"Rustle" "Whistle" "BOOOOM" "Whistle"
"Are we going to die?" Some children asked a young woman.
"No children, everything will be fine, it's just a storm."
"I'm scared big sis." a young girl says.
"Don't worry, everything will be fine." She tried to console them
"Knock"Knock"Knock" a sound of someone knocking on the door spread through the room.
"Stay here children, I will see who it is." The woman stated before making her way to the door. She then slowly opened it to see who was there but no one was in sight.
"Waaaah '' The woman looked down and found an infant wrapped up in a white cloth lying on the ground with a small coin purse next to him.
"Oh you poor child, why do people choose nights like these to abandon their children?" She spoke as she picked the child up and closed the door.
{14 Years Later}
"So tell me, why should I let a kid who hasn't even reached the age of adulthood join my Tower?" An old man spoke.
Across from him is a young boy who is just 14.
"And where would you even get the money to pay for your tuition? You are just an orphan."
"Well Sir, I'm really quick at learning." The young man stated.
"Quick at learning….QUICK AT LEARNING…. This is a mage tower for Magic sake quick at learning doesn't pay for Experiments. Tell me How long do you think Humans have studied Magic?"
"About 80 years sir."
"Exactly, 80 Years, We have studied for 80 years and we still have only scratched the surface. If we took in every kid who wanted to learn then we would never have any money left for Research."
"Sir, if you could just give me a chance. Could you please just tell me how to start being a mage and I can come back in a month so you can check how far I've gotten. If it isn't satisfactory then I will never ask again."
"Sigh""Fine, Just don't bother me and come back in a month. If you're even a day late I won't accept you."
"Thank you sir"
"Here" The old man said while tossing him a small book. "I hope you know how to read, if so then do what's in the book." He said before kicking me out.
'Yes' I thought triumphantly as I left the mage tower. I turned around and looked back at the large tower in the middle of the wilderness determined to claim my spot as one of its few inhabitants. Then I set off towards where my hometown was located….. The Wilds.
As I got nearer and nearer to my home I noticed something was off. See, my hometown is in a place called the wilds, many dangerous beasts roam around during the night with a few coming out during the day. In order to deal with those few that come during the day we always have teams of hunters scattered around within a 2 km radius of the town.
However today there was no one…. No hunter squads roaming around. No random merchants who wandered off the path. Only pure silence with a little bit of smoke rising in the dist-... "Oh no, I have to get back" I screamed to myself before running as fast as I could to the village.
About 5 minutes later I was able to climb to the top of a hill that was next to the village. Only to see it in ruins. The walls, the houses, the shops, even the town hall. Everything was nothing but smoldering ruins. Corpses were scattered along the ground, I saw the ones I treated as Aunts and uncles pinned to walls with swords or spears run through them. But that wasn't the worst of it, the worst is something that made me throw up just looking at. Even thinking back on the memory of this incident in the future made me sick to my stomach.
When I finally got to the center of the village, All I saw was Hell. My older and younger siblings from the orphanage, the young woman of the village, and even the young men. Nobody under the age of 30 was spared from this. All of them were scattered around, bloodied, bruised, dead… but the ont thing you could see on almost every single one of them was a thick white liquid seeping out of every hole on there bodies. There were even some dead beasts who were killed while they were violating them.
"Why" is all I could ask myself. "Why me…. Why am I the only one who got to live. Why is this world so cruel." I continued asking myself these questions, I screamed, I Screamed, I SCREAMED "WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN?". I continued screaming that while crying as I collapsed to my knees and everything….went….dark.
