Celeste tried to focus on other things than the man in front of her even though all he seemed to be focused on was looking at her.
She couldn't help but wonder with the odd way he was behaving if he was sick or perhaps on something and that was the reason he didn't come for coffee that morning.
"Are you feeling alright?" She asked Bane as she set the coffee in front of him, ignoring the look of the other employee when she took the drink from her. Of course people would be reacting, someone would have had to have been blind to not realize that it was the Bane Black who was acting like an enchanted love sick puppy with the new employee.
"Like maybe you're sick or something and that's why you're doing this." the look in his eyes shifted for a second before they changed back to the odd look of affection and desire he had been giving her since he stepped into the coffee shop.
"Hmm, I don't think so." Bane replied as he took a sip of the coffee. There was something refreshing about the coolness of it.
"Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that I'm high off your scent. Such a sweet thing it is." He almost half purred, half growled the last part in enough of a low voice that no one else but the girl in front of him would've been able to hear it.
The problem was that Celeste didn't quite know how she should respond to what he told her. It was a rather odd thing to say and caused her to feel a blush creeping up her neck.
Which turned out to be a bad thing as the look on the other's face indicated the fact that he seemed to be pleased that he could have such an effect on her with just his words.
"Can you please sit elsewhere so that I can take care of other customers. I think you're making some of them uncomfortable." Celeste quickly told the other as she pointed at the small line that had been forming behind him.
Bane looking behind himself to see what the other was talking about gave her enough time to breathe and regain her composure. She really didn't want to give the man in front of her the wrong idea.
The wolf part of Bane felt his annoyance grow to find that the little human had been right, there were people who were gathering but seemed uncertain about whether they would be safe to come and place their orders with the odd situation going on at the counter.
His human side however was happy about the matter. They knew the moment that they were far enough away from a Celeste that they'd be able to take back over and Leave the shop.
"Very well, but maybe you could humor me some time by going to dinner with me?" the other asked, something akin to hope in his voice as he made this request.
"Maybe." was all Celeste replied with before shooing the werewolf off so she could focus on the rest of her customers. Edgar would be coming back from his break soon and she didn't want to get into trouble for having too many guests waiting on her to take their orders.
With Bane no longer standing in front of her and creating a scene, she was able to put her full attention on to what she needed to do for her job and not care about the fact that the werewolf was still watching her as he sipped his coffee while feeling slightly annoyed.
He didn't want the troublesome human part of him to take back over yet, he knew that the other would do if he did. He wanted to wait a while longer so that he could keep enjoying the scent of his mate. Though, he wasn't certain that he would ever be able to get enough of it.
He couldn't deny that when he saw all the people that were standing in line and waiting to get their coffee that the alpha felt a strong urge to let out a growl in order to scare them off so he could continue enjoying being so close to his mate.
He knew though that it would be a bad decision to make because everyone would hear it and know right away that there was something not quite right with him and that could lead to a reveal of his true identity.
He didn't need that right now after all the hard work he had been putting into everything he had been doing.
Trying to be rational about the matter didn't help his bad mood however. It just made him think that everything would be so much easier if his human part would accept the girl as his mate and not argue against it was rationality. He didn't care about all that stuff.
With all the power he welded as the alpha of the Blackstar clan, he knew that he had more than enough energy and power to be able to protect the human even if she couldn't shift into one of his kind after he had marked.
He just needed to make his human side realize that he was right and the other was just overreacting.
He knew the argument with himself would have to take place at another time, his human side was ready to come back to the front. He wasn't thrilled about it but would let it happen for the time being as he knew there were other things that he needed to do which meant that he couldn't stay at the coffee shop all day until the other got off work.
Instead the wolf side of Bane knew that he would have to come up with something good to convince the other to change his mind and accept the little human.
He would've thought that her personality and looks would've been enough for the human part of him to realize they'd be a fool to let her go, but alas, he had been mistaken about this matter.
