In actuality even if he had died Spectral Soul could have revived her, Yin Body, through his own Yang Body.
But the semblance and taste of Freedom she had would be lost.
Immortal Killer Move ---------- All-Consuming Fire
A ball of ghostly flames shot out from the Ying Guang Xin, this move contained not just Fire and Soul Path profundities but Food Path as well!
Although Ying Guang Xin was no longer a split soul, hence no longer having Spectral Soul's attainments, he was still given a bunch of moves and methods from Spectral Soul and with Heaven's Will's help he managed to at least be master attainment in all of Spectral Soul's paths.
The ball of fire started out small but soon grew bigger and faster.
This moves specialty lay in the difficulty of stopping it.
Not only could the ball grow from devouring other Dao Marks, but it could also devour the attacks of others.
But the most insidious thing about it was that it would head directly for the Gu Immortals Soul and eat it as well!
It would then go from Gu Immortal to Gu Immortal consuming their souls and bodies to grow stronger and stronger.
Spectral Soul even theorized that if it at enough Souls it would give birth to its own conscience!
Though it would be unlikely to reach that level.
"Hmm, it seems Spectral Soul has already gained a lot of insight from by Beasts of Devour." Fang Yuan was thinking to himself.
Suddenly, he felt his consciousness slowly sinking away and being replaced by a vicious hunger.

He inspected their auras; they were nearing completion lacking just a bit more power.

It was Freedom and Responsibility Gu!
Ever since Ying Guang Xin was awakened by Feng Jiu Ge's song these 2 Gu had been brewing in his aperture but just like in the

"What if I combine Yin and Yang to create pure energy? It would help speed up the refinement process without contaminating the Gu with external Dao Marks." Ying Guang Xin thought.
He sped up the time in his aperture to give him a little more time to think: "Tch, even with a ratio of 100:1 Hei Lou Lan will kill me in 3 seconds, so I only have 5 Minutes to make this work!"
Ying Guang Xin finally knew the desperation that people were willing to go to for just 1 more second to stay alive just that little bit longer.

Using those halves, he burned away his foundation to create pure energy that could be used safely.
What he did not know was that he had actually touched upon a new form of Refinement Path, Pure Refinement!
Sensing the advances made to the world Fang Yuan's eyes turned serious: "Someone has found a new form of Refinement Path!"
This made him very worried he was already dealing with a lot, the battle for the Myriad Beast world, the hunger from the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu, the battle between the 4 Venerables, the approaching Chaotic Tribulation and now someone was trying to steal his Refinement Path Venerable status!
How could he not think it was a plot against him!

"No, killing him would allow Spectral Soul to bring him back as the two of them are linked I need to capture him somehow…"
Suddenly, Fang Yuan's consciousness got hazy: "Crap I used too much thought to deduce and now the hunger has advanced."
He stopped all thinking and focused on his hunger.
Fortunately, he was able to stave it off for now: "Phew, I have to be more careful."
He wiped the sweat off his brows and did not continue observing the fight between Hei Lou Lan and Ying Guang Xin.

The Gu was gathering into a ball and taking shape.
At that moment the cold touch of death permeated around Ying Guang Xin's neck.

"I went for the head this time," was the last thing Ying Guang Xin heard as his eyes began to drift away.
But right then a humongous pillar of blue fire burst down from the Heavens onto Ying Guang Xin.
Seeing the flames Hei Lou Lan dodged for her life.
"Tch, to think you would act in the end Spectral Soul,"
Indeed, at the moment of death Spectral Soul Demon Venerable had acted.
The fire burned away the Yang Body leaving ashes and the Immortal Aperture behind.
But soon those ashes began to reform around the Immortal Aperture until it turned back into the Yin Body of Ying Guang Xin.
She was once again born, literally risen from the ashes!
However, her eyes seemed to hold a brightness to them that was not present before.
Hei Lou Lan prepared another attack but before she could.
Ying Guang Xin jumped off the path of Ascension!
"Hei Lou Lan, next time I will crush you," she shouted.
She flew down to the 3rd Floor of the Path of Descension, causing the Ordinary Abyss to grind to a near halt, even starting to recede, with one less Pseudo-Venerable on the path of Ascension the criteria for ordinary dropped once more.
Fairy Zi Wei ran up to Ying Guang Xin: "Master why did you jump down? What about the mission?"
Ying Guang Xin looked at Fairy Zi Wei with pity in her eyes: "It's okay, I can't complete the mission,"
At this moment inside Ying Guang Xin was the complete Freedom Gu and Responsibility Gu!
Dying granted Ying Guang Xin the final form of Freedom and thus, allowed her to successfully refine

All of Spectral Soul's methods were destroyed and Zi Wei finally had control of her body for the first time in a long while.
Panic and shock began to fill her mind but, Ying Guang Xin quickly sent a message to her mind: "Act normal or we'll all die once we leave."
Fairy Zi Wei quickly caught herself and regained her composure before anyone could notice, after all, she was a Wisdom Path cultivator and a former head of Heavenly Court.
She soon regained her calm but had slight intermittent trembling in her hands, being under the control of someone was not fun.
Not only was she fully aware of her surroundings but she was also influenced to feel exactly as she was instructed to.
The absolute loyalty that Spectral Soul had instilled into her, forever left her scarred, even now she was habitually thinking of master when she thought of Spectral Soul.
"Why did you free me?" Fairy Zi Wei asked via mind link.
Ying Guang Xin chuckled: "I guess because we're in the same boat now."
"I can always return to Heavenly Court." Zi Wei replied.
But Ying Guang Xin laughed: "Do you really think any faction will accept you now?"
"Not only did you betray them once, but you were also under the influence of Spectral Soul, even if I say I used Freedom Gu to free you do you think anyone would take the risk? Sure, your mind and body are free, but do you think I managed to remove and track or other methods he placed on your body. Or better yet do you think people will believe that?"
She had a point!
Who would take Fairy Zi Wei in now?

It was truly ironic that her savior was also her captor.
[1] Using He when talking about the Yang or male body and She when talking about the Yin/ female body.
[2] One thing I wanted to mention but couldn't find a way to fit it in was that Responsibility Gu does not weigh Ying Guang Xin down because there is no more Fate Gu that dictates everyone's life. In the past Fate Gu would slap Responsibilities on you that were out of your control such as clans and families, but now that it's gone, each person sets their own Responsibilities and each person is now free to pursue their own Freedom. It's also why Freedom Gu could be refined now, it's just Ying Guang Xin got to it first, also Freedom Gu is at Rank 8. Hence, currently, Ying Guang Xin has no Responsibility because she owes nothing to Spectral Soul. He is his own person now.
