NEW HOME

I stare at the colorful sky as we move towards our new home. Birds chirping in the forest that surrounds the road. I could see a small town nearing as we move.

"Well, darling, do you like the scenery?" Mom asked.

"Yeah" I said disinterested.

"Don't worry love, you'll love it here" Dad assured.

"I hope so"

We neared the town, it wasn't huge, but it wasn't small either. People waved at my father as we drove. Dad waved back to them.

"Love, I have a surprise for you" Dad announced as we stopped at a villa, not so big. But bigger than our older home. The one in California.

"What?"

"I got grandpa's old car repaired. You can have it"

"Really!?" I said cheerfully for the first time.

"Yeah"

I followed dad to the garage, and I saw a old Mercedes, black, parked there. It wasn't best, but the best I could've asked for. My dad had a BMW, which was very precious to him, so he was unwilling to share it with me.

"I love it dad"

"I'm glad"

Then we went to our car, where mom was waiting.

"You liked it?"

"Loved it"

Mom kissed me on my head.

"Come on, let's go in"

I wen into the house, it was still the same. 3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen. In the past, one bedroom belonged to mom and dad, another belonged to grandpa and grandma and the other was mine.

I went to the only bedroom on the top floor to see if it was still the same. It was. My bedroom was still in nude pink, a queen sized bed, with pink bedsheet and fluffy pillows. The wall in front of the bed, bared a tv. The wall beside the bed had a huge window, it also had a study desk. The desk still had my pencil stand and a picture of me, mom-dad and grandpa and grandma.

I went down to check out the other rooms, which were same. We hadn't been in this house since grandpa and grandma's death, in an accident. Which was 5 years ago, when I was 12 years old. We shifted to California when I was 10.

After I checked out the house, I helped mom and dad get our stuff inside the home. I made my bed and unpacked my things and placed them.

Then I went down for dinner, Mom was tired so we decided to visit a nearby burger shop, which dad said I used to love when I was a kid.

"Sleep early, darling. You've got school tomorrow" Mom aid when we returned home.

"Yeah"

New beginning. I was very bad at new beginnings. In my old place, people thought I was a weirdo, I was clumsy. And I never could fit in there.

And I knew people here would think I'm weird too. I opened my phone to check out my last school's class group. The teacher had left the group. There were many messages from the group.

UNKNOWN: "Reached the old town, weirdo?"

UNKNOWN: "So thankful she finally left"

UNKNOWN: " Yeah"

UNKNOWN: "Good, that she left. She could never have fitted here"

I closed the phone. I knew the same would happen to me here.
