Escaping The Reclamation Facility Part 2

"My guess this all has to do with that block of code. Eve, I suggest no matter what, we should be wary of our surroundings for the time being." Aiu couldn't help but stress this fact. She knew that sometimes Eve could be careless, so even if she was repeating herself, she would still do it.

"I will, don't worry." Eve smiled inwardly. She could tell Aiu was worried she would screw something up. Even she was a little worried she would screw something up. Because of this, she had lowered her body behind the wall and made her way towards where the bridge was located. Every once and a while, she would poke her head up to see what was going on down below.

"Aiu, as a big what if, if I were to jump in the water right now, would my body be able to handle being submerged?" Eve asked. There was a large body of water in between this reclamation facility and the shore in the distance, the easiest way to escape would be by water, but she wasn't sure how well her body would hold up.

"With exposed wiring, it would be almost impossible for you to walk underwater. You may short out much more than just your lower body rendering you immobile, causing you to be stuck underwater with no way to move. The two of us would only be able to watch the fishes swim by for all eternity." Aiu said in a dramatic tone.

"Alright, I get it..." Eve rolled her eye and continued along the top of the wall until she came across a hatch. "Seems to need a passcode to open..."

"You could use the plugin on your left wrist, we can access the panel and try to override the systems, but this might trigger an alarm," Aiu suggested. Although it was dangerous, the sun was starting to peek over the horizon, and the chances of them getting caught would become greater at that point.

"Humph! Who said we would get caught? Who do you think created you!?" Eve felt her pride as a programmer was being targeted. She was now up to the challenge!

She quickly pulled the panel off and found the plug for the hatch, and connected right to it. Her astral desk popped up in front of her, showing a new program was available. It was called Astral Dive. "Hmm… Is it because I plugged into the control board? Well, whatever."

Eve double-clicked the program, which brought up a virtual space in front of her where she could manipulate all the things on the screen with just a thought. "Hoho… Now, this is interesting. It's accessing the board virtually, allowing me to see the circuits in a virtual environment. I have tinkered with a program like this before."

Eve bent her fingers back as if she was cracking them before going right to work, waving her hands around as she worked her way through the virtual space. "Those are the capacitors. These are the memory banks… Hmm… There it is! The control chip where the code is stored."

Tapping on the control chip in the display brought up a red file structure. "Seems these files are all protected, which means I will need to crack the security on them. But so far, I do not see any security trips. My guess is that only the program files were protected. Such a lack of security will be their downfall!"

"Eve, you seem excited." Aiu could tell by Eve's voice that she was very excited at this time. She always got like this when she was met with a challenge.

"Why wouldn't I be? How long has it been since I got to hack something? I think the last time was when we hacked that old man who kept trying to steal my work. Hehe… That day we wiped out all his hard drives and even his externals. I could hear him yelling and cursing my name even through the soundproof walls." Eve remembered that she had erased all the hard work the old man had worked so hard on for so many years. But she felt no pity it was his own fault for attacking her first!

Eve's eyes were locked on the screen as she opened up her script editor and began creating a whole new program. It was a program that would hook into the Astral Dive program that would allow her to decrypt and erase all her tracks. She only needed to get the passcode stored in the file structure and not destroy the system outright. She was also searching for any triggers. Things that would set off sensors that she would also need to shut off.

Her eye went back and forth as the lines of codes appeared on the screen at an amazing speed. She did not even need to test things as she wrote her application. After a good fifteen minutes, Eve finally hit enter, and another app appeared on her desktop. She named it after the Astral Dive program and called it Astral Assist. She then fired it up, and within seconds strings of data came pouring out of the files system, telling Eve everything inside of them.

"There, got it! Passkey: 728362038. But before I use it… I should hook up this knife." Eve opened up the file system for her own program and added a new file called Eve_WeaponSystems. She then took the knife from her metal basket and some spare wire and rigged it securely to her wrist. She made sure that the knife would fold out to where she could easily grip the hilt. Once she wired it in she, saw it appear on her diagnostics program in red with a warning that said: Missing code. With a press of a button and a few adjustments here and there, Eve gave a thought, and the knife swung open, allowing her to grip it with her hand, and with another thought, it swung closed as if it was never there. "This should do. Although I do not have much combat experience, if I can get close to a human, I can at least take their life if I need to..."

"Eve, are you not scared to take a life?"
