It lead him to the old master who taught him to survive. It led to his bond with Lula, his horse. It led to his friendship with Clete Jackson of Rosemount. So, he continued to pray, even now as he sat before the fire. He closed his eyes, hung his head, and cupped his hands.
'I pray to you, my Goddess of the Moon. May you watch over me, Lula, and Miss Moon. She is in tears over my past. May you bring her safety and comfort in her travel to Northham and onward. Thank you, My Goddess.'
He finished his prayer and looked over to see Moon was sleeping. He stayed sitting and closed his eyes. He would sleep this way since they were out in the open. If anything were to happen, he needed to be ready to fight.
The Moon Goddess opened his eyes and watched the quiet man sleep. Even in sleep, Torrence was still so silent. She smiled knowing he prayed for her safety. Her smiled slowed into a straight line, relaxed against her face as she looked at the flickering of the fire.
'I know I promised you, dear brother, but it might be a lie,' she closed her purple eyes, 'I might not even reach that day.'
When the sun rose, they rode quietly down the blades of grass. The sound of chatters were up ahead and the Moon Goddess smiled. This was her last stop to find her alpha and she felt… nothing. She was not excited, fearful, worried, or determined.
Maybe because she had accepted her losses.
Her brother would be okay. The people are living without her. Those who are in pain and in fear, she was sorry she couldn't help them. Maybe in another few centuries, she would awaken to a new world where she could assist her people better.
"You are quiet," Torrence stated as Lula slowed her trotting to a stop.
"Mm, just thinking," she smiled at him, "Thank you, Sir Torrence for accompanying me and helping me. May you have a happy life."
He nodded and stepped down to help the female off Lula. As that was happening, a shout caused the hair at the back of his neck to stand. He knew from the voice who it was. Shutting out the memories, he looked over to the female who was walking to him.
He remembered her clearly.
The woman made him do everything for her, even bathing her. That wasn't the worse of it. There was no end to his pain with this woman. How he escaped her obsessive clutch, he must thank his Goddess. If he didn't leave, he was sure he'd be dead without a care.
"Dirt~ Wow, look how you've grown," the old woman dragged her eyes up and down his body, "Mm, seducing women everywhere you go, are you? I am sure you've used all the experiences I taught you," she cackled.
"Oh! Those scars! You must have gotten a beating haven't you? You should! You ran away when I paid so much for you!" The female's grin reminded him of all those times he was with her. It made his skin crawl.
"Excuse me," Moon interrupted, "His name is Sir Torrence. If you are the reason for his scars, you should be ashamed of yourself. To put him through so much pain, you are a horrible person."
"How dare you!" The lady shouted and a man not far away walked forward.
"Milady, what is the matter?" The man questioned.
"Hit her," she demanded the man, "Do it! I command you!"
The pale skinned man looked at the raven haired female and then at the golden eyed man. He recognized him. He was the talk of Baystall for a long time, almost like a myth.
He took a step forward and the scarred man stepped in between him and the young female.
"How dare you! Don't tell me she is your master now, Dirt! You dare lay with a young girl?! She knows nothing! She would not please you!" The old lady was shouting and Torrence wanted to hurt her. He wanted to make her endure all that she had put him through.
"Sir Torrence," Moon touched his arm and he looked over, "I will be fine. You should go back. Have a safe ride."
"Miss Moon," he frowned but she shook her head and smiled.
"Go now before she causes more of a scene," she whispered, "This place is not good for you. I know. Please, be safe."
He didn't want to leave her alone in Northham with this woman, but she had turned and was walking away. The lady was still shouting and the man that was now her slave, held her back. Gritting his teeth, he climbed on his horse and waited until he could no longer see Moon before heading out.
The Moon Goddess could still hear her ears ringing from the shouting of the woman. She was still angry that that lady found pleasure in the pain Torrence felt! People like her does not belong in the world of Nevrisea.
'That is it!' She found her heart on fire and her eyes blazing, 'I will mark my alpha until I die! I will not let someone like that woman ever take advantage of another again!'
Reaching to the inner part of the city, Moon looked at every single person closely. She followed close to anyone she saw, but immediately moved to another once she found out they were with another person, had children, family, buying things for someone, and talking about love. If people passed that requirement, she spoke with them with the first opening sentence.
"Do you believe in the Moon Goddess?"
Any who gave her a look or a word that meant 'no', she would move on to another person. Whispers of the girl in white was starting to spread through the city. Their whispers continued into gossip and rumors. Some were saying the crazy female just wanted to convert them to believe in the Moon Goddess. Other rumors said she was a seductress, seducing any with her soft voice and soft hands.
This brought people agreeing that yes, they believe in the Moon Goddess. Moon was so happy, she began asking other related questions and some she realized were lying. Those she thought could have been her chosen alphas had other things on their minds.
Like now.
"Come on," the man grinned gripping her wrist, "I believe in her and you will give me your body, right? Hm, I might end up worshipping your body if it is as good as they say."
