Chapter 25

(25)

I woke up, disoriented not because I had just forgotten what happened, the anxiety crawled up and shivered my nerves as my fingers flexed to feel the soft mattress under me. Yes, my limb is still intact.

My head was spinning around.

What exactly happened? Mom. Dad. Damien. Flowers.

And intruders! Lizzy? I did remember she gave me a shot in the neck. The thought of that had my throat dry.

Wait... for what? Was I being kidnapped again?

What the hell was going on?

I gulped and stared at the door as I heard footsteps and hushed whispers. The blonde guy, Sam, and Lizzy walked inside with welcoming smiles...way too much.

They were walking gently as if their steps could break me. Maybe they can..., I didn't like them staring at me.

I clutched the sheets and observed their every movement. Sam sat on the couch in the corner. Lizzy was still standing with her folded hands.

"Hey, umm. Are you hungry? What do you want to eat, sweety?" She asked making me realize that my stomach was empty.

I stared back at her confused. What the hell was going on and all this behaviour?

"Why am I here? " I mumbled.

I heard Sam sigh. "We saved you from Damien, not exactly like that but we can hide you from him, " he sighed, "for a certain period," Sam said with his gaze elsewhere.

Hide me? From him? But, my family? Oh my god. My family!!! Damien was going to kill them. No.

I started to panic at the thought of Damien hurting them because of me. Damien was truly a lunatic. He wouldn't hesitate to hurt them. Now, this would only add up to his many reasons to finally orphan me...

The unbearable pain ripped through my lungs and I couldn't breathe. I sewed my eyes shut tight as the ache in my chest grew unbearably. The nerves and muscles became almost like icy thorns that spike me from the inside.

"Hey, sweety. Are you okay? Breathe. Just breathe. Sam, do something," I heard Lizzy's panicked voice.

"M- My parents," I squeaked out while fisting my hands and crying. There were just stars and dots in my vision. I just couldn't breathe.

"What's happening?" a harsh voice rasped.

As almost I would blackout, I felt an arm and soft lips on me. Later then, that person started filling my lungs with air making me snatch back into the lights.

I felt something wrapped around my eyes. That person was holding the back of my neck and straightening my throat. I couldn't move. I didn't know what that person was doing but I instantly was breathing again.

I was freaking out at my thoughts. Damien was a man of his words. I couldn't imagine how would he be furious right now. He would take his rage out on my family...he said he would...

Why did they bring me here? What did they want from me? What was the reason? What if my parent's life was in danger because of them? I sobbed hard with my intruding thoughts and excruciating feeling of helplessness.

"Breathe. Slowly," a soothing voice said.

That voice was striking me like a lightning strike. Strong, intimidating but so gentle. I did as the voice told me.

" What's your name?" The voice cooed.

"Vivan," I unconsciously answered.

"Okay, Vivan. I promise I won't hurt you. Do you believe me?" The voice said again and I felt the cloth over my eyes be removed.

I met with light green eyes that were staring down at me. His nose was almost as sharp as a point. Couldn't deny he was....a handsome man.

I felt the back of my eyes burn as I kept staring and I started to panic again.

"I've promised. I won't hurt you, Vivan," he cooed.

Somehow, I could regain my breath as he was holding my neck in such a professional way.

"Trust me, " he cooed again.

Before I could say anything else, I heard a loud gunshot go off. "Seems like we got companies,"

He then looked down at me. Then I felt pressure on my neck.

"By the way, I'm Mateo. Mateo Devin," I heard that green-eyed man said before everything went black again.

"She was just resting. But she longed for the end of agony."
