Past's Fold

He stared intently at the object in Ben's hands. The cover showed a little blonde pixie girl next to a boy in a pointy green hat. The memory of their second day together flooded in his mind. It was her favorite movie to watch. The one where she placed her dreams inside of it. Hoping that one day her turn to be Wendy would come. Seeing her still holding onto that, made him clench his fists. Drops of blood dripped from his palms. Being in that space was starting to get to him. It was too much to handle. He knew this journey wouldn't be simple, but he was not prepared for any of this. Especially the guilt that built up inside him the longer he stayed there. But running away was no longer the answer. He use to hold her hand when she was younger. That small frail thing, no bigger than his palm but always so full of warmth held onto him. The minute he let go, her life began to crumble and this was the outcome.
