Collecting evidences

If Mrs. Savereida is critical now then that can be a reason for me to move faster to get the traitor by myself.

I gathered myself up and exited the room, stepping on the shattered pieces of the phone on the floor more, crushing it like how the owner did me dirty. I glided my palm into my neck and checked on my wrist. I'll be seeing them shade sooner.

I quickly sent a message to German, asking him to update me of Mrs. Saverieda state because I will not present myself there.

Immediately, I grabbed a jacket and a black cap on my drawer as well as a gun, which I inserted into my short shorts. I need to go to San Francisco to look for that woman. And I would enter every cafe just to confirm something.

I cannot let her be the reason of risking German and the dog. Should there be a better thing to do but to know and give them the real culprit that is costing the life of Saverieda's woman.

There she is, cleaning the tables as the guests leave the cafe. And she really chose to work on a cafe that is unpopular and this small.

Cafe de Estreis.

The door ringed when I entered and her supposed to be warm smile for the customer halted on her lips. I passed to her nearest side just to make her understand that I found her and I am here exactly just for her.

I am already seated on the far-most corner of the cafe but her gaze remained stuck on the door I've entered. I leaned on the mirrored wall behind me, watching her, or let's say observing her every little move. Every little detail that would prove to me that she is the real traitor.

After a while, she continued cleaning the tables, greeting customers as they enter, serving them their orders. She looks so passionate about giving her best service. I watched how her lips stretch for a smile and how it instantly falter whenever she turns her back on them.

Hmmm. Someone is not happy to see me here.

Her hair is now tied into a clean bun and it is screaming the color of the woman's hair I saw the other night. She is wearing a black apron on the top of her white uniform shirt and black slacks. Some of the strands of her hair are falling off the bun and it seems that it made her prettier.

It is very obvious that she is aware that I am watching her now because of the frequent creasing of her forehead whenever she do not need to interact with this cafe's customers.

Clumsily, she spilled a glass of water on the table and it flowed until the other edge. She seemed to left the rag so she needed to enter the cleaning and disinfecting room to get one.

My eyes landed on the fallen handkerchief on the floor. I rose from my seat and paved my way to pick it up.

As soon as my palm touches the fabric, I immediately identify that it is using the same fabric. It is very similar to the one I saw under the cabinet, it's just that this has different colors. I recognized the same embroidery as well. And the letters stitched in it.

I turn my gaze on the room she entered and our eyes automatically met the moment she got out of the door.

I already hid the handkerchief on my jacket when she raked her eyes on me wholly. I pulled my cap down to hide my eyes as I turned around again, to leave the cafeteria without interacting with her.

I got to check something.

I reached the center and directed up to my room to hide the handkerchief in the last drawer, inserting it in my folded jeans' pocket. I remembered where her room is because of the scene where she is glaring at Deither and me before. The back of their building has no trees to jump in, so instead of making a commotion by kicking her door, I entered Rene's room to look for the keys since there is no one there at the moment.

But that was short-lived.

I immediately hid under his thick wooden table when his voice and someone else's voice neared the office. I watched how their feet steps forward near the table I am in. And I pushed myself even more on the corner of the table when Rene sat on his swivel chair. His lower body is now facing me.

He moved his right foot forward so I adjusted my body again. My head is now touching the top of the drawer and my side position is not making it all easy, given that the cut on my arm has not healed fully, and now it is responsible to assist my body weight in a non-ideal position. I twisted the wrist that was being strained earlier.

"Beatriz is now under surveillance and they are collecting more evidences along the way." I heard a familiar voice say. That is surely Givannci, the head investigator of the mafia.

What evidences? I got everything under my hold. And I haven't shared what I witnessed that night.

"She left traces in her room. We entered her newly rented apartment unit this afternoon as soon as we received a tip and found these bandages and medicines that are used to treat a grave wound. We also found a gun on her drawer and it matched the bullet which hitted Mr.Crayne ."

Why would she hide those things there? She is that stupid?

"Continue the investigation and make sure you are pointing your finger at the right culprit. You know how Luther hates sloppy work, especially now that he lost one of his top partners and Remus is not functioning accordingly." Rene stated.

After a while of information sharing, Givancci left the room. The blade of the sword almost cut me on the leg when Rene suddenly dropped her sharp sword on the floor, cm away from the whole of my right leg. My reflection under the table is also seen on the blade.

"You still got your bad habit of sneaking on my space," he commented.

I didn't respond, still stuck in the same position because he is not moving his feet and his body away from the table even if he knew I am just under. And now I also need to consider the blade that is so ready to cut me.

"What are you doing here?"

"To snatch a key" I honestly said under.

He moved his sword again and it almost cut my other leg again. I revealed myself out of the table as soon as I saw a little opening when he pushed the swivel chair away from the table a bit.

He leaned on his chair as I compose myself after all the bending.

"You got the news so why are you out of the vicinity of the center this morning and this afternoon?"

"I have to check on something,"

"You mean someone?" he probed.

"Some assigned assassin who came to check her on the cafe saw you leaving the place."

I steadied my eyes on him, silent.

"You are moving without the ruler's command." he seriously remarked.

What is the worth of having a great skill if I would let someone rule over what I have and needed to do? What makes me different from his puppets if I would let him dictate everything to me, everytime?

I didn't respond to that.

"You should understand that there are lives on the line."

Of course, he would know about that deal.

"I am aware of that."

"Then do what is asked to you, not what interests you. You are now on the blame for Mrs. Saverieda's critical condition. She is still fighting for her life in the hospital. I understand the reason why you didn't extend a help on that mission, but the kid seemed to not allow any reasons at the moment."

Oh, he already made me face an almost death.

"He's been staying in the hospital up till now. So pray that he won't lose her. You wouldn't want what he might do to you if something unfortunate happens. Remember that Luther is completely on your his side."

If my life would only be the one at risk then I would definitely pull all their patience till it ran out.

I left the room, no plans to continue going in her room now. She is already under investigation. I can't cover her up anymore...especially now that everything is basically pointing at her.
