Prelude to change 2.206

Viggo separated from his father and walked through the streets to the jewelry store that Semiramis and Scheherezade managed. Viggo entered the store and the three jewelry sellers stared at him strangely to see his clothes. Viggo looked at himself, dressed as usual: naked torso with Kiara's necklace around his neck (as they had occupied the power of the stone a couple of weeks ago, it was still white, but recovering his blue). He wore the red tunic that covered him from the waist to his knees, the thick leather belt with the lion's head on the front, and leather boots. Nothing strange thought Viggo, but suddenly remembered the kind of place that was a jewelry store. Viggo looked at the three jewelry sellers, two women and one man, all dressed like nobles. He raised an eyebrow, questioning them with his eyes, to which they responded by looking away.

-I come to see Semiramis and Scheherezade- Viggo said in a thick voice. The three jewelry sellers stared at him, then looked at each other and the youngest, a twenty-year-old girl let out a sigh and walked to the back corridor with a staircase leading to the second floor. Viggo stood circling, looking at the beautiful glass display cases with all kinds of gemstone-inlaid jewelry. A festival of colors and elegance for the eyes.

A few minutes later a customer arrived, and the two salesmen approached with smiles on their faces. Viggo looked at himself once more, was not so badly dressed, and then looked back. Viggo gave a chuckle. Those two fools looked kindly on the god Zeus who had arrived with a simple-looking girl who, by her appearance, seemed to come from the red-light district.

-What do my eyes see? The little demi-god- said Zeus, seeing Viggo as if he wanted to get into a fight with him -Where is your father to come and pay for things for you?-

-Father stayed in the Hera family mansion- said Viggo, turning around and smiling mockingly -taking care of his wife and son. Don't you have something like that? Ah, no, true, my father's wife... Well, there's nothing to do-

-Don't be insolent brat- said Zeus, raising his voice.

-Then don't bother me and buy what you want to buy- Viggo replied and turned his back on him as if Zeus was worthless. Which annoyed the god, but also scared away his companion. Which went out the door before they got her into some trouble.

The god Zeus only heard the door, stretched out his hand as if he wanted to reach her, but she was already gone. Zeus let out a sigh and looked at the two jewelry sellers -I won't buy anything while he's here-

To which the jewelry sellers looked at Viggo with resentment. He didn't pay attention to them and just kept looking at the jewelry in the display cases.

-A serious question- Viggo said casually -How can someone like you afford to come to this store? According to my aunt, this is her best store. I worked for a while in this place, and I remember that the cheapest thing they sold were rings with diamonds that cost five million valis-

-That's not your business, brat- said Zeus, walking toward where Viggo was. The latter raised his eyebrow and wondered how Zeus could be so insensitive that he did not know his place or perceive animosity.

-And you, how can you afford to come here?- asked Zeus -oh, truth, your wife, the whore who receives gifts from all over the world, works here-

-Everyone can look at the sun- said Viggo, turning to look Zeus in the eye -they can long for its warmth, possess its power and its beauty. However, that only belongs to the creator god. You had an empress for a wife, the queen of the gods, they still call her that, but you didn't know how to take care of her. Please don't talk about other people's wives if you couldn't even take care of yours-

-What do you know, brat?- asked Zeus with an annoyed expression -there is no gratitude, there is no loyalty-

-Say what you want, I'm not going to bother with you- Viggo replied -but back to the question, how can you afford to buy jewelry in this store? The other day I learned that your family did not pay you the upper box that you used to occupy, and you had no choice but to sit in the seats-

-Brat- said Zeus, taking Viggo by the necklace around his neck, bringing his face closer and staying a couple of inches from his face -if it weren't for your father, I'd have it all- he let go of Viggo's chain and continued with a mocking smile -but soon I'll have it all back. I'm not worried, mortals come and go. True gods remain unmoved by time-

-In a few words do you become obsolete? You have been here on this earth for a thousand years and this is all you have achieved-

Viggo and Zeus stared into each other's eyes until the latter turned around and walked to a display case and began to point randomly -I want this, this, and this- he said casually

-Don't sell him anything- said Viggo, having a bad feeling with Zeus.

-You're not the shop owner- Zeus protested.

-No, the owner is my aunt, the goddess Hera, who carries my father's son in her womb. The person who runs this shop is my wife, Semiramis, who gave me a daughter- looked at the jewelry sellers and continued -I think you two know who to listen to-

Zeus looked at the two jewel sellers who froze, not knowing what to do -don't worry- he said -the Zeus family went on an excursion to the dungeon. I will receive money from status updates. It will be enough to buy this whole store-

-Don't sell him anything- said Semiramis, walking down the stairs in the company of Scheherezade and the young jewel seller -the god Zeus already has a credit used. Until he pays, you can't sell him anymore, didn't I tell you that the other day?-

-What a surprise- said Viggo, looking at the two jewelry sellers with a sneer.

-Viggo, don't enlarge this problem anymore- said Semiramis.

-It is ok-

-Viggo, come with me- said Scheherezade.

Viggo walked to where Scheherezade was, she took his hand and they walked to the staircase that led to the second floor. However, Viggo stopped halfway and asked him -What is your divinity?-

-I am the king of Olympus- Zeus shouted out in anger -I am the king of lightning and if my divinity were not sealed, I would turn you into coal with my eyes alone-

-I understand- Viggo replied with a sneer -I'll keep that in mind- and he continue walking with Scheherezade to the stairs.

Semiramis shook her head and looked at her jewel salesmen to throw Zeus out of the tent, but the god looked at her with murderous fury. Semiramis did not flinch, she pointed her index finger at the door and said -please...-

-I'm leaving this damn tent- said Zeus, more annoyed than ever, turned around, walked to the door, and slammed the door so hard that he broke the glass of the entire front. Seeing the destruction, he had made, he looked back with a sneer and ran out.

-You- said Semiramis to the younger saleswoman -go find the adventurers of the Hera family assigned to the store. We need to guard the store- then she looked at the two veteran salesmen who wanted to sell jewelry to Zeus and gave them a cold look. They looked down and Semiramis continued -the two of you must take the jewels from the front and keep them in boxes. If something is missing, you will replace it-

-But boss- the man protested.

-No "boss". The other day I told them about the problem with the god Zeus, but only for a commission they were willing to go against my order. The god Zeus is broken, without any valis, he owes everyone. The goddess Hera gave him some credit because she has pity him, but that's it. I hope it will be the first and last time they go against what I told. There will be no second chance-

The two jewelry vendors nodded and approached the front cabinet, which with all its jewelry was attracting attention. The jewelry sellers became aggressive and kicked out everyone who approached. Then they started to collect the jewels, it was a temptation to take them all and run away, but Semiramis was watching them and on the other hand, this belonged to the queen goddess of Orario. The woman with the best adventurers and the most resources. To steal from such a person would be only to seek conviction.

Viggo and Scheherezade went down to see what had happened and found Semiramis standing, watching the mess left by the god Zeus. She turned around and looked at Viggo angrily. She didn't know what was worse. A husband seeks lawsuits that prevented several million valis in jewelry from being stolen. Why surely Zeus would not have how to pay for it. Or two, that having disturbed the god Zeus, he destroyed the front windows and left like a thief. Now they were going to have to close the jewelry store until they put the glass back in. Semiramis' only relief was that she had her wonderful ring where she could keep all these things.

Semiramis let out a sigh and stretched out her arms. Viggo immediately understood the gesture, walked over, and hugged her while watching for her that the two jewelry sellers kept the jewelry from the front display case.

-What did you come for?- asked Semiramis with a soft tone of voice.

-I wanted to see them, today was a difficult day-

-Are they gone yet?-

-Yes, they're gone-

Scheherezade hugged Viggo from behind, the three of them remained together. They could feel Viggo's grief, like a monotonous and muted melody of a single tone. Of course, Viggo would not tell them either, how to explain how pathetic his brother saw himself arguing stupidities. In the end, it was just the envy of a life he didn't have. Viggo considers himself lucky, very lucky. So, he can't understand Jason, but that's not why he's going to humiliate him in front of others. It's something between him and his brother. Viggo also wondered if Ottar felt that way. Perhaps, in the future, he will also be interested in one of his wives, just because it is unfair for him to hoard everything. However, Viggo could understand something, a pathetic man who on the outside looks successful, but inside is full of fears, he will never be able to retain the love of a woman. In the long run it becomes suffocating.

-Shall we go home?- asked Viggo.

-Yes, just wait that Ann brings the adventurers of the Hera family associated with jewelry-

-I understand- Viggo replied.

-Viggo- said Scheherezade behind Viggo's back.

Viggo turned his face, looked at Scheherezade with dark skin, green eyes, and full lips. Very beautiful, he thought subconsciously. Her long dark hair fell like two waterfalls of silks. Viggo brought his face closer, and she gave him a little kiss. Both of them pinned their cheeks in a soft caress. No answers were necessary.

-Because of the jewels- said Viggo -you can keep receiving them, just be careful who, I don't want something bad to happen to you-

-I- said Scheherezade, surprised to see Viggo so calm as he said that. The other day he had been angry like few times, but now he doesn't seem to care -wouldn't you give me jewelry anymore?-

-I haven't said that woman- said Viggo -I'll continue making jewelry, but you can receive them. They are a compliment for your beauty, I just must get used to the fact that I am not the only one who is watching you-

-Don't you care anymore?-

-Silly, I care about you- answered Viggo and gave her a tender kiss on the lips -what I don't care about is what the others do-
