The last three days have really been straining on the vampires. Vladimir had begun rigorous training sessions to teach his underlings more about handling the wolves. Things were going according to plan as he let the wolves win that battle which would make them underestimate the true strength of the vampires. It was a game of the mind, tactics and strength and Vladimir knew how and when to play his cards. With the wolves full of pride, it would allow the vampires to capitalise on their underestimation and they could really do some damage and give them a good grip on controlling the order of the forest. The false grip he had given the wolves over things would now be their down fall. The fact that he had pushed Armin a step down and put another person in charge was key in driving him to refine his skills and truly achieve his full potential.
On the other hand, the wolves have assigned Miranda, Kent and to guard the entry point of the vampires into the woods which was at the eastern part of their territory, Brent would join them later once Keisha's back on her feet. With more focus on that side of the forest, Eric altered and made adjustments to the paths covered by the wolves repositioning them and allocating more ground to each unit to cover more ground. He and Connor had to make smart and tactical decisions that would benefit the pack rather than putting them in harm's way. Mary and Ethan swapped positions with Miranda and Kent as both would take over on their side and they would move to theirs. Access to the eastern side would now need authorisation and you need to be accompanied by a beta and you must be in pairs. Security would be tight around there as Eric didn't want to put another person in harm's way.
"Man training's been hard Armin" A vampire lamented in pain as he rubbed his hips. He was a black Brit on a low cut with black eyes, a long black coat, black boots, black trousers, a leather satchel bag with a grey shirt.
"Yeah but it's worth it, Vladimir's giving us ways on beating werewolves easily rather than getting put in harm's way just to land a hit" Armin replied as he tightened his boots
"True but one thing in don't understand is why he dropped you from your position and put that good for nothing Tasha in charge. She can't lead, horrible and giving orders, I mean it's really the most unwise thing Vladimir's done" He said looking at the scenery around them to see Tasha trying to organise a group of new borns to go scouting and hunting.
"I know Rex but who are we to challenge the head of the coven, all we can do is to follow his orders" Armin said in a low tone as he still felt the impact of being dropped from his position.
The two walked back up the mountain to rest up after a hard day of training.
William was really worried about how Keisha's operation would go. He bought some flowers and Keisha's favourite chocolate. Brian and the gang comforted him as they left an eager William in front off the room of the operation and went out to get on patrol. Miranda and Linda handled the whole procedure as they were the most experienced with wolf medical issues. Since they were just two, Linda and Miranda would need to start teaching the girls or any boy interested on how to handle medical procedures as the time for them to leave all of this wolf business behind them was fast approaching. William was then even more concerned as he heard screams come out of the room which signifies that the procedure had started. You could really feel Keisha's pain as she yelled agonisingly, this worried William more than ever and he hoped for the best.
The screams kept on going for about twenty minutes before it all became silent. Miranda walked out with a towel whipping her hands. She assured him that all was okay and he could see her once she woke up and all the blood was cleaned up. The image of them opening Keisha's back, then breaking her spine and shifting it back into position with all the blood and gore plagued Will's mind and he had to get it out of his head some how. Knowing well that it was going to be a while before Keisha woke up and his belly grumbling, he kept the flowers and chocolate delicately before rushing off into the woods to get a snack and to clear his head. He moved through the woods with blistering pace hoping over fallen trees and logs, weaving his way through branches leaves and rocks until he finally launched himself down into the valley. Due to the fact that bushes had grown immensely tall, they blocked his view of a step drop into the valley and he went right into it rolling like a sac of beans that had been allowed to roll freely until he finally came to a stop. He stood up a bit shaken as he shook his fur to remove any twig, leaf or insect that hot stuck to his body. He stretched his body as he prepared to hunt.
"What's on the menu today, Red deer or Roe deer?" he contemplated in his mind until he finally made a decision.
"Red deer it is" he said before walking off to track them down.
He found a couple of tracks and followed them which led him to a herd out in the open. With now bushes or trees for cover, he had to make do with chasing them out in the open. As expected, the deer spotted him from a far and made a break for it. With his approach seen, Will picked up the pace running as fast as possible to catch up with them and make a kill before they got into dense vegetation. He hauled his ass all the way over there in the nick of time to snatch a kill as he travelled close to two and a half kilometres in seconds. He got down to business in eating up his meal.
Tasha and her group of vampires were able to make it into the woods successfully. She was now in charge of the scouting unit and was to teach the new comers how to scout. No better place to practice than behind enemy lines huh. Armin and Rec followed them loosely behind just to keep and eye on her as she was known to make irrational decisions and wasn't tactical at all. One of the reasons why she was reserved for a firefight and nothing tactical at all. This was the main reason why everyone was shocked when she was given that position. With no tangible scouting experience for the last couple of years, this hot shot was going to put these new ones in danger which sparked the reason for Armin and Rec to bail them out if needed.
"Alright group the first thing about scouting is....is...oh my gosh remember" Tasha said as she hit her head with enough force to knock a normal man out.
The students watched as the one who was meant to teach them didn't even know what to teach them.
"This is hopeless" Rex stated from the top of a tree he and Armin had manned to watch Tasha and her squad.
"I agree" Armin replied.
"I mean, you should be the one put there teaching those new comers, heading the scouting team but we're here stuck with this mess of a vampire"
"Well, orders are orders. All we can do is watch and pray that the wolves don't pick up their scent early or they'd be in some deep shit" He blankly stated
"Yep, let's just hope that"
After a couple of hits to the head, she finally remembered.
"Oh I've got it, the first thing about scouting is camouflage. We have to blend in with our environment so that those pesky wolves don't pick us out and we also have to mask our scent so that they don't get on our trail early" She said in a joyful tone.
"Took you long enough" one of the new borns said.
"Who said that?!" Tasha reminded as her voice changed from laid back and happy to commanding and fierce.
"I did" A lean slender male said as he walked up to her.
"Oh, it seems we've got an outspoken one. Well let me teach you something about being a vampire" She said as she cracked her knuckles.
In the blink of an eye, the boy was given a point blank punch to the head sending him through a couple of trees and into the ground.
"Never, ever, talk back your superiors" She said arranging the gloves on her hand.
"Now come along, there's much to be shown" She said skipping through the woods.
This seemed to frighten them as all their thoughts of trying to you with her were all blown away and respect was given to her. Two lads pulled the unconscious boy out of the ground and carried him around.
Armin and Rex knew that something irresponsible was going to happen and the ruckus created by the boy going through the trees were sure to attract and all they could do was hope that they won't get to the scene in time to cause harm to them. They continued to trail Tasha and her group as they headed deeper into Wolf territory.
Will made his was back to Keisha's house and once he walked through the bushes, her mom gave him a nod to signify that she was awake. This brightened up William's face as he ran straight into the house grabbing the chocolate and flowers that he'd kept and knocked on the door eager to hear her response.
"Come in" she called with her weak voice and Will ran in and gave her a long hug.
"I'm so glad you're okay. I Heard you screaming and I got worried about you and the whole operation..." William blabbed before Keisha placed her finger gently on his lips to shut him up.
"There's no need to act all worried Will, I'm okay and everything went well" she assured him.
"Well all that screaming seemed to say otherwise"
"Well what do you expect, that type of procedure was going to be painful"
"I know but what about the morpheme, didn't they give you any?"
"They did but it wore off quickly so I could still feel them as they broke my bones and put them back in place"
"Ehhh, well I got some thing" Will said as he revealed the flowers.
"Awnwwwn, how sweet" She said with a smile on her face.
"That's not all, I got you these" Will said happily as he revealed the box of chocolate.
"You got my favourite, thank you so much Will" She said joyfully as she opened her arms to hug him.
"It's the least I could dox he said as the two hugged.
Back in the forest, Miranda and Kent went to investigate what led to trees suddenly falling and they found tracks, vampire tracks. This triggered all their sense to be on high alert. From the footprints they saw, they were six in number. Immediately Kent and Miranda sounded the alarm alerting all the wolves in the forest who replied with their own howls. This got to the ear of Will and Keisha let him go to join the others. The vampires knew they were in trouble and had to get out of the woods as soon as possible.
"Oh crap wolves. Alright everybody, that would be the end of today's lesson and we would continue some other time as right no we really need to get out of here so let's move" Tasha instructed as the ran back to their point of entry.
"As expected they'd find their tracks and chase them down" Rex said with disappointment.
"Well, we can't have anything happen to them can we, let's make sure nothing ugly happens to them" Armin stated, which was more like an instruction.
"Can't we let a few get picked off and stain Tasha's record so that you'll be put back in charge?"
"You have to stop being so marrow minded, protecting those new borns are more important than your personal agenda. Each one of them is crucial in our plans of retaking the forest so they come first" Armin said before launching himself from tree to tree monitoring Tasha and her companions
"Spoken like a true leader" Rex remarked before hoping from tree to tree following Armin.
The vampires moved quickly to where they came in from but the wolves were well organised in chasing them down and planned expertly for them. Miranda and Kent appeared from the bushes stopping them from making out of the forest. Before Tasha could even turn around, Connor, Eric, Ethan and Brian appeared circling them. Clearly out of options, the only way they'd be able to make it out would be to fight. Armin and Rex watched from the tree top not wanting to intervene unless that absolutely had to.
"Let's see how this one plays out, right Ar?"
"Yh, let's see if she can make the mature decision"
"Alright guys, this is where your training comes in, make the most out of it and follow my lead. Understood?!" She instructed.
The new borns replied with a nod as Tasha led the charge against the wolves. Kent leaped at her but was sent off with a strong side kick to the jaw. Miranda was next as she tried tried to claw her down but Tasha countered by side stepping the attack and giving a strong punch to the jaw as well. Obviously they weren't dealing with an inexperienced Vampire but someone who knew the ropes on wolves. Kent wanted to step in but was stopped by a growl from Miranda. She didn't want to put him in harm's way and wanted to handle it alone. He joined Eric and the others who were surprised by the skill and coordination shown by the new half bloods as they had obviously learnt from their last fight and had gotten some training, it wasn't as easy as last time.
William, Mary and Brent were on their way and their presence would tilt the fight in their favour. The training was evident as the wolves were punished for their underestimation and sloppiness in handling the matter and paid everytime they messed up with a strong hit. The vampires aimed for the joints as they knew it would do more damage to the wolf than other parts and would have a longer sting. Ethan was met with a combo of punches to the head before retaliating with a strong right paw slap to send the vampire into the ground, giving him enough time to recover and get back in the game. Eric, Connor and Brian were dealing with their opponents quite well and kept them at bay landing some attacks and being on the receiving end of some as well, a well balanced fight none the less. William, Mary and Brent finally arrived and got right in. This seemed to upset the flow of the fight as the wolves got more control and were picking them back. Tasha was really a force to be reckoned with as Miranda had her work cut out for her as she was caught a number of times napping. She was currently being overwhelmed with a combo and punches and Brent flew in to the rescue buying his mom valuable time to recover and get her arsenal back together. Brent took the luxury of throwing Tasha into a tree after getting a hold of her in his jaws. She had her work cut out now that she had to deal with two wolves. Brent was more agile than his mom so it was harder for her to land the punches that usually caught his mom. This gave the space to cut and bite her and when Miranda got back on her feet, it really pushed Tasha into a corner. William backed Ethan up who seemed to be overwhelmed and frustrated Connor and Mary were about to kill a vampire as Connor clamped down on a leg and Mary on her arm. This caused Rex and Armin to intervene even though they didn't want to.
"It seems we have to step in now" Rex said as he reluctantly stood up to his feet.
"Yh, can't have anyone dying, not today at least" Replied Armin as they both dropped from the trees down onto Connor and Mary's head driving them to let go of the vampire in their grasp.
Their experience was much needed on the battlefield more than ever.
"Hey new guys, you guys get out of here, we got em" Rex instructed as they ran away. William attempted to chase them but was stopped by a strong kick from Rex to the ribs.
"Not today little puppy, no one's dying here" Rex remarked
Just the two of them were more than capable in buying them time to escape. The seven of them went on the offensive and this had Armin and Rex rethinking their decision as they almost got caught by the jaws of death more than once. They were on the receiving end of a lot of attacks and Armin created an opening for both of them and Tasha to escape. Armin grabbed Eric by the head and threw into his wolves as the tumbled and fell. Rex then used the chance to give a strong elbow to Brent which would make him fly into his mom. With this, the three of them sprinted with all that they had so that they won't die by the teeth and claws of any of the wolves that chased them behind. The wolves have chase to them for a while but stopped as their attempt was futile, that had already gotten far away from them. Tasha was breathing heavily like a dog that had just chased a squirrel for miles and laid there on the floor. Rex and Armin expected nothing from her as she was their superior now.
"Not even a thank you" Rex grumbled
"What were you expecting man, superiors hardly ever even think of saying a thank you talk more of Tasha that is enjoying the fact that she no longer has to receive orders from us anymore"
"Yh, I just let my mind get the better of me"
The two of them walked back up the mountain as the new turns thanked them for saving their asses in that fight and the commanded their respect not by beating or hitting them but by their character, maturity and demeanor which spoke volumes about them. Just another day in the life of Armin and Rex.
