How the fuck was he supposed to get out?

He had said to run, to get as far as he could. That, they didn't understand the words he preached and ruled by. That, even then, it wasn't his time to rule yet.

Yet.

For now, he threw random pieces of clothes into a travel sack and other things for powerful magic spells. He had to decide quickly where to go.

But where?

His thoughts couldn't keep up as banging sounded at his bedroom door. The voices were so near and dear to him but now screwed in hate and anguish.

He hastily glanced around his bedroom, anything he was missing?

The board locking the door started to splinter, time was up.

He grabbed the emergency sack and ran to the window, everything was already set in place.

The board finally gave and snapped in half, while it clattered to the floor echoing.

He looked back to the door, three figures of varying sizes loomed in the doorway. He was passed out of time, he was late.

His breath caught in his throat when he saw just what they were carrying as he shut his eyes and turned toward the window.

He quickly jumped out the window using a wind spell to propel himself up as his wings flew out from behind him. The soiled air reminds him just where he is.

That's when a fireball flew straight past his head grazing his braids. He whipped his head to the figures in the window, the pure rage on their faces made him shiver.

He knew that they already had their followers blocking the portals to the overworld. He could see the one near the castle already overrun with them.

He had to figure out a new plan.

But with his brothers still on his tail while throwing attacks at him he had no time to stop.

He turned right downwards towards the lava pools. He had one chance to do this.

He started a spell, though, this spell would take more mana than he had to offer.

He focused his mind, gathering every ounce of mana he could muster, channeling it into the complex incantation.

The air crackled with energy as he weaved the spell. The three figures pursuing him also sensed the surge of energy and grew even more enraged, intensifying their attacks.

Ignoring the pain and exhaustion, he completed the spell just in time, unleashing its full force.

The ground around him trembled as a massive portal began to form, drawing energy from the very essence of the lava pools. It was a risky move, as the instability of such magic could consume him if he wasn't careful.

With the portal now open, a swirling vortex of energy beckoned, offering a path to somewhere else.

Somewhere safe.

Without a second thought, he leaped into the portal.

It closed right behind him as the figures pursuing him skidded to a stop. Eying the spot where he once was.

the tallest glared at the other two.

"Find him! Search anywhere you have to I want him gone!"
