From Plummet To Summit

The mysterious figure sighs. After a few minutes he'd finally woke up and viewed his new surroundings. The mysterious figure's wounds were no where near severe, merely he was covered in bumps and bruises no deeper than the skin that covered him. He puts his hand into his pocket and sighs once more, but this time it's different. This time it's a sigh of relief.

"So," he starts, "Found a way out of this one?"

I shake my head gently left then right in response. I hadn't even tried looking for one, I'de only waited in anticipation, hoping that they didn't give the mysterious figure some sort of sleeping supplements that would never wear off.

"This room is most likely time gated, anything I could do wouldn't work in this situation."

I remember the powerful light saber he had wielded only yesterday, now useless to whatever rules govern this weird predicament. Yay.

"What about the coffee pot?" the mysterious figure says as he starts towards the corner.

I hadnt thought of the coffee pot since we were locked in. What use did it even do these time criminals to lock us here?

"There's still coffee in here but it's cold."

I ridicule the idea of the mysterious figure drinking strange cool coffee out of the random pot. However, I remind myself, there is seemingly nothing else of substanance in the enclosed space - a void without the endlessness, an asylum without madness. A comically stereotypical set of villains, I chuckle to myself.

Finally, I speak up, "Where would we have gone anyways. Before we were locked in here."

"North, I believe. To the mountains."

"The mountains?" I exasperate, "Those are miles away."

"I have a short cut," the mysterious figure gives me a quick grin, before returning his focus to the coffee pot.

"Why me?"

"Please elaborate. I could ask you the same question, but I'm sure you wouldn't have a meaningful answer." He doesn't leave his gaze from the coffee pot.

"I mean, why did you rescue me from the time police. I'm sure it was the right or moral thing to do or whatever, but surely there s something more to it."
