Me and Sophie lined up for the game. And we ran towards the basket pass the ball to each other when our turn came. And as a clumsy girl, it was fixed that I had to fall and get myself embarrassed. I fell down hard on the basketball court.
I was suddenly surrounded by people. But I didn't care because my pain was too much. Some tears flew down my face.
"Are you okay, Mia?" the teacher asked.
"I guess..."
"I think she should go to the infirmary." Sophie shouted.
And suddenly strong arms gripped my waist and in no time, I was lifted from the floor. I was very shocked to see Chase carrying me to the infirmary.
He placed me down on the bed and told the nurse how I got hurt, the nurse nodded and went out to get the medicine.
"Why?" I asked.
He ignored me.
"Stop ignoring me! Why did YOU bring me here when you hate me so much!?"
"Stop shouting" he ordered, still ignoring my question.
"Then answer me!? Why do you hate me so much? And if you do, why did you help me get here!?"
"My parents taught me to be kind, is that a valid explanation for you? And yes I do hate you and I don't have to tell anyone why. So stop speaking" he said gritting his teeth.
Tears came out of my eyes before I could stop them.
"Stop crying like a crybaby. If you don't want mean and cold answers, stop asking questions. And if you do ask, get used to this kind of answers." He said as he stormed out of the infirmary.
The nurse brought the medicines and applied them on my ankle. I could barely walk, so the nurse called Sophie and Harper to help me get to the parking lot.
"Chase came to help! Oh my god, it's so unlike him" Sophie said.
"He didn't say anything mean did he?" Harper asked, concerned.
"No..."
"He did say something, didn't he?" He asked understanding my expression.
"Nothing much, don't worry"
"What's going on?" Sophie asked.
"I'll tell you later..." I said.
"I'll drop you home" Harper said.
"Okay...but my car?"
"I'll drop you first and then drop your car there"
"Okay, thanks Harper."
"No worries"
"Hey, I can get your car to your home, I don't have a car, so it won't be a problem...I can follow you both"
"That's a good idea" I said.
"But you do know how to drive, right?" Harper said laughing. I joined.
"Of course."
We drove home I, being interrogated by Harper about what Chase said. And he was quite angry knowing what Chase said to me. But I was more worried about the questions my parents would ask. They'll flood me with questions. So I got mentally ready.
