A new pack

"Because there may be a chance that you are not lost. They have abandoned you little pup." His tone was full of confidence and I wanted to laugh at him and tell him that I never had a pack so how could they abandon me but it was a great way to end the discussion of pack forever. I just have to act a bit and convince him that I was despondent hearing the news!

"No! What are you talking about?! They could never do that to me." I covered my face with both hands and shook my head vehemently. My eyes also turned wet and I trembled.

He looked at me with sympathy but then spoke in a very cold voice.

"Alright. Do not behave like a human even if you have their smell. You should learn to be strong, after all you are a wolf too.`` When he uttered the word human, hatred was so visible in his eyes that I gulped. What if he came to know that I was a human too!

No! I shook my head. I would just collect some information and then part my ways with him. There was no chance that we would meet again. So, I did not need to worry about my reality. He would not know unless I told him. The thought brought some relief but I continued to look dejected.

"But they will never leave me. I am one of them." I continued my acting as that was the only way for me to gain more knowledge.

"I know. Most wolves are loyal to their members. But things are changing these days. You are weak. Just look at your shoulders.``He held my shoulders so tightly that I could even hear the sound of my bones crushing under his touch.

I winced and struggled to break free and he finally let me go.

"See, you did not even have the strength to get yourself free even when I was holding you so lightly." my eyes flared at his sarcastic comment. The man was needed to be explained the meaning of the word lightly!

"I am not that weak!" I retorted and surprisingly he nodded.

"Weak words did not even fit you. Pathetic and vulnerable would be more appropriate." he nodded at his own statement and my hands clenched into a fist. This was the first time in my life that I had been called weak! Much less pathetic and vulnerable!

"You would have dragged your pack down with you. So, they abandoned you." he repeated as if explaining to me would lighten my pain and I would feel relieved. The man did not know how to console at all.

"Then what shall I do? Where shall I live now?" please tell me you can keep this place and leave. So that i could think of a way to arrange my meal now.

"Hmm, you have to learn to stay alone. For that you needed to be trained. It is a very difficult task but not impossible. After all, there are many lone wolves in the woods." he looked at me from up to down as he took a circle around me.

That was not the response I was expecting. I needed more information. But I just nodded.

"Hmm, then we will start tomorrow." he replied and I frowned.

"Start what?" I asked as I turned to look at him when he was standing behind me.

He looked at me as if I was a fool. "Your training. What else!?" he asked as he tilted his head. To be trained by him means he would get a chance to watch me closer. Though, it could be beneficial for me to learn a way or two. But the risk of getting caught was too high. So, I shook my head.

"No! How could I ask you to train me? I did not deserve that treatment." I replied trying to sound humble but the man nodded.

"Of course, you did not deserve to be trained or taught by me. This is an honor for you." he nodded agreeing with me. This man or wolf or chimera whatever he was did not know the meaning of modesty at all!

"But I have taken pity on you. So, I will help. After all, who would be better than me to train you?" That was another level of narcissism. I had never heard someone claiming to be best at something he had never even done.

"I think I will manage. You do not need to worry about it." I added again as I took my step backwards. All I wanted was this place for myself and some knowledge about what I had become but he had started his own drama. I did not need this troublesome man around me at all.

He tilted his head as he noticed my small steps.

"Why? What are you worried about? Is there something you are hiding?" his fierce golden eyes and his authoritative aura turned one notch higher and I gulped. Was he suspicious of me? Had he noticed something? I smiled awkwardly as I shook my head.

"No! What will I hide. I just don't want you to disturb me because of me. After all, you have a pack to go back to.`` I added, as he had told me that every wolf had a pack and he scratched his chin.

"Of course, I had completely forgotten that I needed to return to my pack." Finally a wave of relief washed over me when I finally got rid of this leech who was trying to stick to me.

"Yes, then you shall hurry. You do not need to waste your time over me.'' I said with a face of regret that he did not notice my relief and excitement.

He looked at me with a frown and then sighed. He shook his head as he told me. "No! I can not leave a weakling behind. I will take you with me to my pack. Do not worry little pup, you have a new pack now."
