Prelude to change 2.193

Viggo and Rosewisse arrived that same afternoon at the cave where the entrance to Odin's hidden chamber was. Rosewisse dedicated himself to looking at the door with the runic seal made of a diamond-shaped stone. At the same time, Viggo sat on the ground in a lotus position and devoted himself to watching where his clairvoyance took him.

Rosewisse stood in front of the emerald doors, three meters high and two meters wide, each. In its center he saw the diamond-shaped stone seal. It seemed that nothing could break it and the doors gave the same impression. Rosewisse turned around and saw Viggo with his pupils emitting a golden glow. She advanced to the exit of the cave and threw herself into the air and then flapping and flying around the mountain, only hoping to find some crack in the solid rock that would allow her to enter. However, no matter how many laps he gave, he found none. For a moment it occurred to him to launch a powerful runic attack against the mountain and see if he could make a path. However, Odin's chambers were a secret place where the god kept his knowledge. If the god realized that someone was snooping on his things, he could cut the connection with the cameras and prevent them from entering to see and incidentally prevent Rosewisse from freeing another Valkyrie. They needed to be discreet. Well, there was also the fact that Thor could notice his visit to Midgar and come to disturb them before they can come to a solution with the gates. So, in the end, Rosewisse returned to the cave where Viggo kept looking with his clairvoyance in the distance.

Viggo closed his eyes just as Rosewisse was entering and let out a sigh of exhaustion. Then he opened his eyes again and looked at Rosewisse.

-I'm sorry, I'm not as good a magician as I thought- Rosewisse replied with an awkward smile.

-Well, if you had discovered it the first time you would have surprised me to the point that I could only kneel before you, but you must understand that this was done by Odin. Someone who came before you and me. Someone who was already before your grandmother was born- Viggo made a mocking smile and liked the eyes in an exaggerated way -you know "The Allfather"-

Rosewisse chuckled upon seeing Viggo's expression and nodded with a broad smile -yes, the mysterious Allfather- he said in a mysterious and overacted tone.

-Whatever. I have news- said Viggo.

-What kind of news?- asked Rosewisse, stopping in front of Viggo and extending a hand to him. Viggo stretched out his hand, leaned back, and Rosewisse pulled him to his feet.

-There are four Valkyries in Midgar, but all with the same problem-

-Four?- asked Rosewisse, full of disbelief -in a way, I don't know whether to rejoice or be sad. If we do not overcome the runic seal, we are standing idly by-

-Well, our friend knows what's still going on at the top of the mountain, how about paying him a visit?- asked Viggo.

-Oooh, you mean the wisest man in the kingdom. Well, to be so wise is still trapped in the tree, isn't it?-

-Yes, he's still trapped in the tree- Viggo replied -I told my father the other time about Mimir's existence and he said that this could happen to anyone who thought they were too smart and didn't know how to shut their mouths. Sometimes overly intelligent people lack common sense. You don't run and put yourself under the command of a paranoid madman-

-That's not what I can't say he's wrong, but I don't think it's just Mimir who did so badly. Anyone near Odin suffers similar fates-

-Maybe, but that's not our problem- Viggo said, lifting his shoulders. I had read enough of the wise counselor to know that many of the terrible things that happened in Midgar were his fault and his wit.

-Is the portal still at the top?- asked Rosewisse.

-Still at the top, intact-

-What if Thor appears?-

-Well, I think it's worth a try. If we reach the top, see Mimir and tell us how to break the runic seals, we will have gained a lot. Now, if Thor appears, we could fight him. If things go wrong, we use the pendant. If things go well, we could return the beating he returned to us the other time. Doesn't that last one seem sexy?-

-A little- said Rosewisse, unconvinced -I like to give him his comeuppance, but the part in which we flee with our tails between our legs, no-

-Well, you must take risks, do you know someone who knows how to break rune seals? I'm all ears-

-Ok, I get it- Rosewisse said, raising her hands in surrender -I just hope we'll end up in one piece-

-Hey, last time it didn't go so badly-

-I remind you that you came home as a corpse. If it hadn't been for your old man, you'd be three feet underground-

-But I don't pass, come on, don't be a coward, now the Valkyries turned into chickens?-

-Pull back or when we fly through the sky I rise to my maximum capacity and let you fall-

-Hey, no threats. I don't threaten you when you treat me like a fool-

-It's because you're dumb- Rosewisse said with a frown -besides, I'm not the only Valkyrie. So, retract-

-Ok- Viggo said with a sneer -I'll just say that Rosewisse became a chicken-

-You see, when we are in the air we will see if you are still so brave-

-Well, since you bothered me so much while we were flying, I'm no longer afraid of heights-

Rosewisse folded her arms and gave her a funny look -Really? Well, come on, we'll see if you can keep your words-

Viggo walked on his own at the exit and when he was under the cloud-covered gray sky, Rosewisse hugged him from behind and threw himself into the sky. At first, Viggo was totally immune to Rosewisse's moves and threats to release him. At the same time, Rosewisse realized that his no longer had effect, so he began to perform pirouettes and turns that got Viggo out of control.

-Come on ROSEWISSE- shouted Viggo as his vision circled alongside Rosewisse's flight -Come on, pretty, don't be like that-

Rosewisse stabilized her flight and yelled -Did I think you were okay?-

-No, I'm fine-

-I don't think so, let's see how you are left with another lap and a plummet-

-ROSEWISSE...- shouted Viggo but could only feel the centrifugal force of Rosewisse's turn. With that he lost the sense of where he was up and down. And, finally, with the flight plummeting and seeing that everything was spinning but knowing that it was going to crash with the earth, he panicked and somehow turned and hugged Rosewisse, who arranged his wings and in a single movement, raise again and then continued flapping up.

-Damn, devil's wife- said Viggo, hugging Rosewises with all his might -one of these days you're going to kill me-

Rosewisse just kept flying, with a big smile on her lips and letting out a laugh.

Half an hour later, Rosewisse reached the top of the Jotun Mountain, where there was a stone shrine with pillars on the sides in the shape of giants. On the left side was the arch occupied by the Aesir to come to Midgar. On the right side was the tree where Mimir, the self-proclaimed "wise man of the nine Realms" was trapped. The latter, from his static position, did not believe that Viggo and Rosewisse were still alive.

Rosewisse released Viggo into the sanctuary and he fell on the stone floor. Which he appreciated and although there was mud and water pools, since the sanctuary was protected against the weather so that Mimir would not die from cold, he threw himself to the ground.

-Oooooh, holy heaven- said Viggo, kissing the floor made of stone cakes -the floor, I never rejoice so much from the ground-

Rosewisse descended gently flapping her wings and falling on her feet. She let out laughter with a huge smile on her lips.

Viggo raised his face and looked at Rosewisse full of resentment -you, woman How can you be so demonic? Did you want me to die or something?-

Rosewisse lifted his shoulders and asked him -Who said "I was immune to my games and heights?" Well, you know, don't insult the Valkyries again or you'll see-

-We'll see who laughs last- replied Viggo with a frown.

-How?- asked Mimir from his tree.

Viggo and Rosewisse gave him a glance and walked to a stop a meter away from him.

-Surprised?- asked Rosewisse.

-Sure- replied Mimir -Thor hit this boy with his Mjolnir-

-We are durable, resilient, invincible- said Viggo, folding his arms.

-That, invincible- said Rosewisse, crossing his arms like Viggo.

-You are, some..."children"- said Mimir -this is not a game-

Viggo looked at Rosewisse and she looked back. They both nodded and said in unison -we want to break the runic seal of Odin's chamber, at the foot of the mountain-

Mimir closed his eyelids and if he had his hands, he would bring them to his face in a gesture of tiredness and exasperation. Then he opened his eyelids again and looked at the two with his right eye, a golden eye, and his only eye -ok- he said -let's say I believe them-

-Well, we want your secrets- said Viggo.

-I want to release the Valkyrie inside-

-That, ok, I hear you-

Then Viggo and Rosewisse explained to him about their encounter in Muspelheim with the Valkyrie and that something strange was happening in Midgar. The amount of excessively numerous draugrs and things like that. Of course, they didn't explain how they knew the Valkyrie was in Odin's chamber or how they knew there were more cameras. Hera had already told Viggo. Even among the gods, clairvoyance was a precious and scarce gift. Knowing what is going to happen in the future gave you a huge advantage over others.

Mimir took a deep breath, these children thought they were smarter than they were, but without a doubt, they were extraordinary. Not everyone survived a battle with Thor, let alone a blow from his Mjolnir.

-To the north, there's a huge giant, a real giant- said Mimir -his body covers most of what was once a thriving land. On his head he has a chisel, it is magical, special to put it simply. If you can reach the tip that was buried under layers and layers of ice, you could take out a splinter and with that engrave the rune on the runic seal, but I do not guarantee anything. It's just a blank bet-

Viggo and Rosewisse stared, also sensing that Mimir was hiding something, but since he wanted to keep his secrets, so did they. So, they didn't insist. It was already quite rare for a man involved with the affairs of the Nine Realms not to ask about the Valkyries, tasked with separating the dead and preventing Midgar and the other civilized kingdoms from filling up with draugrs and other types of undead.

-Thank you for your help, Mimir- said Rosewisse -is there anything we can do for you?-

-I don't think so, young lady- said Mimir -nothing can destroy this tree, not even Thor's Mjolnir-

-I understand, it's a shame- Rosewisse said.

-Thank you very much for the information, Mimir- replied Viggo with a serious, thoughtful expression -I hope fate treats you better-

-I hope so, too, boy- said Mimir in a reflective tone of voice.
