Chapter Six

2 weeks later

Stella

"And she was the worst maid that ever worked here, so lazy, Francis said as I laughed. We were in the living room chatting after we finished our chores and he was telling me about Cindy who worked here before me. He said she was really lazy and quite a chatterbox.

The bosses left earlier in the morning since they had a meeting and probably won't be back until late in the afternoon. The house was quite boring except for when Francis is around. The man was a god of comedy and jokes. He was fun, hilarious and sometimes delusional with his made up theories. He was odd but that's what made him unique.

"So, have you ever thought about kids, he asked throwing some peanuts in his mouth.

" No, not really. The time for kids is... Is definatley not now. I want them thou. Do you have any? "

" Ha. I got two girls and a boy who's a man now; has a wife and a child on the way, Francis said with a smile as he was probably thinking about his grandchild.

I heard the front door opened and we both got up. The time was still a bit early so I was wondering why the boss would be home at this time.

Daryl came strolling into the living room with Jackson?.....

They were laughing at something when Jackson stopped in his tracks when he spotted me. His face held confusion before his lips pulled up into a smirk. I looked beside me to realize Francis was gone.

"Stella, nice to see you again, Jackson said as Daryl looked at him probably confused about the fact that he knew me.

" You too, I say with a small smile as they sat down on the opposite couch.

"So, how are things?, Jackson asked in his sweet voice. Daryl crossed his legs with a serious face as he stared at me.

" Things are great and how about you?, I asked sitting down with my hands on my lap.

"Ah, well, just say you brightened up my day, he said with a little chuckle as I joined mine being a bit nervous because of the look Daryl was giving me. I didn't know if he was upset that Jackson knew me or another reason that I was oblivious about.

" How do you guys know each other?, I heard Daryl asked as I looked up at him then at Jackson who was smiling as always.

" Well, I offered her a ride home and we chatted a little. By the way how's your mom? "

The color drained from my face. Everytime someone ask me about my mom I try not to think too much about her situation. But I always fail.

"She umm, she's in the hospital"

Both of their faces fell into a blank expression.

"I'll go get you some juice"

I got up and left the living room. I went downstairs into the kitchen and took out a box of orange juice. I sighed deeply before taking out two glasses. I didn't want my mood to change today but it did. I didn't cry. I might have used up all my tears crying over something that I couldn't change.

I sighed once more before going back upstairs to see Jackson hugging Daryl in a friendly way before he gripped his shoulder and started to leave. He saw me standing there as he smiled a bit before coming up towards me.

"I'll be taking my leave now, I'll see you again Stella"

"you will"

He smiled once more before leaving the living room. I watched him go before turning around to see Daryl sitting with his phone in his hands. I walked over slowly and place the glass down before pouring him some juice.

"What happened to your mom?, he asked as he place the phone on the table. I really didn't want to talk about it. I hesitated a bit before sitting the opposite side of him.

" She collapsed at school and ended up in the hospital. The doctor says that she needs a kidney transplant surgery before it's too late".

I felt like my tear ducts were working again to build more tears.

"Sorry to hear that"

Our eyes held each others gazes for a long time before his phone started ringing. Because it was on the table I saw the caller ID and it was Amanda. I got up and left the room to give him some privacy.

I didn't have anything else to do so I just went to my room and layed down on the bed. I stared at the beautiful ceiling thinking about the possibility that my mom won't make it. I still had to pay bills and for the past few weeks I still haven't saved more than 80,000 dollars in my mom's account. The thought of loosing her so soon after all the struggles we've been through together hurts too much.

Knock! Knock!

I hurriedly got up drying my eyes before opening the door to see Daryl standing there. He was dressed casually but his clothes screamed expensive.

"Is there something you need sir?, I asked opening the door a bit wider.

" I'm starving"

"oh umm-

" I'm going out to eat, join me? "

Did he just ask that? I mean I could simply cook something for him but..... And my chores are finished. But what will his wife think if we went out together even if its just to eat. But it's just a friendly thing so I didn't mind that thought.

He was waiting impatiently on an answer.

" Yes sir, umm, am just gonna change my clothes"

"Meet me downstairs and hurry up"

He walked off with a gruff. What's up with him?. One moment he's nice and the other really bossy and grumpy. Are all rich people seriously grumpy?.

I pulled on some casual clothes and took up my bag with my phone and a few dollars before going downstairs to see Daryl with his back turned.

"Let's go, he says before walking off with me following behind. We went to the garage where there were plenty cars to choose from and he took the SUV before entering the car. I didn't know if I should go to the back or the front. I stood for a while thinking as his face grew impatient.

"Stella, are you gonna get in the car or not?, he asked with a gruff voice.

I sighed before hopping in the back. He started the car and drove off.
