(Extra) Happy Halloween!

There they stood. The looming building in front of them only proved they had arrived. The old cracking wood, the soggy moss-ridden floor on the porch that they stood on, the looming shadow the house created as it blocked the shine of the moon.

The cold wind of the night blew restlessly, sending shivers down their spine. Not only Rens but also her friends Vivan and Rya. Ren stood in front of them closest to the house but still as scared.

"Ren, are you sure about this?" Vivan's voice asked, shaking.

"Ya maybe we should just go home," Rya said agreeing with Vivan.

Ren stood there and looked as if she didn't even acknowledge their concerns. She just stared at the looming house in front of her.

She too had these same concerns in her mind. She thought how easy it would be to run away. She too knew there were dangers that came with a house like this.

There was only one thing keeping her standing so valiantly. Her resolve her strength her bravery!

It all came from the person standing in front of them all. The person not standing in the back on the grass, not the person standing in the middle on the steps nor were they the person on the porch.

They were the ones knocking on the door to this house of danger. They threatened to wake the beast with every knock. The sound threatened to awaken any monster that may hear. Yet he knocked.

Akari knocked on the door.

"Yup this is the place," Akari said as he opened the unlocked door.

He was fearless. He was the smartest person she knew. He was always in the right. He was Rens' older brother. Or at least Rens' young impression of him.

It didn't matter if her impression of him was true or not because the motivation she felt from being so close to someone like that was true.

With resolve in her voice, Ren spoke proudly.

"We shall enter the haunted house and conquer it!"

Vivian and Rya take a look at each other but as it was the same with Ren's motivation that came with Akari Vivians and Ryas' motivation grew as they saw Ren.

So after a loud "right!", they all entered the building marching in. Akari followed behind them with a book in his hand giving a quiet "right".

Now inside the building, they all marched into the long hallways that connected the house. Like branches on a tree, it split off into multiple directions but without thinking they kept going down them without thinking.

Now deep inside the building, they couldn't help but slightly lose some of their resolve. The outside of the building would point to the fact that the house was abandoned. Which it had been.

Yet the items on the inside showed a deep past of what mi

ght have been. Unlike the outside of the house, most items were untouched with very little being broken or torn.

The items showed a story left forgotten. Chairs left out at a dinner table. A plate left on the counter. A kids' room, still with the faint paint of blue. A room similar to a bar with drinks left on the counter and the stained ground.

Maybe years ago this place might have been a place people lived.

"Crack" The breaking of wood is heard behind the group.

Quickly the group looked behind them. Their imagination thinking the worst of what possible monster could have created such a noise.

Yet as their vision focused and their heart rate slowed it showed Akari's foot standing on a now broken wooden toy. Akari, not realizing this, kept reading his book. His focus all on the nearly impossible-to-read book in the dark.

He only noticed when he almost walked into the group of preteen girls that had all turned around at him.

"What?" Akari asked, wondering what was going on.

The group of girls soon broke into laughter. They couldn't believe that all their worry was all caused by a clumsy act of Akari. They couldn't believe that their quick assumption of a horrible monster was just a teenage boy.

Akari, not truly realizing the situation, just stayed silent and kept trying to read his book in the dark. He would wait out the girl's endless laughter.

When the laughter finally grew silent they were once again ready to continue their exploration of the house.

Ren took a step with her left foot and-

"BOO!"

Terrifying right in front of her face was something she couldn't truly make out. The darkness of shadow covered its body.

With a monster so close to her Ren jumps back with a scream and her thoughts were only consumed by the feeling of running away. The two other girls saw their only hold on bravery break right in front of their eyes and soon followed Ren

The three of them ran as fast as they could from the monster they had just barely been a few seconds away from walking into.

The only one who stayed was Akari. It might have seemed that once again he was invested too much in his book again and was just oblivious to the monster just in front of him. But as a matter of fact, he knew more than the girl what he was truly walking towards.

"Hello Menchie," Akari said as he stood in the spot Ren had when she was face to face with the beast.

"Akari?" The monster spoke in a normal human voice.

"That's me alright, you got a light around here? I can't read my book."

"Huh? Uhh, sure man hold on…" Menchie said as he took off a mask.

He then turned on a light in a room. The room was very different from the other rooms in the house. It wasn't old, creepy, or ruined. In fact, it looked like it was just placed there the day before.

Hurriedly Menchie looks around the room trying to find something. Akari on the other hand finally takes the moment of light to read his book.

Sadly it doesn't take long for someone to interrupt him.

"Hey, this should work," A girl in front of him says.

Akari takes the flashlight not caring that a random woman has given it to him instead of Mechie. He then turns around and is about to leave when Menchie grabs his sleeve.

"Come on man, aren't you even going to say hi to her?"

Turning around Akari gets a good look at the person that had given him the flashlight and is unimpressed with what he sees. A normal teenage girl. Girls' uniform, most likely from his school.

The girl had her hair tied up but messy. She didn't wear glasses but the light shine of her eyes made him suspect she was wearing contacts. Not only that but the shoes and jewelry she was wearing were something trending in the school.

Though he noticed the logos on them were a bit different from the original.

Overall she was just a teenage girl that wanted to be popular. He couldn't help but think how commonly annoying this sight was.

That was the impression he got of the girl he hadn't even talked to yet.

"Thanks for the flashlight, I'm Akari"

"The names Katt," She said with a smile.

The way she closed her eyes and smiled annoyed Akari. He hated how she slightly tilted her head. He was annoyed at how hard she was trying.

"Well, I'll be off then," Akari said as he walked away.

Akari was able to let his true thoughts be unnoticed like he had done many times before. It was hard with girls like that but not impossible.

Liars were some of the people he hated the most. People who use false words to scam and manipulate. People that tied their barely made hair to make it seem cleaner than it really is. People that lied about wearing glasses to make themselves look better. People that pretended to be richer than they were and wear a fake popular brand to seem cool. People who couldn't keep more clothes than their school uniforms yet wouldn't tell anyone about it.

Akari hated people just like that girl. A liar.

Just as Akari was getting stuck in his own thoughts he was almost out of the 'haunted house'. Yet as he was about to leave he heard a voice from inside.

"Happy Halloween!" A girl from down the hall yelled to him.

Akari took a quick glance back at her and saw something he originally didn't notice.

With a smirk, Akari leaves the house but not before replying back to her.

"Happy Halloween…"
