Midgar and the Temple of Tyr 2.273

Viggo and Rosewisse had traveled to Niflheim and left the temple of Tyr only to find the obsidian stone bridge and gold moldings covered by a greenish mist. Niflheim had a corpse scent and gave the feeling of being completely empty.

—What do you think?— asked Viggo, looking at the bridge with statues with spears and shields guarding the road. Everything was covered with that dense fog that reached ankle height. At the end of the bridge was a huge portal that must have measured about fifty meters high and wide. Other than that, everything was hidden by the deadly fog.

—It's not good, I want to leave— Rosewisse replied.

—We can't, I'm sorry, but we need to do this, do you think we can fly and avoid all this fog?—

—And if better, first I check the surroundings and tell you what there is?—

—That's better, go ahead—

Rosewisse looked at Viggo, nodded and turned away from him before spreading his wings. However, before she could launch herself into the air, a huge dark portal opened as if it were a dark water smash that stretched five meters wide by three meters high. As Niflheim was so quiet, the sound of heels marking a slow rhythm was clearly heard. The person who came out of said portal was a woman with long gray hair and a braid on each side of her face. Her body was slender, dressed in the ornamental armor of Valkyrie and wings covered by the bulky golden armor. He did not wear a helmet, but he did wear a great sword almost as large and thick as his own body. He held it in his right hand and walked looking at Rosewisse. Behind the Valkyrie were heard heavy footsteps and the rubbing of a bulky armor. The next instant two travelers came out with the colossal armor that made them look like a mobile fortress. The armor was light blue, both wore helmets and a great sword like to that of the traveler who attacked Viggo and Rosewisse in Alfheim. However, in addition to everything else, they wore a large round shield on their backs.

Rosewisse closed his wings and looked forward with a smile. She advanced without saying anything to Viggo while the other Valkyrie did the same and was closely followed by travelers. Viggo had to follow Rosewisse as he summoned the Leviathan axe in his right hand. One traveler was no problem, but facing two with those ultra swords was going to require extra strength and clairvoyance.

—Brunnhilde, the dragon— said Rosewisse with a powerful tone of voice that pierced the distance and was clearly audible, —have you fallen so low that you now work for the AllFather?—

—We don't all have the same freedoms, Rosewisse the vulture— replied the other gray-haired Valkyrie with the two braids framing her face. His voice sounded soft, cold, and distant, with a hint of sadness.

Viggo, who was a little further behind Rosewisse, was tempted to laugh because, just as that girl named Brunnhilde said, he sounded very silly. However, Viggo had the courtesy not to laugh and remember how Rosewisse called the Valkyries: Eir, the bear. Kara, the ram. Gunnr, the crow. Geirdrifull, the owl. Olrun, the eagle. Rota, the deer. Each Valkyrie had its name associated with a guardian animal/spirit.

—Not good— continued Rosewisse as he advanced and shook his head —lay down your weapons and leave this path, it won't take you anywhere—

—I told you, Rosewisse— insisted Brunnhilde, stopping twenty meters from Rosewisse, —we don't all have the same freedoms—

—I had no freedoms— replied Rosewisse —to what he called my people, he took away my rights and sent me to die with my parents—

—Even if it were, you must be stopped— Brunnhilde replied, lifting the huge great sword as big as she was and pointing at her, the father of all demands your captivity.

—You were always such an airhead— Rosewisse replied with a frown, but there was no hatred in her gaze, but rather, anger. She looked back, saw Viggo and said —Take care of the travelers, be quick, I'll need help—

—Just kidding, right?— asked Viggo, somewhat surprised by the words. Rosewisse never asked for help and never flinched in the face of combat. Viggo looked at the Valkyrie ahead of them, between the two traveling giants two meters tall each. The Valkyrie did not seem to have more physique than Rosewisse, Viggo shook his head, even though Rosewisse is a mage, he managed to become more resilient and withstand Thor's attacks. On the other hand, Brunnhilde wore a great sword, which made her a warrior. Viggo let out a sigh, these were problems.

However, before Viggo could even mentalize, the two travelers with huge ultra swords took off running. They quickly overcame the distance, arrived in front of Viggo and lifted the great swords to unload them with full force. Viggo jumped back, the great swords hit the obsidian rock floor and generated a loud ringing that reverberated everywhere.

Viggo fell to his feet, took the axe, and threw it against the traveler's head on the right. That guy wore a helmet with a blue mane like a horse's tail. The axe hit the helmet hard but did not push him back. The axe bounced off the metal, but when it was about to fall it flew back into Viggo's hand and the latter threw it again. Viggo already understood the way of fighting of the travelers, those of now could have another type of armor, but the weight and dimensions were the same as the one he faced in Alfheim. They could make small runs, but that represented an effort that they could not repeat continuously. However, the traveler did something unexpected and turned his back showing the round shield. The axe hit the hear and bounced and then flew back to Viggo's hand.

At the same time, the bombardment of Rosewisse could be heard throwing one magic after another while flying in the air. She was closely followed by the other gray-haired Valkyrie carrying the great sword in her right hand. Rosewisse swooped against the bridge, fell on her feet, slid and so did the other Valkyrie without wanting to let her escape. Rosewisse pointed his silver wand at her, and a circle of magic appeared on the tip of the wand. From the circle of magic came a fireball that flew in the direction of Brunnhilde, but the latter cut the fireball in half with the great sword.

—Rosewisse, this is not all you have— said Brunnhilde —so much has gone to your head your intelligence. I remember you looked down on all of us and called me a fool all the time—

—I called you stupid because you were too stubborn, and you trained until you were lying on the ground. One day you almost got eaten by the ogres because you ran out of strength. Besides, if I don't attack you with all my strength, don't you think it's for a reason?—

—As sentimental as ever— said Brunnhilde, jumped forward with all her might, took the great sword with both hands, arrived in front of Rosewisse and unloaded it with all her strength. Rosewisse had to jump and help herself with the flapping of her wings in order to be fast enough to dodge. Rosewisse felt bad, Brunnhilde was serious.

On the other hand, Viggo continued to attract travelers and separate them from the place where Rosewisse and Brunnhilde fought. Both travelers followed at a slow-paced thanks to his heavy armor while Viggo attacked them from a distance. Viggo had managed to remove one's helmet, it was very similar to the previous traveler. Bald, bearded, with runic tattoos all over his head and a blank look as if he were a vengeful specter.

From this brief exchange Viggo verified two things: first, these travelers were the same as the previous one. Second, he had to be careful with the shield because it had some kind of magic that repelled impacts.

Viggo no longer waited for them, now he threw himself against the two travelers, they also ran to meet him. They both lifted their ultra sword and unloaded it with all their might. Viggo went ahead of them, jumped, and passed between them. The ultra spadones hit the ground and generated ringing. They were going to pick them up again to attack, but Viggo took the leviathan axe with both hands and attacked the back of the knees. Both travelers fell to the ground. Viggo tightened his grip on the axe and threw a horizontal cut to the right decapitating the traveler in a single movement and fluidly, followed with the other.

Viggo took a deep breath, the bodies fell head-on and decapitated. For a moment, he thought about picking up the great swords first and putting them away, but a strong impact against the bridge alerted him to what was going on. Viggo turned around and saw Rosewisse lying on the ground with the mist swirling around her. Twenty meters from her came Brunilda, who carried her ultra sword in her right hand.

Viggo frowned, put away the leviathan axe, and lifted one of the great swords that belonged to the travelers. For some reason I had a nostalgic feeling when I occupied these ultra spadones, as if the feeling was totally familiar. Viggo walked in the direction of Rosewisse, lifted the great sword and rested it on his right shoulder.

—If you continue with this, things won't end with a simple apology— Viggo said in a thick, threatening tone of voice.

—No one has apologized or is asking them to surrender, that was lost a couple of minutes ago. Rosewisse refused, Brunnhilde replied.

—As you wish— replied Viggo, ran with all his strength and quickly reached Brunnhilde, raised the great sword with both hands and released it while they let out a cry of fury. Brunnhilde dodged the cut by a brief margin and threw a horizontal cut. Viggo backed up turning with the sword giving a horizontal cut. Both ultra spadones collided, there was a ringing, the sparks jumped, and the weapons bounced. Viggo and Brunnhilde stood five meters away from each other, looking into each other's eyes.

Viggo smiled, not for Brunnhilde, not for the matched exchange, even though he wasn't using touki. It was the feeling of using a great sword. His father had some espadones in his workshop, as did his mother, but the ultra espadones carried by travelers felt different.

—Back off, Valkyrie— said Viggo, pointing at Brunnhilde with the great sword —today I'm in a good mood and I'll pretend I haven't seen anything—

—Viggo!— protested Rosewisse ten meters behind him. She had been beaten so hard by Brunnhilde that she felt her intestines had become pure.

—I told you; no one is asking for mercy— Brunnhilde replied, frowning, and pointing the great sword at Viggo.

—As you wish—

—Viggo!— shouted Rosewisse again —don't be abrupt, for... Please—

—Rosewisse, stop getting in my way. We are not allies— Brunilda shouted —that ended years ago. We will never go back to that time, ever—

Viggo stared at Brunnhilde, the same height as Rosewisse. Brunnhilde had gray hair, blue eyes, two braids framing her face, Valkyrie armor, but no helmet.

—Tell me, Valkyrie— said Viggo, placing the tip of the great sword on the ground and placing the weapon vertically. He brought his left hand to his face as if pointing to the outline and asked —Why don't you have a helmet like the other Valkyries? Even Rosewisse who is too young, has one—

Brunnhilde looked down and frowned —that's none of your business— she replied quietly.

—There was no helmet for Brunnhilde— said Rosewisse, Brunnhilde raised her face and looked at her with a grudge. Rosewisse was not bothered by her expression and continuation —Brunnhilde is part of the descendants of Sigrun, the Valkyrie queen, but she was of humble origins and only a suit of armor was prepared for her as an act of goodwill.

—You didn't have to say it— shouted Brunnhilde angrily —Do you feel very proud to be the granddaughter of the great Gondul? So what?— she pointed the great sword forward with both hands and continued —I will beat them, win the place that belongs to me and return to Vanaheim to be the queen of the Vanir—

Viggo gave a chuckle when he heard her say those things, which did not go down very well with Brunnhilde, who screamed madly and threw herself with all her strength. Her posture was bad, but her gaze was full of determination.
