Clearing The Mobs; Tsia City

Hey, Shun here!

I've always thought that cities in a fantasy world would always have a giant wall surrounding them.

Don't ask me where I got that idea from.

Anyway, if the city I will visit doesn't have one, I'll… I don't know what I'll do if they don't have one.

Maybe I'll take it over and make them build one?

(Shun's POV)

It's the fourteenth day of my stay in this fantasy world and I'd say I adopted really fast in this new environment. Well, I guess me being in the fantasy world I always yearned for played a big role in this though.

Or is it something else?

Anyway, after three days of doing everything we can to build the ideal dungeon that I designed, I finally decided to go to the nearby City.

Rokuko wanted to come but I had to refuse because there are many monsters roaming outside right now and I don't know what might happen inside the city.

"Why can't I come, Shun!? Aren't we partners!?"

"If you're strong enough to defeat the Enhanced Goblins we have inside our dungeon, I'll let you come with me."

"Uh… But I still can't do that…"

"Then, for now, you can't come with me. I don't want anything bad to happen to you, after all."

Aside from the reason that if she die, I die as well, I genuinely don't want her to get hurt or anything if things go south. Some fantasy worlds are just that dangerous, after all.

Also, after doing some scouting, I found out that there are some strong monsters like Orcs and some mobs like Goblins inside this forest. Not to mention the pack of wolves that appears during the crack of dawn.

Hearing my reasoning, it looks like Rokuko was finally convinced.

"A-Alright. S-Since you are just w-worried about my safety, I'll let it slide f-for now. H-Hmm, you better make sure to bring me with you next time, though."

"Of course. Also, I'll leave Tsuka here with you just in case something bad happens. Make sure to protect Rokuko, okay Tsuka?"

"Squeak! Leave, it, to Tsuka!"

"Good girl. I'll leave it to you then."

Rokuko began pouting when she saw that I patted Tsuka so I patted her small head as well.

"Then, I'll leave now. I'll take twenty silvers with me for now…"

"Umm… Take care."

"Thanks Rokuko."

After saying my goodbyes to the two, I purchased 10 silver coins, 10 big copper coins, and 20 copper coins from the DP Catalog's Treasure section. One silver coins is worth 1,000 DP but if you want to convert it to DP, you'll only get 100 DP.

Copper coins costs 5 DP per 5. Really cheap. If I buy ten at once, I'll get 1 big copper coin.

By the way, a gold coin costs 10,000 DP. Its cost is so high and I don't really need so much money to visit a city as of yet.

After buying a wallet that costs 10 DP, a small leather sling bag worth 35 DP, and some fruits and a liter of mineral water that costs 40 DP, I finally headed out of the dungeon.

It's somehow irritating to be illuminated on the face by the sun's rays. Well, I guess I'll make do with it since it's not scorching hot in here unlike the Earth where I live in.

"Is Global Warming even a thing here?"

I murmured as I exited through the dungeon's entrance before transforming into my [NWO] avatar.

"I should go and clean the mobs while I'm on my way to the city…"

And so, my journey towards the first city I'll be visiting in a fantasy world began.

✽✽✽✽✽✽✽✽✽✽

Using my avatar from the VRMMO game [New World Online], I weaved through the mountainous road easily. It's not something I couldn't handle even with my real body but it's much faster and safer if I do this.

What? It's cowardice? You just have a death wish, that's why you think this is cowardice. Real life doesn't work like that, kiddo.

Unlike any video game where you revive after dying and commuting a grave in-game decision or taking a wrong turn, real life is unforgiving and merciless. One bad move and you'll die without getting the chance to undo, redo, revive, reincarnate, or load to a past save point.

As the saying goes, "We only live once…"

"Oh, there's three orcs over there…" I mumbled as I disappeared from my location using the [Ninjutsu] skill's [Body Flicker].

"BuUmoOoo!?"

It seems like the Orc I approached have some pretty sharp senses as it noticed me immediately as soon as I appeared beside it. Not like it mattered much, though.

"I'll use you guys to test if I'll be alright fighting monsters stronger than you…"

*Clang!*

The sound of me unsheathing my left blade reverberated through the forest, attracting the attention of the remaining two Orcs.

However, before they could retaliate, I already thrust my arms forward, a katana with a pure white blade in hand. This is my Soul Consuming Ancient Blade, Akujiki.

*Stab!*

There was a feeling of stabbing through flesh. However, I did not think about it too much since this is what I mostly felt whenever I'm playing the Virtual Reality Games.

Right after I slashed the Orcs' torso using Akujiki, I threw myself to the side, dodging a large wooden club from hitting my head.

Combo start!

"Let's see if my practice on maximizing the use of [Vorpal Dance] paid off…"

I sheathed Akujiki, unsheathed Muramasa, raised it, and slashed with a spin. After three strikes, I blinked while sheathing my sword, Muramasa.

When I arrived at the Orcs' side, I dealt another 2 strikes. I then leaned to the left, dodging a backhand club swing coming from the third Orc.

5 combo trigger!

One sword struck out 3 times! I stepped off the ground and performed another blink while sheathing Muramasa, appearing at the Orcs' side once again with another two rapid strikes.

Continuous sounds of flesh being stabbed rang throughout the forest repeatedly.

The 5 and 10 combo effects both triggered at the same time!

I sheathed Akujiki, then, with my hands in the handle of Muramasa, both me and my sword became a piercing light, it felt like I teleported in a flash, appearing on the second Orcs' side.

Why the second Orc? Because the first one just died.

Dodging the sideways sweep of this Orc in front of me with a jump, my triple strike appeared once again! Then, with another blink, I appeared behind its back.

My sword's speed rose alongside the continuous rise of my combo count. The Orc was so confused since all it could probably see are the weaving afterimages of a white and black colored blade.

I flashed and appeared all over the place, using a flurry of blinks. As the speed increased, I felt like I became more like a storm of swords.

It felt like I'm bullying the Orc as sword strike after sword strikes rained down upon it incessantly, continuously triggering [Blink], [Triple Strike], and [Piercing Displacement]. The two Orcs were extremely confused by this as they were unable to lay a finger on me.

Once the second Orc died, I blinked in front of the third and last Orc and slashed through its neck. [Flash of Life]… and that's it.

"Phew. Looks like I would still be fine if I were to face a hundred of these monsters."

Looking at the sliced up bodies of these creatures, aside from the third one, I decided to just use [Flash of Life] if there are any material from them that I could monetize.

Why did I have to go outside? For safety, of course. Also, I want to gather information.

What? I just want to travel because this is a fantasy world? Nah, it must be just your imagination.

Anyway, as I was saying, it was impossible for me to tell whether I was safe or not without any information. I had so little information. Hence, I needed to go to a human settlement.

Aaaah. The clean air is really refreshing. I should go out more with Rokuko and Tsuka once everything stabilize.

I pretty much had a good time while I travel at an extreme speed. Well, I say extreme but I slowed down my speed by quite a lot because I wanted to enjoy the scenery for a little bit longer.

While enjoying the image of the surrounding landscape, I took out an apple from my leather bag and took a bite.

*crunch*

"Mmh… Ingredients from the DP Catalog sure are very fresh and tasty. This apple tastes so good."

I really think that the DP Catalog is very much convenient. With enough DP, you could pretty much buy anything, I think?

Except for things that require electricity of course.

It took me a quarter of a day to reach the city. I pretty much didn't encounter anything particularly dangerous on the way there. So far, there wasn't any monster that could threaten me.

And so, I'm here. The Tsia City at last.

"This is the city in a fantasy world, huh. It's really… uhh… fantasy-esque?"

The city was surrounded by a brick wall about five meters tall, and the entrance gate was protected by a tough-looking guard. By looks of it, he seems to be quite trained.

Wait a sec… woah. This city is actually pretty big…

How many people are living here? Out of curiosity, I glanced at my map and saw that there were gates on the north, east, south, and west sides of the wall. I'm currently on the west side of the city.

"Halt! What business do you have in Tsia City?"

The cautious-looking gatekeeper ordered me to halt once I got close enough to the gate. Not wanting to cause any unnecessary problems, I complied and stopped.
