Heading to Davenport

The sight that greeted Melva as soon as she went out of her chamber and gathered around the centre table was horrifying. The three sirens had rope around their necks like collars and leashes while Davis was holding onto the other end of the rope, one pull away from strangling the three of them at the same time.

Melva knew he did not do that for bluffing. She was sure he could easily strangle them to death in a blink of an eye. It was an interesting way to make the sirens spill everything by threatening them. Davis was clearly showing them that if they tried anything funny, he would end their lives in an instant.

Ivor and Weldon were standing on each side of Davis, ready to back him up if he needed any help. Melva doubted he would need any, but the reassurance was greatly appreciated. Twila also stood by, pointing a sword at the sirens; she must have found the weapon from the stash that they had moved from Vance's armoury. Rosetta had her wand out to intimidate them even more.
