Chapter 23 - Itsuki vs Blaine
'Mist is not going to work here since Magamr's body heat would just evaporate all the mist. Dragonair cannot fight Magmar in close distance since there is a chance of getting burned due to Magmar's flame body. A good thing is that Dragon type is highly resistant against fire type.' Itsuki's mind was running at lightning speed. He was thinking about the best moves that can hurt Magmar.

Two seconds later, Itsuki took a deep breath and said.
"Use Rain dance"
Dragonair!
Dragonair flew up, 10 meters above the ground and roared which caused black clouds to appear.
"Magmar, don't let Dragonair use rain dance. Use Fire Blast"
"Dragonair, use dragon dance to dodge and then use rain dance."

Dragon dance increases user's strength and speed. Dragonair's body glowed in blue light and suddenly her speed increased. She easily dodged the fire blast. Then rain began to pour on the battlefield.
Drip-Drop!

'Rain dance increase the power of water type moves by 50 percent and decreases the power of fire type moves by 50 percent. Rain dance is a nightmare for every fire type gyms.' Itsuki knew that the battle just had started. Magmar still holds the level advantage.

After few days of training, Itsuki realized that the more Pokémons level increases the harder it gets to raise their level further.
It did not take much time for Dragonair to level up from 17 to 30. But it took longer time for Dragonair to raise her level from 35 to 36. Above level 30, each level in this rank has huge gap. The difference between level 35 and level 36 is like comparing 1 with 10.

'Fortunately, these few days I focused on raising my Pokémons speed and strength and let them polish their moves, increasing their proficiency.'

"Magmar, use focus blast" Blaine knew that fire types moves will be weakened in rain dance so he want for fighting type attack.
"Dragonair, use agility and dragon dance to dodge."
Dragonair!
The Cyan color ball headed towards Dragonair whose body was glowing in blue light.

Boom!
Dragonair easily dodged the focus blast. The focus blast hit the roof above.
"Dragonair, use dragon breath"
Hearing this, Blaine also prepared a counter.
"Magmar, use over heat."
Boom!
Both yellow and white beam hit. Magmar's overheat attacked power was reduced by half while Dragonair attack power was enhanced due to dragon dance.

Blaine looked up at the dark clouds and suddenly an idea came to his mind.
"Magmar use fire blast on the center of the roof."
Cynthia and Itsuki immediately understood what Magmar is trying to do.
"Dragonair don't let Magmar use fire blast. Use Dragon Breath."

"Hehe! Too late" Blaine Magmar's level was in 40 so his attacking speed was faster than Dragonair by one second. In battle one second also matters a lot.
Magmar fire blast hit the roof while Dragonair Dragon Breath directly hit Magmar.

Boom!
After the Fire blast the hit the roof, the shock wave produced as a result pushed all the black clouds and stopped the rain completely.
'Dammit' Itsuki clenched his fists. This was the first time Itsuki had faced such tough situation. But Itsuki was not the type to give up this easily.

Magmar fall on the ground and looked injured. Seeing this perfect opportunity, Itsuki again ordered Dragonair.
"Use Dragon rush"
Suddenly Dragonair's whole body was enveloped with a blue mythical dragon. Dragonair descended towards Magmar at very fast speed.

"Magmar hurry up and use smog"
Boom!
Just when Magmar released a grey color smoke, Dragonair had directly hit Magmar with a powerful Dragon rush.
"Shit!" Itsuki face also looked worried. Itsuki knew that Dragonair must have been poisoned by the Smog attack.

Dragonair then flew in the air but her speed looked like it has decreased.
"This is bad" Itsuki knew he have to keep attacking otherwise once Magmar gets up this will over for Dragonair.
"Dragonair, use twister"

Twister formed on Dragonair's tail and she trapped Magmar inside the Twister.
Blaine also looked concerned. 'Just how many moves did Itsuki taught his Pokémons.' Blaine looked very frustrated. Even Cynthia was also surprised.
'Agility, Dragon dance, Dragon Rush, Dragon Breath, Rain dance and now Twister, Amazing!"

"Magmar keep releasing Smog."
Magmar!
Grey color smoke turned the white twister into Grey. Now the whole battlefield air was filled with poison and the poison concentration was getting stronger.
"Not Good, Dragonair use Dragon tail."
"What another move" Both Blaine and Cynthia was shocked beyond. Normally a Pokémon would only have 4 moves or in some cases 5 to 6 moves. But Itsuki's Dragonair had 7 moves.

When the Twister finally ended, Magmar took few seconds to stand up. But when he did, he was hit with a Dragon tail which directly sends him flying and crushing on the wall on right side of Blaine.

"Magmar, stand up" Blaine shouted. Itsuki thought that battle was over but who would have thought that Magmar still could stand.
Itsuki smiled bitterly. This is the difference between levels. It's already a miracle that despite being only in level 36, Dragonair was able to injure Magmar seriously whose level was in 40.

Itsuki took a deep breath and looked at Dragonair who looked very exhausted and she looked like she was in pain due to the poison.
"Dragonair use Dragon Rush"
Again blue mythical dragon wrapped around Dragonair as she charged towards Magmar.
But this time, Dragonair's speed was little slow because of the poison.

"Magmar use Fire blast"
By the time Magmar used fire blast, Dragonair already had come near Magmar and
Boom!
Black smokes spread in the battlefield. Both Blaine and Itsuki looked very nervously. Both of them had a feeling that this was the last move which will decide the battle outcome.

Cynthia also looked concerned. 'Compare to my battle, this battle is on another level. Cynthia from the beginning can tell that Itsuki was facing very strong opponent. She never thought Itsuki would come this far.
'I thought Dragonair would be defeated in few moves but Itsuki kept giving Blaine headaches.'

When the smoke clear, Magmar looked seriously injured but he was still standing. In front of him, Dragonair was lying on the ground and she had fainted.
Itsuki sighed in relief and called Dragonair back to the Pokeball.
"You did wonderful job Dragonair, I am really proud of you."

"Come out, Zera"
Zeraora!
Zera roared towards Magmar. She did saw what Magmar did to her sister Dragonair and now she wanted revenge.
Feelings Zera's anger, Itsuki nodded with a look of determination and fire was burning in his eyes.
"I will get that badge."

Meanwhile, Cynthia and Blaine were trying to find which type of Pokémon Zeraora was. This was the first time she had seen this type of Pokémon. Even for Cynthia, she only saw Zera today. Yesterday Itsuki's Zera stayed in the Pokeball when they were having dinner. Itsuki told that he fed Articuno and Zeraora in a quiet place since he did not wanted any attention.

"Zera, use Flash steps and Plasma fist"
Zeraora!
Yellow lightning began to glow around Zera's body and she suddenly disappeared and arrived in front of Magmar.
The blue lightning began to glow around Zera's fist and she directly punched Magmar face and kept landing punches on Magmar's face.
POW!
POW!
POW!

Even though Magmar was always glowed in red and yellow, Itsuki, Cynthia and Blaine can see the red blood of Magmar on his face and chest.
"Zera, stop" Itsuki stopped Zera as he can see that Magmar already had passed out from all those punches, yet Zera kept punching him.

Zeraora!
Zera roared and returned near Itsuki.
Cynthia and Blaine looked at each other in shock. Cynthia has never heard of Flash steps or Plasma fist.
"Both attacks are really powerful. Even Magmar had no time to react."

Blaine gritted his teeth because he knew that he have lost the match. Blaine used is Magmar at the beginning because his second Pokémon was weak. It just recently evolved and was not trained enough to fight a strong Pokémon like Zera.
"Come out Rapidash"
.
Rapidash is a cream-colored, equine Pokémon with red eyes and a long horn atop its head, similar to a unicorn. Its mane and tail are comprised of red and yellow flames, while smaller embers trail from its fetlocks.
Rapidash is rather competitive and tends to have a rash nature. The fastest Rapidash will be chosen as its herd's leader, which determines the direction the herd is heading and the speed its herd runs.

Itsuki sighed in relief after seeing Rapidash level. 'Looks like Blaine's strongest Pokémon were Magmar.'
"Zera use flash steps and then use Close combat."
Blaine panicked hearing about Flash Steps. He has seen how fast Zera would become after using Flash steps.
"Rapidash, use Fire blast"

Zera's body again glowed in yellow lightning and she reappeared behind of Rapidash while dodging the fire blast and began to land punches and kicks on Rapidash whole body.
Blaine clenched his fists and shouted.
"Rapidash use Flame Charge."

Zera stopped punching and kicking Rapidash when she saw his whole body was wrapped in fire.
"Zera, use Focus blast"
Zeraora!
A cyan ball formed in Zera' palm and directly hit Rapidash within second giving no chance to Rapidash for dodging.
"Rapidash, are you alright?" Blaine saw that his Rapidash was having very hard time standing and looked injured.
"Zera, finish this with another Focus blast"
Another Cyan ball hit Rapidash and Rapidash directly fainted.

"I have won"
Itsuki couldn't believe he won. Itsuki knew that the main reason why he won was because of Dragonair, she fought with Magmar, a level 40 Pokémon.
Itsuki thought he would have to bring out Zera to defeat Magmar but why he was trying to injure Magmar so that it would make things easier for Zera.

"Good Job, Zera" Itsuki patted Zera's head and recalled her in the Pokeball.
"Itsuki congratulation. That was an awesome battle. You really surprised me and I learned many things from watching this battle." Itsuki smiled and said nothing.
