Celeste frowned after Liam left. Was it really possible that he knew who Bane was? And if so how? She didn't imagine that there was a connection between her friend and the other as they didn't seem like the kind of people who would run in the same or similar circles. Unless the alpha owned the club that Liam worked at.. Could that had been possible.
She was so absorbed in thinking about this that she almost forgot she was waiting to see if she had gotten a message on Facebook when she picked up her phone again. The Lucifer account hadn't responded however which meant that her one form of distraction was now gone. She sighed when she saw this before tossing the phone down on the bed next to her.
She knew that it was rather late and she needed to sleep. The desire to sleep however had disappeared once Liam had scared her by peeking his head in through the door. It was as though tiredness had been sucked up back inside of her and refused to come back out even as she lay on the bed staring on the ceiling. What was she supposed to do now?
Celeste put her arm over her face as she thought about it. There was still nothing good on TV for her to enjoy as a distraction. The one person she had hoped to talk with again had to sleep for the night or was perhaps still on duty since he had come to the hotel. With it being past midnight, no one else was going to be awake.
She huffed at the thought of this as she turned onto her side. She was just going to have to force herself to sleep then. Even though she was frazzled and stressed out with everything going on, she still had to think about the work next and the fact that with her staying at the hotel she was in meant she would have to get up earlier the next morning in order to leave on time.
She was just going to have to try and rely on counting sheep or something else similar to help draw the tiredness out of her again. Celeste was determined not to stay up all night even though a part of her was still concerned over whether or not she was truly safe from anything just by simply staying somewhere away from her house.
She could only hope that it would be safe as she tucked herself under the blankets after shutting the light off and make sure that the door was properly locked again after Liam had left. She was also going to have to make sure that she was up early enough as to not put the other off since he was technically her one and ride that she had back to where she lived.
As much as she tried however, sleep managed to evade her for most of the night. Primarily due to the fact that there was too much on her mind. Each time she closed her eyes and tried to shut down, thoughts about what happened that night and Bane would go through her head.
Other things around this went through her mind as well. Was the alpha really connected somehow to everything that she had something to do with? It was common for people who did really well in life to have endeavors in many routes and areas of the business sector in order to maintain their success. From Celeste's perspective however, this felt like something more deep than a businessman who wanted to have his hand in a number of different pies in order to stay successful. She just didn't know yet what the string was that kept everything together.
Liam was happy to drive her back in the morning though he seemed in less of the high spirts that he had been in the night before. She wonder though if perhaps like her he didn't get enough sleep since it seemed his job could go fairly late into the night depending on the client.
He did hold a casual conversation with her after she mentioned the fact that she had requested to be his friend on Facebook. This took him by surprise.
"After all these months and now you're finally deciding to add me as your friend?"" He teased. It had been like that between them for a while now. Though the most recent months were Celeste's fault for not reaching out to him sooner. Before that, they had always been playing an odd game of tag when it came to trying to stay in touch with one another.
"I was trying to find something to distract myself last night since I couldn't fall asleep easily and remembered that we weren't friends yet. There wasn't any real reason for me to think about it before now." Celeste replied defending her reason for only add the other now rather than before.
"I see how it is. You only want me around when I can provide a decent distraction for you. Only one night together and you're already sounding like one my clients." Liam reached his right hand out and pinched his friend's cheek in a teasing manner when he said this.
"I didn't meant it like that." She protested as she shoved the other's hands away. She hated when people did that kind of thing to her. Her cheeks were soft, but it still always hurt whenever it happened.
"However then did you mean it?" The other asked. The traffic was light that morning which meant that he knew he would be able to get his friend back home sooner rather than later and not have to miss out on too much sleep.
"I just meant that I thought it would be a good time to add you since I remembered while I was already on my phone. And after what you did for me, I thought that it would be good to stay in touch for a while." She explained. It was the honest reason why she had ended up requesting to be his friend aside from the fact that she was nosy.
There was also one more reason aside from that as to why she had wanted to add him as her friend. She had some questions that she wanted to ask.
"Do you think that we could meet at some point in time to have dinner and catch up properly?" Celeste questioned glancing over at Liam who seemed rather surprised over the sudden request. They were almost back to her apartment now and she wanted to ask before they parted ways again.
"You'd actually want to go to dinner with me? I'm flattered?" he put his hand on his chest in the way that one would do when they were taken back in a pleasant way by something someone said.
"We can figure something out if you want. I don't get many nights off so I would have to go request it ahead of time so just let me know what you're thinking." He told her in a more serious tone of voice as he pulled onto the street where her apartment was located.
"Could you decide the place if I pick the date?" She then asked. She was fine with eating anywhere, she didn't know about the other however. He might have had different preferences.
"If that's what you request, I can fulfil it." He replied as he pulled up outside of her apartment complex.
