"Ouch," I say, my voice muffled from the object above.
Whatever it is it's not absurdly heavy or something so that's tolerable. I find no inherent threat in its existence, yet it is an egregious nuisance. I would try and get this thing off of me as soon as I could but from the sound of it, it seems Kira has that covered.
"Get off Master!" I hear Kira say.
Only a moment after I hear that the weight above me gets knocked off me followed by a gust of air. My vision promptly clears seeing a scared Kira looking at me.
"Master, are you alright?! I hope I managed to get that thing off you before anything bad could happen, right?!"
"I seem fine Kira but what was that?" I ask her this but she only looks angrily past me looking at something.
Figuring it out I turned around to see exactly what had caused this whole thing.
"Ahh man, what is that the second time? Man, I gotta be more careful with that." The thing says rubbing its head.
I check it using appraisal, however, nothing shows up. It was blocked.
I take a step back from the figure.
The thing looks at me giving me an inquisitive look. It's then I feel a shiver come over my body. I feel an odd feeling I've felt before. As if my entire body is being examined. He just used appraisal on me.
However, his face doesn't show him to be any more satisfied but more curious. Is he not satisfied with looking at my fake stats page?
"I'm so sorry to drop in unannounced, I mean you know how it is right? Teleporting every now and then tends to leave you falling 50 feet in the air."
This thing possesses teleportation capabilities? My initial inclination is to question his veracity. Yet the fact he was able to get above me so fast that neither Kira nor I couldn't see hear or stop him certainly adds an element of complexity.".
"Oh I think I'm supposed to introduce myself my name is-"
"A demon."
From the little I see that's the one conclusion I can conclude from just looking at him. Wings, horns, and different skin color. It's either a demon or some monster I haven't heard of. Which can only mean it's a demon.
"Demon? Did I forget to? Ah, never mind. Well since you already know it's nice to meet you! My name is Krandor Elyon Naryndor Oriana Scepter and yes you could call me a demon if you want. I mean technically it's like underworld racism for you to call me that but whatever."
This is just another reason for why I get so annoyed around royals. All of them have names way too long to be used in a normal conversation. Even though I might be annoyed about it, it did inform me he's some type of royal, especially one that's a demon
This is a foe we can not defeat. He may indeed be lying. If he is then our chances of winning increase dramatically.
I doubt he's lying though. Not only is faking being of high status looked heavily down upon, but demons also take this further. Death is almost always certain to come from the person you are claiming to be.
How demons are able to know when someone is speaking ill of their name I do not know. Well even if I knew nothing of demons I sure would know that a normal imp is not capable of teleporting so casually.
I'm about to tell Kira to let me talk to him but it seems she has already taken a stance in front of me to protect me. "Why are you here?" She asks in an angry tone.
"Oh, just passing by, you know, I didn't plan to fall on your dear master here," he gestured toward me with a careless shrug.
"Then you better hurry up and get out of here." Kira accused, her sapphire eyes blazing with a fire that I had never seen before. Her hand twitched by her side. Possibly ready to cast a spell.
"Well, normally I would you know? But uhh I don't know you two seem like a crazily interesting pair. I mean just to start off a Slimekind? Those things are super rare, not to mention I've never seen a form like yours before." He walks casually around us as he talks.
I can only guess Kira's form is based on Mara and Akaris' endless rambling around her. She must have taken up a form Akari would most likely enjoy.
The demon continues talking. "Also you have to show me how to cast spells without casting! When you knocked me off him I thought I was mistaken but I'm pretty sure now I'm not. Where did you even learn to do that?"
"Well, I guess that would be from me," I say.
The demon stops walking to stare at me. "You did? Oh right, you were also kinda weird. I mean for a human if you already know how to set up fake stats then I guess it makes sense."
Him saying that last bit makes me certain this guy is no joke. I don't know what this thing's deal is but I really don't want to find out.
"You guys don't mind if I come over there do you?" Even though he said that he was already taking his steps closer to us.
With that Kira hit her breaking point and rushed herself at him at insane speed. I don't even bother stopping her. I may be worried for our safety. I can also guess the outcome of this battle.
Kira will lose of course but it's what comes after. This demon guy seems too weird from what I imagined a demon to act like. Kira will be fine… Probably.
The ground where Kira runs makes a noticeable mark. It only takes her a moment to reach the demon once there I watch her fist glow with magic. Putting all her weight into it she punches with a combination of an air spell.
The result?
"Yo." The demon says only a foot away from me.
"Yo," I replied.
Kira had totally missed and the demon had somehow gotten right in front of me without me noticing.
I watch the aftermath of Kira's missed punch. It seems the momentum had carried her past multiple sets of trees and rocks dodging all of it and managing to land on the ground a bit farther away.
It does Irritate me how nonchalantly he teleports. It's such a sacred ability yet he pays it no mind like it's some low-level spell. Yet not like I can tell him that.
Why is he looking at me so weird? My assumption was that his personality prevented him from even being close to dangerous. Yet every time he interacts with me he seems off.
"Why are you acting like that?" He asked me.
"Like what?" I responded back.
"Like your, not you. Why is everything about you not as it should be."
What? He knows? But what would give him that idea? This guy doesn't even know me, or Akari.
I'm about to give him another Akari-like response but Kira is already back to break our chat up.
Kira runs up behind the demon and once she's close enough she slides under him. Once under him, she activates a spell directed up at him. The blast hits directly causing the magic water blast to propel him upward.
I watch as the demon just simply continues going up. Kira is able to stop her slide and join me looking up in the sky for the demon.
"Maybe that was a bit overkill," I say, still looking in the air.
"Yea maybe," She says.
We watch for a few moments until the small dot in the sky becomes too small to see.
"Welp time to figure out how to get back in the academy," I say finally looking away from the night sky.
"Right, we should do that," Kira says, also looking away.
Truth be told, I already know how to get back into the academy. Using a combination of communication and a few spell circles I have on me. They all have their own uses. One of them should help Kira not get harmed when she enters the academy.
With this combination of strategic conversational skills and the magical power of small yet effective spell circles.
"Let's get back in that academy," I say confidently.
It's then I hear a voice that should be miles in the air by now, "Oh, that's easy! Let me help you out!"
Both me and Kira turned our heads behind us but we never managed to see the thing that both me and Kira already knew. By the time our eyes had adjusted, he wasn't there.
"What just happened," Kira asks.
The entire scenery had totally changed. In an instant, we were in a field then the moment later inside my room in the academy. My assumption is that the demon decided to teleport us perfectly into my room. However, any trace of the demon is totally gone.
"Were back in the academy," I reply
Once I and Kira settle down we quickly try to get to sleep. By now there are only a few hours left until it's morning and I need to go to class.
I stare at the ceiling waiting for myself to sleep. This is one of the many things I have yet to understand. As a skill soul, I never had to worry about sleep so it's a bit hard to figure out the whole thing.
Next to me is Kira in her slime form. She's asleep but at times like this, she reminds me of some type of stuffed animal. I do recall Akari having one or two in his world. Though Kira might be a bit better than one of those. Her comfortable warmth and snug anatomy makes her in another class than one of those things.
With her and the work, I've been putting in…
it's not too hard…
for me to…
get tired…

…
There is a figure surrounded by black. I am unable to define a single thing about him other than the suit he wears and the clipboard he holds. "Perseverance 7-17," It says.
"That would be I" I respond not fully understanding what's going on.
"7-17 there have been system alarms going on near your host and after getting informed from Lesser Servant I had to check out the situation." It says.
Wait a minute is this greater servant? He's here? I must explain myself. "You see, I was forced to do this."
Greater Servent for some reason decides to forget I even said anything. "When I finally realized what was going on I almost could not believe what I saw 7-17. I saw what I thought to be the most rule-following skill soul go on a spree of breaking almost all of them."
"Wait, no you don't understand, are you even listening to me?" I ask.
He just continues on talking "Non-interference, Non-possession, Secrecy, Non-persuasion of the divine, Soul Boundary, and Energy Conservation are just some of the many rules you have broken 7-17. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"Come on, have some heart!" I plead
"Do you know what they will do to you when they find out about this? I doubt you'll feel much after you get Fragmented or your memory wiped. I mean who knows what the great ones will think of."
"Please Greater Servant, you know me."
Again he pretends I didn't say anything "What do you have to say for yourself?"
…
"I just did what I thought was right…"
There is a long pause. There is nothing to fill in the lack of talking. That's only until…
"It's really not--" He cut himself off, a snort of laughter escaping despite his efforts. "Not funny."
"What?"
"Haha! Wow, I really had you going with that one. Didn't I 7-17! Man, you got more emotional than I've ever seen you before!"
"Wait, you were just joking with me?"
"Of course, I was, are you kidding me? 'I just did what I thought was right' and when you said 'Come on, have some heart' I mean hearing that from you is impossible!"
"So I'm not going to get reported?" I ask.
"Of course not! This is already proof that this is great for you, I can't wait to see how much more you progress. You should have done this sooner."
"Well, that's a relief I guess haha," I say fake laughing.
"Now that being said, if I catch you doing anything that crosses the line too much I'm gonna have to stop you but for now you're doing perfectly. Actually, maybe stop trying to act like Akari so much it really doesn't fit you and the fact I've known for a bit really shows it's not working."
"Oh, I see."
"Well, this is when I take my leave. You have class soon anyway so you should probably get ready for that."

"Master, wake up you're going to be late!"
