Adam's point of view
"Sarah, you've got a problem! Can you tell me how I look?" In the midst of Diana's conversation with other relatives' guests, I asked Sarah a dumb question like an idiot.
"Fuck you, Adam! You're a jerk! You came all the way? I despise you." Sarah gave me a disapproving look and pushed me away as if I were delighted about the wedding! I felt suffocated in this relationship. I knew she was on board with my plan, but I also knew she detested the idea of me getting married to someone else. We were deeply in love with one another. Seriously, we've been dating for five months, and I've been sleeping with her almost every day of that time. Sarah and I were enthralled by each other's passion and physical attraction, as well as our intense emotions. I knew it was difficult for her, but it was complicated for me, given that I was certain that, following my marriage and divorce, I would lose Diana for all time if I went through with it. It wasn't easy to say goodbye to Diana! I admit that I had considered confessing to Diana on several occasions, but every time I attempted to tell her the truth, she sobbed, and I never lied in front of her tears.
"Hello, Sarah! Please bear with me; you understand that I had no choice because we've talked about it a thousand times. Sarah, please hold on a sec." I attempted to dissuade Sarah, but she simply ignored me.
"Adam, hurry up," my friend Jack yelled as he pulled me aside. "All of your friends are waiting, and Diana is on her way to see you."
It was the largest and most crowded wedding that had ever taken place. If I were to get married to the person I love in such a setting, I would be the happiest person on the planet at the time. My parents spent a fortune on the preparations for this wedding. Unique and expensive flowers were everywhere, even the chairs were plated with real gold, and I loved the sea view. It was absolutely breathtaking. However, unfortunately, it was a heartbreaking experience at the time. My best friend and I were coerced into getting married.
Not to mention that it appeared to be a royal wedding as if my parents had invited everyone in the entire country! All of our relatives, acquaintances and even some of my college friends were invited to the party.
When Diana clung to my arms and screamed excitedly into my ears, I realized I had returned to earth. "Let's go on our honeymoon," she said. I was terrified and startled at the same time at that moment. After that, I fixed my gaze on her "What kind of honeymoon? I didn't make any reservations. I was under the impression that we were going to stay at our house or in a hotel or something."
My parents encouraged me to book a flight to Thailand so that I could spend a week there with my wife, but I was unable to do so. In the first place, I made a promise to my girlfriend Sarah that I would never touch Diana; in the second, what would I do with Diana on my honeymoon by myself? No, I'm serious!
Diana's eyes widened in surprise, "Adam, but your parents have informed me that they have booked a week in Thailand for us!"
My breath caught in my throat when my father came to my side and said, "I've made a reservation for you both. The gift is for you both as a wedding gift from me."
I was taken aback and gasped. I was struggling to take deep breaths. I couldn't stop coughing, as if I'd lost my ability to breathe "Dad! When and how will this happen?"
The flight tickets and hotel reservations were handed to me by my father without giving me a chance to say anything or refuse. He simply raised his brows at me and handed me the tickets and passports. "Take it and get out of here. We've arranged for a limo to pick you and your wife up." He emphasized the word your wife in order to remind me that I needed to look after her as well.
I sighed and nodded, then expressed gratitude to my father, saying, "Thank you for such an incredible gift."
Sarah approached Diana from behind and stopped her. "So, what are your plans for the rest of the day? Is it possible to come to your house?" I was aware that Sarah was concerned about what I was going to do later. In fact, even I was baffled as to how I would manage to spend several days under the same roof and in the same room with Diana while remaining completely untouchable. I had no feelings for Diana, but I was confident that I was obligated to sleep with her as a husband's duty, which was an impossible mission for me to complete.
Diana expressed her excitement and pride by announcing, "My husband and I are going on our honeymoon to Thailand."
"Thailand!" Sarah exclaimed, narrowing her eyes and shooting me with deadly stares.
I gulped nervously and tried not to look at Sarah because she might figure out what was going on. The rest of the conversation was utterly ignored, and I wrapped Diana up in my arms and whispered into her ears, "let's go now."
In front of the guests and our families, Diana kissed me on the cheeks once more and then announced, "It's time to say goodbye." "We're going on a trip to Thailand. Please wish us a long and happy marriage."
We took the same route to the limo. Diana hugged me and wrapped her arms around my neck as we sat in the backseat of the limo; "Thank you so much for agreeing to be married to me! Adam, you have my heartfelt affection."
I felt sorry for her because I didn't dare to lie and say, 'I love you, too, Diana,' even though I wanted desperately to. After all, I was guilty, and I knew it sooner or later; once the truth comes out, Diana will despise me even more.
I drew back and cupped Diana's cheeks, saying, "The driver is going to notice us. Please hold on until we arrive." I said it in a sweet voice, but in reality, I was preoccupied with thoughts of what I needed to do later.
When Diana placed her head against my chest, my heart began to pound and beat rapidly; I wasn't sure if I was afraid or if I was harboring feelings for her that I didn't want to admit. I was definitely perplexed at the time. My inner voice said, "no way, I'm not in love with Diana," and I shook off the strange thoughts. 'I adore her as my best friend, and I adore Sarah as my girlfriend.'
Until we got to the airport, Diana was almost asleep on my chest, exhausted. When we arrive, I gently shake her body as if to welcome her. "We've finally arrived, Diana. Get up."
Suddenly, Diana opened her eyes slowly and looked at me with adoring eyes, saying, "Don't ever leave me, or I'll die."
I swallowed and cleared my throat. Her words caught me completely off guard. "What exactly are you referring to? You're not going to die, I assure you."
She kissed the back of my hand and said, "I'm sorry." She shook her head and pulled my hand; she said, "I'm sorry. Perhaps I'm not going to die because I'm going to commit suicide."
Her words caused a shiver down my spine. I had no idea Diana cared about me to such an extreme degree until now.
"I've always adored you as my childhood friend and as my little sister, and nothing on this planet will ever make me want to abandon you." I patted her on the back of her head.
"Are you sure?" she inquired as she jumped to my lap and smirked.
"Yes, absolutely," I assured her with a nod.
The driver opened the door for us, and I assisted her out of the limo by linking my arms around hers. The two of us walked through the airport, making sure to finish our papers and perform the final check until Sarah called me on my cell phone and said, "If you take one more step towards the plane, you will never see me."
I couldn't think of anything to do, so I screamed, pretending to be confused. As if I was having a conversation with one of my college friends, "What exactly happened between you? Was it an accident? I'm on my way to the hospital right now."
And then I hung up the phone.
"What happened?" Diana inquired, raising her brows in perplexity.
I expressed my regrets to her, "We should leave right away. One of my friends was involved in a car accident. Actually, he was struck by a car as he was crossing the street. He is in desperate need of my help and support. I'll drive you to our house and then pick you up at a later time."
"However, you are unable to leave at this time. We really should...." She was trying everything she could to stop me, but I cut her off in mid-sentence. "I can't just walk away from my friend. He is in a dangerous situation, and the person who called me happens to be another of my friends. He could die at any moment, and I can't just go off and have a good time without thinking about him." With my words, I was able to persuade her. I executed my actions flawlessly.
She took a deep breath and said, "I understand what you're saying, and that's why I believe we should be with him right away. I'll accompany you to the hospital."
"Wait, what?"
