Chapter 8: BABYSITTING{1}

"Finally, the day is finally over," I said to myself happily. Well, not the day but work, I was able to leave early.

I had the entire house to myself, Natasha was still at work, and Lucy..... I had no idea.

Although I heard Natasha saying something about a babysitter while talking to Lucy, so I guess she hired one since she'll be working late.

It's been weeks since I've been able to have the tv all to myself, Lucy has been hogging it to watch cartoons and Natasha..... Let's just say she's crazy about telenovelas.

It's great feeling like a man, with no Ladies around, no cartoon theme songs, and no tears from some chick flick.

I sat on the couch and propped open a soda with a bowl of chips, ready to get the ' party started when I heard the doorbell ring.

Groaning, I stood up and went to find out who it was. Who had the audacity to interrupt my " Me" time?

Opening the door gently and rather impatiently, I faced a lady with layer shoulder-length white hair, wearing loose black jeans, a floral pattern t-shirt with a scoop neck, cute purple sandals, completed with a bright smile.

I looked down and then I saw Lucy, that my friends are how I went from having a perfect bro day with myself to babysitting. Dang, I don't even know what to do.

Remember when I said I don't like kids? Well... I never babysat anyone's child no matter how much is involved, I could tolerate Lucy, perhaps because I lived with her or something but I'm not really a fan of babysitting her, I've only cooked one meal for her, my very delicious pancakes.

Lucy looked up at me and stared at me as her eyes twinkled, I still don't know how she does it but those eyes are really mysterious, they twinkled as though there are stars in it, when you stare at her for too long you will end up feeling as though her eyes were calling you.

She still stared at me, and then I remembered I didn't let them in, my body was still hovering over the door and I haven't even said anything.

" Good afternoon, kindly come in" I stuttered gesturing into the house.

" Thank you" she replied as she walked in holding Lucy, and I could have sworn she smirked, urgh.

She took her seat before speaking " I'm so sorry to interrupt your day, you look like you were busy" throwing glances at the bottle of soda and bowl of chips. That was when Lucy lost it, she laughed as though her life depended on it, she was obviously finding this funny.

" Lucy!" the lady cautioned

I shot her a glare before she finally stopped laughing.

" I'm Katrina and I'm Lucy's babysitter, her mom hired me to babysit her today but I have a family emergency. I came to tell her mom I can't continue and there's no one to leave her with, so I decided to bring her back," she explained

" Okay, but her mum isn't here, have you tried calling her? " I asked

" Well yes, I have but she isn't picking her calls, I wish I could continue babysitting but it's an emergency and I have to leave quickly," she said, obviously she couldn't continue. I didn't want to babysit either but Natasha wasn't picking up, I didn't even have her number.

" What are you planning to do now?" I asked, she couldn't possibly be planning on leaving her with me. How was she even sure that it was safe. Of course, I wouldn't hurt her but she didn't know that.

" Can I possibly leave her with you?" she finally inquired. I didn't respond, I just stared at her, left aghast, talk about unprofessionalism.

After seeing my expression, she was quick to add" No, no it's not like that. I just have somewhere to be and you seem pretty trustworthy"

I simply scoffed after hearing her words "pfft, trustworthy, really? You don't know me and you are planning to leave a child you are supposed to babysit in my care. How's that different from giving her to a stranger on the road? " I queried

" No no, that's totally different. Lucy told me her uncle would be home" she covered up, I wasn't buying any of it probably because I'm not Lucy's uncle, but I didn't push further because Lucy nodded her head in confirmation.

" Please, can you give me her mom's number? " I asked her sitter, Natasha has to get here right now, I won't be left babysitting her daughter all alone.

" Excuse me for a sec," I said before walking into my room and shutting the door behind me. I quickly dialed the number.

" Urgh, pick up, pick up Natasha," I said angrily, few secs and.... I was left on voicemail. I called back but still no response. So, I decided to go with my second choice, Sam.

I dialed his and waited for him to answer which he did after the second ring " What is it man? " he asked irritably

" Is Natasha still at work? " All he needed to do was to check and encourage her to return home right now.

" Why do you ask? Missing her already? " he mocked. I can rely on Sam to never be serious about serious things

" No, you jerk. I don't miss her, something came up" I said throwing a glance at the door.

" Well.... Anyways, she left an hour ago, she was in a hurry too. I guess she had somewhere Important to be. We had to postpone the shoot. " he told me.

" Left? " I asked in confusion

" I'm pretty sure you heard me. Now, if that's all, allow me to hang up so I'll focus on work. I can't believe you called me just to asked about your beloved roommate" he told me with humor in his voice. I could just punch him through the phone, but then I'll end up killing my agent. I hung up and paced around, she isn't at home, she isn't at work, and she isn't picking her calls either. Where the hell is Natasha?
