Delayed

Laura entered the ballroom of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit where the international pathologist symposium was being held. There were so many participants, maybe around 300 people or more, Laura recognized some of the faces.

In fact, there is a professor who became her lecturer during her master's degree, Professor Daniel John Landon. She walked over to Prof Daniel's seat to greet him.

"Hello Prof Danny. How are you? Long time no see." Laura said as she reached out to shake Prof Daniel's hand.

Prof. Daniel was a bit surprised and also happy to meet his favorite former student who was also his pride. "Hello Laura Darling! I am great, thank you. What a surprise meet you here Sweety! Please come a sit here."

Laura sat down next to Prof Daniel and spoke at length with the same enthusiasm as when she was under the old man's tutelage. Laura is very close to Prof. Daniel's family, and is even considered her own daughter. Prof. Daniel's children are both boys, the eldest was even Laura's lover, Philip Landon.

When the event was about to start Laura was about to move to the back. However, Prof. Daniel did not allow it. He asked Laura to change the seat next to him, he also asked the event committee to arrange a seat change where for three days the event could not change places.

Laura was actually a bit embarrassed because the front row of seats was reserved for senior professors, while she was still very green compared to the figures in the main row of chairs. But Prof Daniel insisted so she would just do what he wanted.

The symposium went smoothly because all those present were professionals who really appreciated their time and hard work. 30% of the symposium participants came from Thailand while the remaining 70% came from Asia, Australia, Europe and America.

According to Laura, this is a very prestigious event. It's a rare opportunity to attend such an event. The first day of the symposium was filled with 6 research presentations of the latest findings in the field of anatomical pathology.

The committee said that the video recording of the symposium event will be given in the form of a flash disk on the third day when the event is over.

At 17.00 Bangkok time, the first day of the symposium ended. Laura said goodbye to Prof. Daniel who was still busy talking to some of the colleagues who surrounded him.

As Laura was about to leave the ballroom, an event committee member chased after her.

"Professor Laura! Wait for me please!" cried the man.

Laura stopped in her tracks and turned to the man who was chasing her.

"Yes. Can I help you Sir?" Laura asked confused.

"I am Prof Tuyen Naa from University of Bangkok. Chief of Pathology Anatomy Department. I am a friend of Prof Charles," explained the man.

Laura understood now that the man was a friend of her dean Prof Charles. But what was the man chasing after her?

"Ohhh I see. Is there anything I can do for you, Sir?"

"We need your favor please Prof Laura. Can you help us with our case in King Palace?" said the man again which suddenly surprised Laura.

The case at the King's palace? The man also explained at length that the King's koi fish have been dying in turns for the past few weeks with reddish bodies. Laura knew what she had to do. Because the three-day symposium schedule was very busy from morning to evening.

Laura said that after the symposium ended she would help research the case. Laura returned to her room at the hotel and called Prof Charles. The call was immediately connected.

Laura: "Good afternoon, Prof Charles."

Prof Charles: "Good afternoon, Prof Laura. Yes, is there a problem in Thailand?"

Laura : "Yes, Prof. Earlier, Prof. Tuyen Naa came to see me and asked for help to investigate the case of the death of the koi fish in the King's palace. It is possible that after the symposium, I will be able to do Prof. That means I have to stay longer in Thailand."

Prof. Charles: "Ohhh it's okay Prof. Laura. It's an honor to be able to help with problems in the Thai kingdom. The problem of accommodation will be borne by the campus, if the Thai side does not cover the cost of living while there."

Laura : "Okay Prof Charles. Maybe the flight ticket back to Jogja can be rescheduled by the academic admin section of Prof? I'll let you know when everything is done."

Laura also ended her call to Prof. Charles. Laura also sent a message to James because she would delay her return home Thursday night the day after tomorrow. James had come home from college and was about to take a shower when Laura's WA message came into his cell phone.

A little disappointed actually because he will be separated from his lover longer. He also called Laura with the video call feature because he had missed her all day.

James : "Hey honey!" said James with a sweet smile.

Laura : "Hey Baby Boy! Have you come home from campus yet?" Laura replied also smiling at James on the screen of her cell phone.

James : "I just arrived at the apartment. I really miss you, My Honey. Why was it delayed?"

Laura : "University of Bangkok asked for help in detecting cases of koi fish deaths at the King's palace."

James: "Ohhh a difficult case? Or is there a suspicious direction where the case is?"

Laura : "The day after tomorrow I just wanted to do a survey in the field. But maybe I thought it was Koi Herpes Virus if I heard Prof. Tuyen Naa's story. Luckily I brought my Macbook, one of my researches during my master's was that case so I know very well the symptoms and the method of diagnosis."

James : "Good. I hope everything goes well, My Honey. I also have to help with Prof. Widya's new research with his master's thesis guidance student on campus. At least it diverts my longing for you."

Laura : "That's great James, I'm glad to hear that. Prof. Widya is a big fan of yours, when we meet he always tells James like this, James is like that with sparkling eyes. Hmmm ... you make me jealous of James!"

James: "Ahhh, how come it said so, Honey. Is that how Prof Widya is? I never even knew. But he was really generous with the bonus Lab assistant fee given to me. It made my friends always envy me when I was paid. Hahaha ...."

Laura : "Well, right. What did I say ... You are Prof Widya's golden child," Laura teased again at James who only smiled in response.

Laura : "It's been a while, Honey. Looks like my internet quota is about to run out."

James : "Ahhh want me to fill in the internet quota, My Honey?"

Laura : "No need, Babe. I can do it myself."

James : "Okay. Feel free to use my debit card while you are in Thailand. You are free to spend it, but don't lose the card, okay. There is a balance of 500 more there."

Laura: "500?"

James : "Yes. 500 million IDR more in balance."

Laura gaped at the nominal James had just mentioned. That's crazy, all this time she was carrying a debit card containing more than 500 million. She suddenly laughed.

Laura : "You're crazy James! If you told me how much it contained yesterday, I certainly wouldn't want to take it."

James : "Why not ... Honey? My other debit cards even have 1 billion and more. That's the card with the smallest nominal balance I have."

Laura : "Then you are the son of the sultan, James. Hahahaa ...."

James : "And you're the prince's lover, aren't you, My Dear?" said James.

Laura could only laugh at arguing with James.

Laura : "Okay Prince James, your lover wants to take a shower first. Bye, Honey! Muaahh ..." Laura said goodbye, ending it by blowing a kiss.

James: "Okay. Bye, My Honey. Muaaahh..." James replied in the same way.

Can't wait for Laura to come back into his arms. James felt his feelings blossom after calling Laura. He smiled to himself as he entered the bathroom to take a warm bath.
