
