The uninvited guest

Ryker

The island is secluded, and I mean, that was the plan all along. Get her alone and away from the world and all its noise. It has been a day and it has been peaceful.

The beach, the food, the quiet.

Watching her eat, smile, and laugh, nothing to interrupt the moment, nothing to remind her why she shouldn't feel this happy. We are at the beach right now, under a canopy. She is eating, and her eyes find mine every couple of minutes.

"This is the most fun I have ever had," she tells me. I am content with her admittance. She is still a little drunk, her hair wet, wearing her swimsuit and a blouse I had bought for her at the store.

Her arms, legs, and face are dirty from sand and skin heated by the sun.

She is like an angel, a girl I have to protect from the world. I feel protective and responsible as if I were the one who brought her into this world. Her lips turn up when she smiles, and I feel my heart leap.
