A week later.
Knock knock knock.
"Yes, wha; Headmaster Shuang what can I do for you?" Mr. Shang asked after answering the door.
"Marquesses Shang I am here to take your son to the forbidden city to collect his school supplies".
"Marquesses, when did my family title rise 3 ranks".
"It was when your son tamed the national bird" Headmaster tactfully replied, "so where is he, I'm a busy man; you of all people should know that".
"I think we are perfectly capable of taking our own son to get school supplies," Mrs. Shang said while walking out into the entrance room of the house.
"and if you are so busy it would be a shame to keep you" Mr. Shang added before shutting the door on the middle-aged man, the headmaster was visibly annoyed as he really was a busy man, and this 5-minute detour was vexing, but he was still happy he didn't have to spend hours with a boy he didn't know, so he just apparated out.
In the halls of the Grand Pagoda in the center of the Fenghuang's grounds, the headmaster could be seen appearing with a loud crack, while walking down the halls, hundreds of students wearing black robes with embroidered dragons of gold on their backs, these robes are the same as the imperial robes of old.
In most literature, the emperor was the highest power in china, and for a long time he was, well he thought he was, but once the magical world disobeyed his commands he outlawed magic. Outlawing magic was all he could do though.
And the magical would of course didn't dare anger the nonmagical world too much as they outnumbered them a ten thousand to 1, but they wouldn't let the emperor just have his way so they got back at him in petty ways, like having students wear Imperial robes as to say "all our students are just as good as you, the emperor, so we the teachers are better than you", the emperor eventually had to concede to the magical world; only this time the emperors were chosen from the magical families.
The only reason the students still wore them was that; one they were very easy to make; two they are very comfy to wear; and lastly only the 6th and 7th years could wear them so in a sense they were the dragons of the magical world.
***.
Walking down the street the red walls of the forbidden city was instantly visible, once they neared the walls jack looked at his parents in confusion as the entrance was dozens of meters to the right not in front of them the only response he got was them knowingly smiling.
Once they got close enough to touch the wall, Mrs. Shang stopped for a second then began to speak in Chinese "Kāiqǐ, wěidà zhī mén".
Seeing the wall fold open revealing the sprawling streets filled with thousands of people flanked by hundreds of buildings each with their own purpose, made jack go wide-eyed.
"That's still awesome. Alright, let's go your books first, then we will go to get your robes and accessories; then finally we will go and get your wand," Mr. Shang told the still flabbergasted jack.
"Then we will go to the Chongqing Zhongshuge Bookstore" Mrs. Shang happily said.
The Chongqing bookstore was a hobbit hole in the side of a mound of dirt, with paper flowers adorning the grounds around as if they were as alive as real ones. The entrance its self was a massive circle door with golden threads snaking through the wood's grain, in the center of the door the words "Chongqing Zhongshuge Bookstore".
Although the entrance made the bookstore look small, once one went inside they saw that it was absolutely massive, with it stretching for well over 50 meters.
The book store its self was a circle but the main hall was a bridge that extended from the entranceway to the back of the store, it also had no walls just railings with giant staircases either going up or down, Jack was even more surprised at this sight than the one at the entrance because there wasn't just one story above them but 5 and that's not even counting the ones that he saw below them.
"Amazing isn't it," Mrs. Shang said while walking up to Jack who was still gazing at the endless amount of floors beneath them.
"Yes, I knew magic could do a lot, but…. how is this done," Jack asked.
"Well, not a lot of people know how it was exactly done, only that more than 10 very experienced spacial magic-users were hired by the goblins to enchant this building, not only that but it took 10 years to do it" Mrs. Shang.
"Goblins, they exist" Jack almost yelled in shock.
"Haha, of course, they do, they also run most of the wizarding world as they in general as they are the ones who make and circulated the magical currency that us, Britain and china use because the biggest 3 wizard communities use their currency they hold immense wealth, power and a firm grip on much of the world." once Mr. Shang heard what Jack said he couldn't help but to chuckle "Now let's go, we still have a lot to do, also here are your books".
Once Mr. Shang handed over the bag of books they all started to walk to the entrance, but as curious as Jack is the temptation was killing him so he took a peek into the bag.
"Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them by Newt Scamander, The Standard Book of Spells by Miranda Goshawk, The Advanced uses of Transfiguration Year One By Li Fan, Year One Study of Magical Thought by Li Fan, The Standards of Dueling by Guan Qin, The Darkest Magic by Yao Shen, Herbology At Its Greatest by Dong Zhilan, Immortality at the tap by Yaoji Shi, and The Beginners Guide for Hexes and Vexes by Kieran Wilkinson" Jack listed off all 9 of the books in the bag.
