"Who are you?" my eyes snapped open at the voice. It was a deep manly voice which had a strong authoritative aura. But I shuddered at the thought of being found. I took back several steps and crawled into the corner while my hold on the glass shard tightened. I knew it was not enough, but that was all I had in the name of safety.
"I asked, who are you?" the voice sounded closer this time as i did not reply. But I was standing there in an alert position. I would attack any moment the man would come closer.
Footsteps could be heard distinctively on the concrete ground. I moved closer when I was behind his back, so that I could subdue him easily but he was stronger than I had thought. He held my arms tightly in one swift motion and put enough pressure on my wrist.
The shard of glass fell due to the pressure and so as my hopes to defend myself. I glared at the man trying to scare him from my newly grown canines. But he just raised a brow as if I was entertaining him.
He was broad, muscular and had a perfect inverted V figure. His golden eyes were warmer than the sun but I only shuddered when I looked at them. There was no doubt he was one of them. His eyes were glowing just like them. His chiseled jawline and pointed nose and chin was giving him a muscular aura. His authority and charisma was leaking yet all I felt was fear. He was there to kill me!
When no one arrived the whole day, my foolish mind had thought that they would have given up on me. But that is not the case now. Because reality was holding me tightly in his arms.
"Who are you??" he asked again, with a low growl and I blinked. Shouldn't I be the one asking that?
"Olivia. I replied after some hesitation. I was not sure if that was what he was asking.
He snorted as he came closer to me and sniffed again. What was he? A dog! I frowned but said nothing as I still wanted to live.
"A chimera?" he titled his head as he looked at me. His strong breaths were caressing my neck as he continued to sniff me. It was a tingling feeling. Did the man not know the meaning of privacy? Or had he forgotten that I was a woman?
"Who are you?" this time, i asked to gain all my strength and he smirked.
"Since when did the chimera have the guts to ask us questions?" his tone was haughty as he finally left me. But he held me with so much pressure that I fell on my butt when he let me go. One thing I learnt is that they have hierarchy too. And whatever had I become, I was on a lower level than the man standing in front of me.
Without giving me a second glance, he sat on the rock and mumbled, "this is my secret place. You can not stay here. Leave!" Who was he? The government or the land owner.
I stood up and stood in front of him. Looking straight into his eyes I shook my head, "this is an open place in the woods. Anyone can stay here. And I have come here first!" My tone was full of confidence and so was my eyes but I did not know why he started laughing. He laughed as if I had told him the best joke in the world.
"Are you new? Don't you know the rules?" he asked in a haughty tone but his eyes were looking at me with disdain. My lips pursed into a thin line. Should I tell him the truth or fake an experience? I needed someone to guide me and protect me in their world. But I could not trust them so easily. Could I trust him?
He finally looked at me when I did not reply and frowned.
"So you are new! Where have you come from?" I took a deep breath and controlled my emotions. So that he could not know any further.
"Where is your group puppy?" he asked when I did not say a word.
"I am not a puppy!" I replied with a glare and he chuckled. "So the pup had fangs too. You will not be able to survive alone. Go back to your pack before they will hunt you and eat you." though there was still a chuckle on his face, but his eyes were grim. He was serious and I gulped at the thought of being attacked again.
"Who would dare to kill me?" I asked arrogantly. Though my hands had turned sweaty, I could not show him my weakness. If that happened he would be sure that i knew nothing.
His eyes turned fiercer and his gaze penetrated my soul. As sexy as he looked, he was no less than a devil reincarnated who could capture my soul that instant. But he did not know that I have faced enough fears, and after the last incident, I am prepared for anything in my life.
"Where are you from?" He ignored my question but this time his tone was strong and authoritative. It was forcing me to kneel in front of him yet I persisted. It was taking every ounce of me to not shudder and give up. I would rather die than kneeling in front of him.
"I am from the southern woods. I am lost and therefore hiding here.`` I made the best story I could, hoping there were woods in the southern area and there lived the chimeras he was talking about.
"Who wants to kill me?" I asked again when he stayed silent as if pondering over my words. I could not let him do so and I wanted to know my enemies too so that I could protect myself.
"Are you dumb or have your pack never been attacked in that region that you are asking such a foolish question?" he asked with disgust and when I thought that he would not tell me anything and turned back, he snorted and added, "humans! Who else?"
