Lee's room was big. It was every dream girl 's room.
The thing that frustrated Lee was how pink this room was, from the walls to the bed even most of the clothes she had in her closet were pink.
She simply shook her head in amusement and took out her clothes out of the large bag and put them inside the closet. The clothes were few and nothing much was there to be done.
She didn't want to trust people into her life again after what happened between her parents.
Her father had abandoned her and her mother. It made her sad but she strengthened herself and decided to live with the fact that she had only a mother left.
Her mother's case was the worst because she didn't even say she was leaving let alone pack anything. It was something so unexpected and painful.
Her life stopped at the moment it dawned her that her mother had gone.
It had been days since Fanny left the house leaving Lee alone, it was her mother's daily routine to buy groceries at the market or visiting her friends as she told Lee but this time she didn't return.
She asked the police for help but they couldn't find anything that linked to her. Nobody knew her at the market she said she used to go, Lee knew none of her friends except only her father who left. This is also the time when she realized she didn't know her mother at all.
It looked like kidnap to her at first but the idea was totally dismissed when a few weeks later, she started receiving money from her mother's number. A person who was kidnapped and in danger can't send you money so all this was baffling.
All this abandonment from the age of eight by her father then at twelve by her mother by now at seventeen, she felt scared to form attachments.
"Was she a plague they were avoiding?" Too bad asking yourself questions with nobody to answer was useless.
Through her bedroom's large windows, the city's lights were so bright.
Sunset City was very active during the night because most of the people did business then along with the party goers and happy people. The city was secure because the nights were more active than the day hence during the day fewer crimes were committed.
Lee wondered if the brightness she saw now was the same amount of brightness everybody felt.
Lyn was preparing dinner with Mai in the kitchen.
"Do you think Lee will really like the bedroom?"She asked Mai for nearly the hundredth time.
"Madam, she'll obviously like it,you gave it your all," Mai said.
Lyn hummed at her answer and continued chopping the vegetables.
Mai was one of the best things that ever happened to her. She was her motivation, reliable option, friend and whatnot. Throughout the four years Mai has been with her,she has grown on her and she wouldn't know what to do without her.
Mai set the dinning table and went upstairs to call Ze Li and Lee for dinner.
Ze Li came down first and Lyn came afterwards and sat next to him. Lee came last and sat furthest to the both of them.
Lyn personally cooked all the meals eaten by her husband but now they also had a daughter. She had a wishful thinking of a happy family but it wasn't possible,it wasn't meant for her in this lifetime.
Whatever anybody thought of her didn't matter as long as she had Ze Li by her side. He remained good, caring and loving even when they found out they wouldn't have children together.
This wasn't the reason she accepted Lee, she did it because she was hoping they have their happy family.
Lee was distant and it was all justified. Nothing could give the perfect excuse to the fact that her perfect husband abandoned his first family. It also reminded her that he was capable of anything else she didn't know.
The food was mostly eaten by Ze Li who had no concerns toward anything. Thinking too much wasn't his way of life if that worry didn't concern success or money. He didn't care less whether or not Lee adjusted today because he knew for sure she will soon learn to adjust because he was rich enough to provide her with anything.
All humans are tricky anyway so you shouldn't force yourself to understand them.
Lee ate a little because she didn't feel like eating much while thoughts were internally killing her.
Lyn was combing her hair as she continued thinking again. Her head started hurting so she rushed to take her medicines.
"I'm bringing my nephew over there to see his father,"a lady spoke through the phone.
"Sister what!! Don't do anything that will cause trouble."
"What trouble am I bringing that wasn't already there, my nephew has the right to,"she spoke.
Please don't do that. I don't want to go through with the plan anymore. She has been so good to me. She continued crying as she spoke.
"What do you mean by not wanting to go through with this anymore, I am not going back to poverty because of you, having a conscience hasn't fed you through all those hard times,it was me." Make sure you don't mess up anything.
Mai cried bitterly as she heard those words. Her sister was clearly using her son against her now.
"Will madam still care for her after knowing her past?" This question haunted her. She had been very selfish from the very beginning.
It was all pretense whenever she showed care and support to Lyn before. She had now changed and hopes that they live as friends.
How in the world were you going to accept a friend who was having an affair with your husband to the point where she even gave birth to his child. He was even providing for them like his second family behind your back.
The friend in question even came to you pretending to be a poor girl in need.
