It's Time

"Go!" Kai took off running through a field.

A girl with a small child-like stature readied her arrows, standing on a hill. She wore a handwoven brown dress with a revealing V line. Her long blonde hair twirled in the wind as she released the string of her bow. Revealing her small little bunny nose and long pointy ears that were covered in light brown fur. Letting a bombardment of arrows flying across the sky. Their heads all pointed towards Kai. One by one they shot down at him, piercing into the grassy fields. Kai ran with incredible speed. Dodging each one seconds before they could touch him. He weaved through the tall grass feeling it prick his ankles as he glided on by.

“Kai!” The little bunny girl waved for him to back.

Calmly he jogged his way her.

"Yeah?"

“That was good. You're getting better. But you're still cutting it a bit close. You have to be faster. There were times I thought you got hit." She places her tiny fists on her waist.

"I know." He huffed grabbing a leather pouch filled with water.

“Did you practice any of the techniques I showed you? What'd you do for two days?”

“Well, the thing is that I was going to but then we decided to have some training time of our own.” He smirked looking her up and down.

"S-still that is no excuse for laziness." She cleared her throat feeling her cheeks flush red.

"But I did enhance my power control though. See look." He closed his eyes pressing his hands together.

His demeanor altered. Altering his mischievous expression to a stern one. The bunny girl took a step back. Watching as his hands glowed blue. He extended his hand towards her as a tiny flame danced around in his palm. Transforming into a little humanlike figure.

“See.” He proudly presented it to her.

The little flame blew a kiss at her.

“That's cute, but you still have a long way to go before you can ever think about defeating Blyne.”

“Yeah, I know.” He sighed dusting away the flame.

"Personally speaking, your technique has improved. You have a lot more control of your natural powers than before. For that, I give you props." She nervously looked down dusting off her hands on her dress.

"Thanks, Lenzy." He smiled softly at her.

Her cheeks tinted pink as she playfully punched his arm.

“Here, eat up before we continue our training session. ” She tossed him a woven satchel.

He sat down flipping the top open. Pulling out a piece of bread and grilled meat that was wrapped in a large leaf. As he picked away at the food a tingling sensation ran up his spine. He looked around trying to find the cause of the alert.

"So uh, Kai t-this is for you." Lenzy held a flat package wrapped in paper and twine.

"What's the occasion?" He looked at her confused.

"Nothing. I just thought that you deserved a little something since you've been training relentlessly for the past few years. I uh, I hope you like it."

He took the package, ripping it open. He held up a fairly large beige shirt that had the sides half-open, with brown stitching on the seams. Painted in the middle was a pendant. One identical to his mother's.

"I-I made it for you. I didn't have your mother's pendant on hand, so I tried my best to paint it from memory. I hope it's right." She squirmed around playing with her hair.

Kai stood up stripping off his old shirt. Lenzy covered her eyes blushing hard. She peeked between her fingers finding it hard to stop her eyes from raking over Kai's perfectly sculpted body. She bit her lip remembering their erotic nights of passion. With those hips swaying and thrusting, she swore they were created for pleasure. She pouted when he slid on the new shirt.

“You did a pretty good job making it.” He examined the design.

"Thank you." Her face was beet red as she smiled widely.

He sat back down next to the blushing bunny girl. Taking a large bite of his meal. Out of nowhere, this dense feeling loomed over him. Causing the hairs on the back of his neck to stand straight up. His body felt sluggish and weighed down. What unsettled him the most was the fact that a faint voice whispered in his ears.

"Help me." A girl's airy voice whispered next to him.

He quickly turned to see no one behind them.

“What's wrong?” The bunny girl scrunched her face while chewing on a large bell pepper.

“Did you hear that?” His eyes scanned the surrounding area.

“What are you talking about?”

He motioned for her to be silent.

“Kai help me!” The whisper grew louder with every syllable.

He quickly stood up. Recognizing the voice.

“It's Ben. Something is wrong.”

“Are you talking about that human girl?” Lenzy felt her chest ache.

“I gotta go.” He threw the satchel back at her.

“Wait what about your training?”

“I'll do that later.” He ran straight into the nearby forest.

“Kai? Kai! If Bane finds you he will kill you. At your current state, you're still no match for him. You have to contin-” She chased after him.

“I said I'll be back later.” His voice hardened.

“Is this girl really that important to you?” Her face twisted with pain.

“No, she not.” He looked around examining the trees.

“Then why do you have to go back to her?” Lenzy clenched her fists glaring at the ground.

“Because I have to.” Kai snapped off a branch.

“How are you even going to find her? That world is huge. She could be anywhere. Not to mention that time passes differently for them. She may not even look like the girl you knew.” Her chest tightened, watching him scurry around.

“No matter where she goes I'll always be able to find her. She has my mother's pendant. I placed a location spell on it after losing it couple hundred times.” He chuckled reliving the days he would drink himself into a coma.

“Y-you gave her your mother's pendant?” Her heart dropped.

“Yeah. Well, not really. I didn't give it to her. I just told her to hold it for me for a little while.” He shrugged it off.

“She must mean a lot to you then." Her voice lowered.

"As I said, I'm going to go get it back."

“Can I ask you a question?”

"Go for it." He sighed.

“Do, do you like her?” Her small voice cracked.

“Argh! No, I don't okay. She's just a little rat who helped me out once.”

"But that's a lie, isn't it?" She looked up to him with big round eyes.

Kai walked over to her kneeling to her level.

"Hey, you know me. You know I'll never fall in love or even like anyone like that. I'm not built for that kind of emotion. Plus the last time I saw her she was a child. I'm not disgusting." He pats the top of her head.

"I also know you check up on her. Peering into her world through the glass. I know you care about her."

Tears clouded her vision.

"It's more like I owe her my life. Considering how she saved mine."

He stood up. Going back to pluck three small leaves from a side tree. Placing them in his palm with the pointed ends facing the center. He singed the end of the stick with his fingers. Using the blackened tip to write an incantation on the leaves as he whispered in a foreign language. The three leaves glided into the air. A shimmery golden glow swirled around them. Their veins bound together as they fell to the floor. They landed on the grass like leaves on water. Creating a ripple that echoed with the chimes of bells. Their golden glow expanded in the grass. Pooling out a good seven to nine inches. The ripples calmed down and the shimmer cleared. The area became crystal clear, revealing a disturbing scene. Kai peered down confused about what he saw. It mirrored a damp street at night with a girl laying on

the ground behind some building.

“Shit Ben.” He gripped his hair sucking at his teeth.

“Is that her? She doesn't look so good.” The bunny girl peeked over into the mirror.

"Is Moako still in the same location as before?" He tapped his foot twice against the mirrored image.

"Moako? Her pay is hefty. You don't have those kinds of funds."

“That doesn't matter I'll figure something out. So yes or no?!” He snapped at her.

"Y-yes she's still in The Forest's Corner." She jumped a bit.

Kai leaped into the mirror disappearing.

“You're welcome.” She watched the pool evaporate with the wind.

As a single red hair flew above her.

“You liar.”
