Are You His Son?

Moon's eyes widened. The statement was so deep that she felt her cheeks flushing. Eddrick was looking longingly at the image of her and it made her feel creeped out, but it made her feel so loved at the same time. The leader of Northham, shameless and forward as he was, saved himself for her.

"What… Do you expect from her and the person who is deeply devoted to her… is you?"

"Heh, is the pictures not obvious?" Eddrick grinned, "What I expect is for my Goddess to finally answer my prayer and make me her alpha, her chosen mate. When that happens, I would do whatever she wish of me."

Moon could not believe it. She could definitely mark Eddrick! But… the man was… shameless and a playboy. He also did not have the qualities she felt should be one of her alphas.

"Why do you want to become her alpha?" She wondered and he reached for the drawer at the end table. Eddrick pulled out a small book bound by a yarn, one that looked familiar to her. She reached for it and he handed it to her.

'This...'

Her legs were shaking so she sat beside the shameless leader and ran her fingers over the silken yarn. She had only ever given her yarn to one person, her alpha. Her digits followed the line of letters, reading each on in her mind. She went through each page slowly. This book was a journal and each entry had an image of her.

There was sometimes a daily log of what the owner of the book did. The problems he had faced, he had stopped, and how many times he ended up turning was collected on the pages. The struggle he faced amongst the villagers and how alone he felt without her. Then her first alpha was questioning why he was chosen, how it happened, and what they did to seal it.

The first alpha explained his love for her, his devotion, and his heart. The Moon Goddess felt her heart breaking into pieces as she read her first chosen's words. From every curve to every flurry of words, she knew it was his handwriting. She neglected him. There was no way around that. She thought he would be fine, but from what she was reading, he was lonely.

She did that to him.

The last page had blood smeared on it and she had to shut her eyes for a moment to breathe. Her hands were shaking, causing the journal to tremble from her movement. Fingers tucked her raven hair behind her ear and she turned to the man beside her. Purple hair and red eyes… her first chosen was…

"Are you alright? You are shaking," Eddrick questioned seeing how distraught the female was. Her purple eyes were watery and he couldn't help staring at how pretty she was, even with tears in her eyes.

"Please," Moon whispered, "Read the last page aloud."

"Oookay," he nodded and slowly pulled the book out of her shaky grip, "I write this so my son may know my devotion and fidelity to my Goddess. May he learn and be well. May my Moon Goddess bless him as hers too. Goodbye, my child. May you learn all I can give you."

He finished and closed the book gently. Placing it back into his drawer, he looked over to see the female with her hands covering her eyes and crying. Why was she crying? He didn't do anything to harm her! Yes she is pretty, but she was also super weird and no matter how much Eddrick wanted to have sex with her, the raven haired female was a bit crazy in his eyes.

He likes crazy chicks, but this lady was beyond it.

'Pssh, I didn't bring her to cry on my bed,' he frowned and grabbed her to fall on the bed with him hovering her.

He bent down and kissed her forehead, temple, her covered cheek, and neck. His hands were sliding up and down her body, touching her very inappropriately, but she did nothing. She should be attacking him again or at least screaming at him to get off, but she barely spoke.

"Look, what is wrong with you?" He sighed and pulled away to stare at tear filled purple eyes.

"Are you… his son?" She whispered through the hiccups and he groaned with dipped brows.

"Look at me," he made sure she was looking at him, "That book was centuries old! How can I be his son?! You should already know the reason Northham belongs to my family for so long, right?"

She shook her head and his red eyes widened.

"What?! You're joking."

She shook her head again.

"The guy who wrote the book is my ancestor so my great great great great whatever was his son. So the book was passed down to each heir, but my great grandfather never believed in it. He locked it up in a chest. By the time my father became the leader, I went snooping around as a kid. I heard my great grand father had great treasures he hid away. That was when I found the book.

I told my dad and he basically said it was a fictional story. The Moon Goddess didn't exist."

Moon blinked slowly as she sighed.

"Then why do you choose to believe her in a world that forgotten her?" She questioned softly and there was a soft laugh against her face. It sounded genuine, real, not the fake grins and laughs she heard from him prior.

"Everyone thinks I'm crazy, obsessed, a waste of an heir, a disappointment to my lineage," he searched her face, "You think so too, don't you?"

Eddrick pulled away and lied beside her to stare at his ceiling, "That's why Northham has appointed councils to head the city in the right direction when my parents died. I'm sure they are waiting for me to finally give them a child to take over the city once I'm dead. Probably when I'm 50 or something."

"You didn't answer my question, Sir Eddrick," the female beside him turned to face him.

She just felt so sad.
