Chun-Soon's Perspective (Continuation of Chapter 6)
____________________________
"You have all the books you may read, so waste your time wisely. Be right back before evening, and I will grab you something to earth," I announced on the other side of Chun-Cha's room. "Don't destroy anything, or else I'll kick you out, understand?"
There were dozens of important notes and documents I left inside that hidden room. And concealed inside that secret studio was another chamber meant for dissecting both vampires and werewolves.
"Yes, doc!" Chun-Cha replied, while grabbing the medical book lying on the floor. "I can read any book here, right?"
"Anything you want."
As soon as I gave my reply, I went for the door and prepared to leave the room. But before I left, a sudden thud caught my attention, paired with Chun-Cha's voice calling out for me.
"By the way, thanks, Chun-Soon, for letting me stay. I don't know why you're so kind to me, but thank you…. for everything you've done."
Chun-Cha expressed her gratitude to me, since I saved her from the streets. Little did she know about her origins or how I found her washed up away from the river. I refused to say that I found her wounded from the waters and had multiple injuries all over her body. Chun-Cha's amnesia also made it easier for me to hide her true lineage.
Chun-Cha was a werewolf hiding behind the den of vampires while living an ignorant life inside that hidden room. It was my job to protect her, since I vowed to the old man to amend my sins. This event was my perfect opportunity to relieve myself from killing both vampires and werewolves. But I could never accept that thought since I was a doctor who killed lives instead of saving them.
"You're welcome."
Those few words became a burden for me to say. How could I, when I already killed hundreds of werewolves from my prime? So I went away from my office without replying to Chun-Cha's words. I did not slam the door like I used to before when I first met Chun-Cha.
After all, that werewolf slightly motivated me to become a better person... I just wished that happened, especially with these stained hands of mine.
Before leaving the place, I grabbed a bottle filled with crimson liquid inside. It was a container that I brought from the dissecting room. That receptacle was my experiment which I worked on for fourteen months. And now that I finally made the blood, it was just around twenty potencies. That number was enough to cater for the illnesses of a vampire.
As soon as I got out, I immediately called the medical staff and prepared for our patient. Since it would be a busy day today, there was no time for me to monitor Chun-Cha.
However, instead of heading towards the operating room, I stopped by Min-Joon's office. Although that bastard scared the shit out of my client, he was still the leader of his little organisation "brood" around this town. That man was also a candidate to be a royal vampire from the international group known as the "Coven" of vampires.
After giving a knock on the door, Min-Joon shouted, inviting inside. As soon as I stepped foot inside his office, a collection of watches and clocks rested on the shelves. Despite his arrogant demeanour, Min-Joon was a classy man. He owned dozens of lavish things that could buy an entire town.
In front of the man himself were countless signed paychecks with stapled documents. I could only guess those papers belonged to the other directors of this hospital, since Min-Joon was the one funding the place.
Upon walking in front of Min-Joon, he grinned at me while seated in his favourite chair. He brushed his hair and fixed his collar before speaking to me with an assholic tune.
"Welcome, Min-Joon. It's great to see you! Oh! But I think those directors are looking for you, since you have a patient to take care of," Min-Joon greeted, with his arms both extended at each side.
"Here's the one you asked for. After drinking this bottle, tell me how you feel," I replied, while handing out the container to him.
"Always strict as always, my beloved doctor! But that's alright! At least you're helping me, my friend."
As soon as he stood from the chair, his legs gave out, disrupting his balance. Fortunately for him, Min-Joon had quick reflexes and grabbed hold of the desk before hitting the board. Beads of sweat slid on his face as he growled in pain to himself.
"I…. kinda need your help."
Despite his boastful nature, Min-Joon was more open when talking with me. He was willing to show off his weakness to me rather than to those vampires in Brood. If those Broodlings knew Min-Joon was under medication, they wouldn't follow him as a leader anymore.
I, who had no interest in the throne, was the perfect escape partner in crime with Min-Joon. And since our goals aligned with each other, I had no other choice but to help him succeed. However, there was just one catch for me to share his power.
"I've already told you this, but you need to drink the blood of a werewolf!"
"NO!" Min-Joon shouted. "Anything but that spiteful liquid! I would rather have the Broodlings kill me than drink that dirty blood."
"But you're dying... And this medicine I created is just around 20 potency. I could improve it, but it would take me a few more months. And I can't promise you any excellent results at all," I answered, while watching Min-Joon devour the entire glass of my mixed liquid. "And that contains partially the blood of a werewolf…. I extracted the things that would kill you, but…."
"I don't care…. You give me what I want, so I will give you what you want. That's all that is to it. Nothing more…. Nothing less," Min-Joon growled at me, and motioned his hands for me to leave. "I'll transfer the money to your bank account. And what do you even do with that pool worth of money?"
"None of your business, Min-Joon."
After our exchange, I left the office without saying another word, with the bottle clipped in my hand. Fortunately, Min-Joon did not experience any side-effects from drinking the partially mixed blood of a werewolf to his genes.
Min-Joon's illness was the threat of vampiric existence. Since his cells attacked his own body, Min-Joon needed the blood of the werewolf to neutralize those cancer cells. And those cancer cells could only appear in one out of one million vampires living in this world.
If he continued refusing my proposal, Min-Joon would have no other choice but to accept his body from destroying himself. I could only give him pain medications, but I cannot stop those cells from attacking his body.
Not everyone would have this illness, considering that it was a rare disease. But some vampire theorists mentioned that this sickness would only apply to hybrid individuals who do not possess the entire blood of a vampire.
If word came out that Min-Joon was half human and a half-vampire, the Brood would definitely kick his ass and exclude him from his own organization. Min-Joon would also lose his chance of becoming a royal vampire from the If worst comes to worst, he would
But since he had given me this luxurious hospital, the medical team and I planned on finding a cure for that damn disease. Min-Joon placed his bets on me, waiting for me to create that cure. He chose me as the leader of that team that specializes in creating the medication.
Min-Joon even offered me the seat of becoming a doctor. But if I became one, I would not have time to cater for his needs. So I refused that chair and worked on creating that drug in exchange for cash.
[You have received mails!]
A notification alarmed me, with something vibrating inside my pockets. As I reached out for my phone, a text saying I just received money surprised me. That mountain of cash belonged to Min-Joon as payment for my actions.
That crooked man even added an extra on top of his paycheck, considering that I improved my medication compared to before.
I hurriedly sent the money to a private hospital, away from Seoul, Korea. As soon as I sent my money, the hospital charged me for their effort. Those machines and medical staff took my money away from my credit card. And since my uncle's disease was one of a kind, the entire world had no medication that could fight his disease. His cancer cells, which had a novel form from Min-Joon, ate his body away. It only activated when a werewolf sprinkled his blood inside my uncle. I also wanted to help him, but my uncle refused my offer and told me to work here as a surgeon. As of today, my uncle continued sleeping. And he would only wake up around noon, which would also hit my surgery schedule.
Unfortunately, as it was, I could not help but miss my opportunity to talk to him today. However, I already messaged him about the details for today's agenda. My uncle always loved reading my texts, which I hastily complied with.
Within a few hours, I spent the entire day inside the operating room. And as soon as I finished my operation, my device alarmed me inside my pocket. It would only notify me if someone entered my office.
