Combination attack

As the duel disk manifested itself onto his arm, Zhang Chun Wu quickly tore the top five cards off the newly formed deck. He took a quick moment to glance through them, not recognizing any of the strange letters.

"Use that purple dragon!" William, who had actually not taken control of Zhang Chun Wu's body, communicated through his mind.

Although he was not familiar with the text on the Prime Artifact, Zhang Chun Wu had indeed been present when William had explained the rules of his Prime Artifact to the head elders of the Zhang family. Naturally, he was not stupid enough to forget that the orange cards represented the summoning aspect of his artifact.

His eyes swept through the cards he had picked up, before he saw the card that William had been referring to.

As he took the summoning card to place onto the duel disk, Zhang Chun Wu's eyes darted around. He saw his spear being rebounded by the force of it's collision from the flame arrow. To the right, the two Gao kids charged towards him, killing intent present.

Zhang Chun dashed forwards, his eyes set on his spear.

One step.

Two steps.

As the monster card touched the duel disk, a light flashed in front of him. Then, a strange sensation swept through his body.

Peering through Zhang Chun Wu's eyes, an electric shock suddenly coursed through William. He was suddenly against the wind, dashing towards the spear that lay, meters in front of him.

Then, a giant wing unfurled before his face. Almost by instinct, Zhang Chun Wu felt his body drop, before he flew up, landing on the wing that had materialized under his feet. Driving his body forward, William felt his body soar high into the air.

As he drifted through the sky, Zhang Chun Wu saw several shocked faces pass by him. Then, he caught something in the corner of his eye.

[Koumori Dragon

As he noticed the words on the top right side of his vision, the letters suddenly blurred, before they became illegible.

Then, the strange energy left.

Zhang Chun Wu crashed down onto the ground with a giant thump. As he hit the ground, he could almost feel his arms crack under the pressure of the earth below him.

As he struggled to get up, he suddenly felt as if his mind had become muddled for a moment, before the illusion vanished.

"What was that?" A thought emerged, but it was quickly pressed into the back of his mind when he saw his spear in front of him. Reaching out, he grabbed onto it.

"Attack something, Koumori Dragon!" William spoke from Zhang Chun Wu's mouth. He had been snapped out of the strange trance as well when their body had crashed into the ground moments ago.

Upon seeing Zhang Chun Wu grab onto the spear he had thrown, William quickly realized he hadn't given an attack declaration to the monster yet.

Wu Ji stood in horror as he witnessed a flash of light erupted from in front of Zhang Chun Wu.

As the light momentarily blinded Wu Ji, he lost track of the third grandson of the Zhang Clan's Patriarch. Wu Ji, however, was not interested in finding Zhang Chun Wu at the moment. He stared as two dark wings emerged from within the fading light, before a vicious looking head emerged from the front. The creature was easily as tall as a grown human even in it's resting position. It stood on two legs, like a perched eagle, and it's tail swayed back and forth.

"Wyvern?!" Wu Ji's eyes widened as he realized what Zhang Chun Wu had summoned. He quickly took two steps back, still keeping an eye on the creature.

A little bit in the distance, seven people who were fighting fiercely suddenly stopped their movements as they saw the blackish purple wyvern come into existence.

"A Malodor Cave Wyvern? Impossible!" Gao Fei Ying, the representing elder from the Gao family cried out in fear. Hoping that it was on their side, he turned towards the two Zhou and Wu clan elites for reassurance. Four ugly faces answered his unspoken question.

Seeing that the Wyvern was not on their side, he grabbed a talisman from his pocket, preparing to make a break for it.

"Stop! Calm down!" A voice cried out, halting him. Turning around, he realized it was Zhou Ya, one of the orchestrators of the ambush on the Li family.

"What do you want? Don't tell me you actually think we can deal with that Wyvern while also fighting the Li elders!" Gao Fei Ying angrily responded. It was already incredibly difficult for the Zhao/Wu/Gao alliance, which consisted of only three early stage Perceiving Mind cultivator to hold off the one mid and one late stage Perceiving Mind elder from the Li family.

There wouldn't even need to be any more fighting if another 7th rank Perceiving Mind Cave Wyvern was added into the brawl.

"Look clearly! That thing isn't a Malodour Cave Wyvern!" Zhou Ya reassured Gao Fei Ying. "There's no trace of the strong smell that comes from a Malodour Cave Wyvern, and you can see the eyes still on it's body!"

Seeing the contradiction, Gao Fei Ying stared at the wyvern in surprise, before he suddenly realized that the creature was only giving off the strength of a Foundation Building Stage Cultivator!

Away from the group of five, the two Li elders had also stopped to look at Zhang Chun Wu's summon.

"That's a Malodour Cave Wyvern?" Li Shun Feng glanced over to the other elder hesitantly. Since they were both from the Li family, he naturally had realized that the Wyvern had not been summoned by their side. Although they were having trouble breaking through their enemies, he knew that they had the obvious upper hand.

However, li Shun Feng didn't think either of them would be able to defend against the remaining three Perceiving Mind Elders and two Core Formation Juniors if the other had to go fight against a fully grown Malodour Cave Wyvern, which was rumoured to have strength surpassing that of a sixth stage Perceiving Mind cultivator.

Li Shun Feng worriedly looked towards the other elder for a solution, but the other elder seemed to be strangely calm.

"Don't worry, that thing's on our side." Li Hou Jun abruptly cracked a strange smile. Seeing the confused look on his fellow elder's face, he added, "Although I don't think it's your normal cave wyvern." Of course, none of the fighters knew more about Zhang Chun Wu's strange summons than he did, given that he had not only been present during the Zhang and Li clan alliance discussions, but had also already seen him summon a similar monster.

The green Mountain Ogre, which usually had a core formation cultivation level, could only fight at the Foundation Building Stage during Zhang Chun Wu's duel with Li Fei Yuan, so Li Hou Jun did not think it was strange that the Cave Wyvern with eyes was also limited to a similar cultivation level.

"Attack something, Koumori Dragon!" Zhang Chun Wu's voice snapped everyone out of their stupor. The wyvern, who had remained eerily silent after it's summoning, suddenly unfolded it's wings, letting out a fierce shriek.

As soon as William gave the command, the monster who had been summoned moments ago opened it's maw, letting out a jet of black fire at Wu Ji, the individual who was closest to it that the system had designated as a hostile entity.

Seeing the black fire near him, Wu Ji panicked. Unlike the more experienced elders of his family, he hadn't yet recognized that the wyvern that Zhang Chun Wu had summoned was not actually the feared Malodour Cave Wyverns that plagued the northern mountains.

Paralyzed by terror, he failed to erect a proper defence before the flames blasted into him.

"Boss Wu!" One of Wu Ji's aides cried out, moving to put out the flames, when suddenly he a hammer-like force slammed into the back of his head.

"Oh no you don't!" Li Tai Shan yelled, knocking the unsuspecting aide out.

As the crumpled body hit the ground, the remaining two members of the Zhao family realized that their original target was still alive and kicking. The two sprang towards Li Tai Shan, preparing to complete their mission.

BANG!

One of the two assailants were halted mid charge by a large wall of ice that sprung from the ground without warning. Unprepared, he slammed head-first into the wall of ice. Appearing from behind the ice wall, Luo Sha quickly gave the guy one more strike on the back of his head, knocking him out cold.

She then turned towards Zhang Chun Wu's direction, just in time to see him finish dispatching the remaining two Gao Clan members.

When the Koumori Dragon had opened fire on Wu Ji, the archer, who was a Wu clan member's attention shifted towards the black flame. Just like the other Wu clan member, he had attempted to save Wu Ji; quickly aiming his Prime Artifact at the black wyvern.

Unfortunately, in his panic he had forgotten that Zhang Chun Wu was less than twenty meters away from him, so he had a single moment to be surprised when Zhang Chun Wu's face suddenly showed up right in front of him before he was knocked out in a single strike from the tail end of his spear.

After dispatching the archer, Zhang Chun Wu turned around only to see one of the Gao clan members a few meters away from him, sword prepared to run him through.

Without thinking, he threw out two of the four remaining cards in his hand out at the attacker like a throwing star.

Seeing two sharp-looking objects suddenly appear in front of him, the Gao clan member with the sword instinctively slowed down to dodge the unknown cards. The first one shot past him, missing his face by mere inches, but the second one struck him square in the chest.

Startled, he recoiled from the impact of the attack, before realizing that the attack didn't actually cause any pain. He looked down at the card that had struck him, only to realize that it had shattered into sparkles.

Realizing he had been tricked, the adolescent looked back up, only to see the flat end of a spear right in front of his face.

"Oh shi-"

SMACK!

Zhang Chun Wu, who had swung his spear with one hand like a baseball bat, turned to look at the final opponent.

A female, whose clothes were splattered with patches of dull red, stared back at Zhang Chun Wu with dread. Only now did he realize that the person he had stabbed right at the beginning of the fight was a female to begin with.

Looking at Zhang Chun Wu's fierce expression, she took three steps back, before a voice caused her to stop.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?! Stop him for me!" Gao Xue's panicked voice cried out.

Looking towards his original target, Zhang Chun Wu saw that Gao Xue was still sitting where William had kicked him towards before the fight. There was nothing different about him, other than a wet stain where his pants were.

"Damn you! Don't you dare run away without this young master! Get back here and save me!" Gao Xue continued to whine.

Upon hearing his threat, the female stopped retreating. Then she gritted his teeth and began to move towards Zhang Chun Wu, who frowned. Although he had stabbed her earlier, Zhang Chun Wu wasn't a big fan of hurting women when he could help it, so he had originally intended to just let the girl be.

As he considered how to halt her steps, he felt his arm drift away from his control. A moment later, William, still trying to hold the spear, drew a card off the top of his deck.

Fumbling around, he tried to see what cards were left from the ones Zhang Chun Wu had tossed at the other Gao clansmen, before he saw an appropriate card.

"I special summon Gilasaurus!" He spoke.

Another flash of light appeared, and from within, a raptor-like creature emerged from within. It was quite small, only slightly larger than the size of a Velociraptor. It was brown with patterned designs over it's back, and it didn't have any enlarged front claw like those of a normal velociraptor.

Interestingly, Gilasaurus had a different effect than what William remembered.

[Gilasaurus

Raising his eyebrow, William looked at the female Gao clan's-member.

"Keep her busy, Gilasaurus." He spoke, as he began to walk towards the injured Gao Xue.
