He looked away from her and faced the road ahead. He only just met her and she was asking a lot of questions from him. It made his skin itch and his heart raced. He didn't like it. He preferred his body to not react as such.
"You are… very quiet," the Moon Goddess spoke softly.
Moon had never met someone who was almost silent with her. Had she been expecting people to just speak to her so easily? The others she had met, whether they were happy or not, spoke to her with little hesitation. However, Torrence… She wondered if something had happened to cause the man to speak very little or if at all. Perhaps it was his personality, and she should just leave it alone?
Deciding it was better to respect the golden eyed man, she kept to herself as they traveled around the other side of the mountain and across the mountain bend. The sun was not as warm today and her mind worried something was wrong with her brother.
'No. If there was, he would tell me. No need to fret,' she told herself, but it still made her worry regardless.
The light breeze felt nice against her skin and she found herself smiling.
Once Torrence opens up to her, she would finally marked her first alpha. Wait… maybe she should just tell him of who she was! Moon already knew of his love for her and his loyalty. If she told him right now, then she wouldn't need to worry so much!
She had already revealed herself to Cayden James, the doctor, and Rei Solis, the heir to Dragonport. They haven't used it against her, so Torrence wouldn't either. She believed it.
"Sir Torrence," she cleared her throat and turned to him, "I am the Moon Goddess and I choose you as my Alpha."
"…"
"…"
"Uh, Sir Torrence?"
Nothing. No expression changed, no acknowledgement of who she was, nothing. She frowned deeply and tapped the man's bare chest, but Torrence still was not looking at her.
'Why are you ignoring me!' She pouted and turned away with a huff, 'Seriously! I am trying here! Ugh… Maybe I am thinking too highly of him. He might have a family anyways.'
The galloping of Lula, the beautiful brown horse they were riding, slowed down at the small lake. Torrence got off and offered her a hand. Helping the female down, the dark haired man went to the lake to join his horse.
'A bond between animal and man,' Moon sighed out a smile, 'May last a lifetime.'
Torrence washed his face at the lake and filled up a bottle of water. His thoughts were on the strange female with him. Clete Jackson seemed trusting of her, so he shouldn't worry if anything would come to pass, but she…
'The Moon Goddess? How could she be so shameless?'
His Goddess would not have come down from her home to meet him, a lowly slave. He had nothing to give, nothing to see, and nothing but his love for her. Did she wish to see his scars? Did she wish to know where they came from? That was all he could offer her. He was not handsome, he had no high title, and he had no attachment to anyone but his horse.
How pathetic was he?
So, no. The Moon Goddess would not wish to be within the same space as a lowly slave as him.
Patting his horse's back, he turned to see the black haired female staring at the sun with a smile. Doused in the rays of the sun, lightly hidden by the clouds, she looked as if she was glowing. Her purple eyes turned to him and he tried to swallow, but he ended up coughing. Light pats against his back from a warm hand, reminded him that he was not traveling alone with a figment of his imagination.
Moon was real.
"Thank you," he bowed in thanks and her soft delicate fingers touched his face.
"I envy the bond you have with your mare, Sir Torrence. When you feel up to it, I would like to hear your story."
His heart was beating loudly that he could hear it against his eardrums. Pulling away, he offered a hand to her with burning cheeks. She thanked him and he helped her up on Lula. He joined and off they continued to Northham, all the while he was trying to not focus on the way she leaned against him.
When the moon and the stars littered the sky above them, Torrence headed to a flat space up on the hill.
"I will go collect woods, Miss Moon."
"Ah, I will come too."
"Stay," he bowed, "Please."
Moon reluctantly agreed and he returned down the hill with Lula to search for the woods. He focused on his task like he always had, finishing it quickly. When he returned, he saw another man with the raven haired female. The man was shirtless like he was with piercing golden eyes, but with white hair and milky white skin.
The female saw him approaching and waved at him. He nodded his acknowledgement and bowed in greeting when got off Lula.
"Hello sir."
"Hello."
"…"
"…"
The Moon Goddess watched as Torrence nodded again and went a few feet away to start a fire. She turned to the man beside her and quirked her brow. Her dear brother had came to check on her and eased her worries for him. She was happy. She had never seen the Sun God sick, so she wasn't sure what she should and could do if it were to happen.
She was glad her brother was alright.
"Why are you distant, brother?" She whispered.
"Hm?" Golden eyes blinked at her, "Was I?"
"You can burn many with barely a word," she leaned against him with her chin propped on his strong shoulder, "Are you certain you are fine? I have a bad feeling you are lying."
"I have never lied to you, dear sister. Ease your mind," her brother patted her head with a smile, "This man... You wish to mark him?"
"Yes," She grinned, "Is he not perfect? Although, he is still very quiet about his life, I can feel his devotion to me."
"Mm, yes. He is devoted, but sister…" the white haired man turned to her and there was a slight hesitation, "He is not pure."
