CHAPTER FOUR: MAKE-JAE-HAVE-A-HEARTBREAK

"You want me to do what now!?" Yuri felt like her eyes were popping out of her sockets.

"Stop being so dramatic, it's an easy job." Chris rolled his eyes, putting the bundle of money in the counting machine.

"Chris, let me be very honest here," She let out a sigh, "I don't like you, I want to smack your skull open and punch you in the face with a brick and by telling me to do these ridiculous things, you are only increasing your chances of getting beaten up by me." Yuri said, placing her hand on his shoulder and giving it two light pats as she sported a sarcastic smile on her face.

He snickered at her before shrugging her hand off his shoulder, "You owe me money, I'm pretty sure the price will only increase if there is a scratch on my face." He replied back with a bright smile- which seemed a lot less genuine than Yuri would have liked it to be.

Yuri sighed, looking away in frustration and ran her fingers through her hair, "This is too much, Chris! If I get caught then-"

"We will not get caught, don't worry about that- well, at least, I won't, if you do, that's your expense." He raised his hands up in a surrendering motion and shrugging making Yuri glare at him. Oh, if only looks could kill.

"Listen asshole," Yuri hissed, her annoyance with him getting the best of her, "As much as I hate your ass, I do know I have to put up with it until I can pay you back, so, open your ears. If I am agreeing to this, I need to know that I will get out, safe, there is no one that will take care—"

"That will take care of your mom. Yes, I know," he rolled his eyes. I can't believe I dated him. "Okay, deal, you'll get out safe and thus, bring me another part of the money you owe me."

Yuri let out a sigh, trying to calm her nerves, "Okay."

It was going to be a long day, wasn't it?

-----------

It was going to be a long day, wasn't it?

Jae practically jumped inside his car, cutting off the outside world completely. He let out a sigh of relief and leaned his head back against the seat, his heart thumping against his chest.

What. Had. He. Done?

All this would have never happened if only he had paid more attention to the situation and wouldn't have been so naive to talk to an unknown girl in his own living room.

The picture looked… bad. That was the only way to put it. It did not looked forced and due to the quality, even though the girl's face was not visible, his was recognisable and it didn't help the situation.

"Where now, sir?" Jae's driver asked.

Jae stared out of his dark window at the crowd of people standing with their cameras pressed against the window. He clicked his tongue and looked away, sighing again.

"Home," He whispered before sitting up straight and clearing his throat, "Drive home, I'm tired."

"Yes, sir."

Jae did not know what to do. He had come out of his house early in the morning, ready to face the media, however, he had not expected a herd of people lurking in front of his house with their cameras stuck to their eyes (maybe even permanently). The worse was however yet to hit him but it did when he reached the office. He was immediately summoned to the board room as they demanded answers for such a 'scandal'

He did his best to explain what had happened and just because he had always been more than respectful and a better man than the media painted him to be, people did listen. So for now, he was safe— only from a business perspective though. Online, it was a 50/50 scenario. He was either slandered for being a 'playboy' or defended; with the top hashtags only relating to him and the media constantly following him around, he didn't think he was going to escape that soon or even, that easily.

His phone rang, pulling him out of his thoughts. He picked it up and heaved another sigh.

"What you gonna do?" Adrian, one of his closest friends asked.

"So, you've heard too?" Jae asked, resting his tongue against the inside off his cheek, annoyance seeping into his mind again. Adrian scoffed.

"Heard about it! Jae, it's all over the news. You shouldn't be surprised even if the news reaches the Mariana Trench."

"Not with your jokes now, Ed." Jae rolled his eyes. The line went silent for a while before Adrian spoke again, "What went down though? I mean is she your…" he trailed off.

"Girlfriend? Absolutely not. She came to my house asking for help." He said, desparately.

"And you, like a stupid idiot believed her?" Adrian stated, as if it was the most obvious thing, well, to be honest, it was.

"Then what was I to do, dickhead?"

"I don't know, maybe first check her identity?"

Jae sighed, again, knowing well enough that is in fact what he should have done, even before he had let her into the house.

"I don't know man, I don't know. Dad is about to kill me and the media isn't helping." Jae leaned his head against the seat once again, tired.

"Why don't you try having the pictures taken down?" Adrian suggested, clearly understanding his friend's problem.

"That'll just increase the assumptions about her being my girlfriend."

"Then make her your girlfriend."

Silence took over the line.

"Adrian, let me be very honest here. I have no respect for you and you aren't helping your situation by saying dumb shit."

"No bro, listen— pay her, have her sign something and make her be your girlfriend before making it seem like she broke your heart and left you. Solves your problem." He made… sense… somehow.

"Adrian, your plan sounds so dumb and stupid but… it makes sense? How?"

"Because I have a higher level of intelligence than most," Jae rolled his eyes at this, "Listen, it is not the worst of ideas. You can try it, for a month maybe and then done. You go your way, she goes her and you get the public sympathy."

Jae couldn't believe he was actually considering Adrian's suggestion.

"Then it's set Jae," Adrian said, "Operation Make-Jae-Have-A-Heartbreak."

Before Jae could say anything, Adrian spoke again.

"Anyway, I'm driving to your place, I'll see you there, bye." And he hung up. Jae sighed, looking at his phone and shaking his head.

Operation Make-Jae-Have-A-Heartbreak, hmm, not the worst name.
